Edited by: Cruz on 12/07/2004 19:49:41 Seriously it needs a little loving!!
Can we get a slight PG boost please please please!!! The maller needs one just as badly as the armageddona and apocalypse did before and the same that all other turret cruisers got.
Also, could you guys upgrade the drone bay on all tier III cruisers? a 0 drone bay is real bad considering that a thorax can equal your damage output with 5x blasters, and then double/triple it over a maller with 8 ogres >.<
PG boost is first though, drone bay ehh whatever, but it needs a PG boost!!! so does the omen too imo. ................. |

More grid and a 250 m3 drone bay would make it on par with other Tier 3 Cruisers.

Cruisers need some loving. Noone in their right mind uses anything but thoraxes, blackbirds and maybe a occational caracle. But amarr cruisers are particulary ****ty. The omen is a good agent ship. The maller is a waste of space.

Brian- with modulated heavy pulse lasers and good skills, mallers have a very ver very good DOT with decent range. Plus they are great tanks, but not both cuz of the ****ty powergrid and IMO the omen sucks for agent running because it doesnt have enough grid to fit any good weapons... ................. |

Maller could be a good ship if it just had a tad more powergrid.

Add 40 m/s to the Arbitrator and it would be far better off.

Adding 40m/s to *all* cruisers would make them considerably better. Agrt on Arbie tho, it should be *real* fast for a cruiser since it really doesnt have any other selling points. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

Edited by: Shamis Orzoz on 13/07/2004 02:02:23 Mallers do need some love. After 1 year of PvP'ing, I have only encountered 1 maller and I'm pretty sure he died. Moa's, rupture's, bb's, caracel's, stabber's, and thoraxes all have their place, but there has been very little use for maller's to date. Their guns are ok, but without the ability to use drones or fire missles they are very vulnerable.

Maller is a great NPC ship - but agreed, you need some hefty skills or lot of low slots filled up to fit big weapons on it. Don't really ever see it as a PvP ship, but you may find a way to surprise someone with it... and it armor tanks alright for a cruiser.
Either way - would love to see Cruisers updated in general (second bonus + loving)... maybe with that we will see a better role for the Maller (or it will be cemented as NPC only ship as it already seem to be)...
Actually - it's decent pVp against a couple of frigs - but that is just weak for a cruiser (especially one with what seem to be one of the highest mineral requirements of all cruisers)! -- Thread Killer

I love my maller, but I agree it does need some loving, I use it for mining in :(
I'd use a thorax for mining but I'm not wasting the time training my skills up when I'm trying to RP this char as a pure amarrian.
As for the other ships in the amarian fleet, unless your in a battleship, then your better off using other races ships.
Come on CCP please give the Maller some loving, I'd like to mine solo in something other than 1.0 space, and make some real isk, I had an Omen and was mining in that while I saved for my maller, and now I'm thinking of forgetting the RP role and starting the long process of training up the skills for a thorax (which is a much better ship for ratting / mining or even mission running :( )
Even after a 3 month holiday from eve I feel like the maller needs some loving, I'm still using a setup that I was given in the noob corp by a more experiencd player, and even though it's a good setup when it comes to the larger rats (100K +) I find myself running away more often than not as they are eating my shileds and armour before I can get close to them. |

I like the Maller idea, its not designed to be versatile like the thorax. The thorax has the ability to deliver high damage to its own class but the capacity to destroy numbers of smaller ships, Clearly its "choice 1" for npc hunting.
The Maller seems to be designed purely for heavy damage and not for taking smaller ships. This shouldnt change (its not gallente drone loving), but the same time its not armour tanking two well after you outfit with weapons. I wouldnt buy one unfortunatly, just not attractive yet.

I agree, Maller is a fine ship but could use more power. But after the last patch I use 5 named Focused Beams and a 100mn ab2 and have no probs doing lvl3 agent missions. But 5 heavy beams would make it alot better. And the lack of drone space is just stupid imo.
