Edited by: Commanderess on 01/12/2008 21:05:17 How much intel do you get before you warp in, in one of these tournaments?

Once you choose a beacon (you are assigned team one or two beforehand, then choose beacon 2c for example) you should scan for ships.
Bear in mind that another match will still be going on, so you need to know what the ships in the televised match are, then work out from that what you're opponents are flying.
Then you panic when you find out they have the exact ships to counter you, and you have a matter of minutes to come up with something

with that intel in mind you warp into the arena at your desired range.
and then you sit there for what seems to be hours (5-10 minutes) with your enemy right next to you and your FC talks like a waterfall what to do and you panic with every mouseclick you make, that you don't accidently move or lock someone b4 the battle starts, and you do need to do "stuff" such as looking at the other ships what weapons they have fitted ________
Sometimes paranoiaÆs just having all the facts.

So you can't choose what distance to warp in based on what ships you see on scan? You have to pick what range you are going to warp in first?

No you can, you haven't grasped the way the tourney works completely:
Every team has 4 beacons and the arena is 1 beacon. You get devhaxx0red to the system, then you have to warp to a team beacon of choice (entire team). Then you can scan and if you know what you're doing you can even scan out which beacon the enemy team is at.
With that info you can decide which member in your team warps to which distance from the arena beacon. So you can decide warp in range after finding out at least the ship types of the enemy.
Also if you have a good spy network, you can see which team you're up against in advance, try to figure out who the members will be, locator agent them and find out what they will be flying well before you get devhaxxor moved/matchday etc. Then you can really pick a winning team. Or get frelled over with disinformation :).

Ahh, great days, I remember scanning just before The Fourth District went up against The Church and had the pleasure of informing my teammates that The Church had gone for the Deimos, Rook, Griffin setup again, and we had just what we needed to break it.
It's pretty easy to tell from directional scan which one is the other team that you are fighting, because the ships from the fight beforehand will all be around the other arena beacon, which shows up on scan too.

that's so boring though. "Ok the plan is, everyone warp to zero and just kill them" is much more effective. -------------------------- NOTR
