CCP has finally accomplished what no other entity in Eve has been able to do: completely break my will and made me give up blaster ships.
All hail our new Amarr overlords.
I made a second slave clone today with a 7% Pashan's ROF implant and a 7% large energy turret damage implant (also Pashan's). Why don't hybrid turrets get a 7% damage implant as well? I'll probably never know.
Admittedly, my skills for my new Abaddon are a bit low. Embarrassing really. T1 guns, Large Energy Turret 2 and Amarr BS 3. But not long from now I'll have everything 5x5. I wanted a Redeemer anyway.
With my current setup (using T2 and max skills instead of what I have now) I'll be putting out about 937 DPS (guns only, no drones), have about 191.7 THOUSAND EHP, and will be able to hit at a 15km optimal, with another 10km of falloff after that with AM MF crystals.
Even with my silly low skills I'm doing really impressive DPS. So far I haven't really had the chance to kill anything significant, but I've only had the ship for less than 24 hours. All the small stuff I've shot, up to a Myrmidon in size has died in a few vollies. The cruisers are all going pop in a single volley. At ranges in excess of 20km. It's ridiculous.
Anyway, I give up CCP. You win. I'm sick of swimming against the current all the time. I'm painting my room solid gold and shaving my head. If you can't compete, roll over and join 'em.

By the time you get all the skills to 5, lasers will be nerfed and there will be a new FOTM out. Probably one you haven't yet trained for.

One can always hope. If this is the case then, Amarr pilots don't have that much time. 67d until I have pulse spec 4 and Amarr BS 5.

yep, thats the way it is at the moment with gunnery and damn it's not good. it's a pity because before QR the gunnery races were nicely balanced with each weapon system bringing a different way of fighting and flying
amarr works well in pvp ranges even more so now. matari is too little damage in falloff and can't hold ships close in too well gallente can't hold targets transversal down enough to bring guns to bear fully
i for one welcome our new amarr overlords, amarr victor?

Yeah, I know the feeling... my shiny new Phantasm is doing a very good job of making me wonder why I waited so long to train for those T2 pulses. It's just sad that yet another blob boost expansion makes it so necessary to stay at a nice safe 20km, but at least the damage is still good. -----------

Amarr ships/lasers are extremely good these days. But the major reason isn't because of QR and all that. It's been a long road with little changes all adding up.
1. The shift to buffer pvp tanks and not active tanks.
This is the biggest reason why lasers can pwn so hardcore. Before, you will go capless trying to active rep and shoot guns. Now all the cap is devoted to weapons only, making them more effective and less weaker against neuts. There's other reasons ofcourse, metashift to mid range via more gang combat, EM resist on armor changes, tracking boost.
But generally with now all your cap free for guns, the disadvantage of lasers (high cap use) is no longer in effect. You literally have a out of balance weapon with no drawback. |

I just slapped on 2x Amarr Navy EANMs, DC2, 3x trimarks and a large rep on my Abaddon. Pushing almost 200K EHP. And still has a rep that can tank something like 300 DPS. WTF. Where has this thing been all my life?

FOTM is good.
Why? Look at it like this:
1. Some people fit and fly certain ship with decent fitting that manages to perform its role very well.
2. More people know about it.
3. You have a huge number of pvp-rookie+ level pilots invest into same setups/ships thinking it will give them desired edge over seasoned pvp pilots.
4. You get nice lewts and fights if you know how to hit stuff in their weak points.
Weak point for Amarr? 2 TD`s in meds. Have fun hitting a station.

Edited by: trixofthetrade on 05/12/2008 14:04:19 You've been talking about how overpowered amarr are for months now. And so did the rest of the blaster whinage brigade. So what exactly changed?
Plus its interesting to see you did all this without ever flying a properly fitted amarr bs (as you still do not have large energy turret 5 or amarr bs 5). Aren't you the guy that constantly mourns about how other people can't make judgements without flying blasterships? So, what does this tell me about your constant abaddon is overpowered drivel? Yep, its unfounded. Come back when you have real experience in the ship.
Another funny thing for giggles: You are also the guy who says he makes 100% of his money with pirating (and you are at 5-6b). Pretty impressive until you read the other thread where you compare your domi mission performance vs. your kronos mission performance. LOL. Pretty embarassing example of self ownage tbh. (now fast edit your posts...)
tl;dr: you are a deceptive liar and you will be advocating game breaking blaster boosts at every point in time no matter what.

As a dedicated Amarr pilot its nice to see that our ships are good for a change, albeit probably for only a short period of time.
Amarr have been seen as useless for years, literally, with gallente blaster ships owning everything and then some. Now that Amarr ships are temporarily good at something it seems people are either jumping on board to train up, or to call for nerfs to make us useless again. Its pathetic really.

QFE~
So sick of hearing the same people who always proclaimed Amarr to be crap, now demanding nerfs for them.
Amarr never really got boosted. Amarr being better is a result of everyone else getting nerfed.
Welcome to "teh suck" all the rest of you.
At least dedicated Amarr players have held their own for years, despite the harassment about lasers being useless, the ships being too Cap dependant, yada yada.
We can take a new turn in FOTM without retraining like a bunch of lemmings.
However...
I'm glad all the FOTM clowns are now rolling up Amarr instead. Next we'll have waves of complaints about lasers, cap usage, awkward bonuses to the ships, slow ship, cumbersome ships, the lack of damage types besides EM/Therm (though you can gimp yourself further by using Radio crystals and do only EM damage too).
After all those FOTM clowns have been whining enough about these "new and unknown" bugs, issues and lack of balancing, then Amarr might actually get a proper boost.
I support the FOTM clowns rolling up Amarr characters! -------------------------------------------------- "Every complex problem has a solution which is easy, neat and wrong!" |

I don't see the issue.
Amarr gets pwnage damage dealing ability in exchange for being the most one dimensional race in the game. We get barely enough midslots to cover basic tackling and sometimes not even that. The ONLY thing amarr ships are good for is laying waste to things with lasers, and thats only things you can lock in time.
I trained amarr well before it was "stupid overpowered omg" and tbh I haven't seen much of an increase in anything. Ships were melting super fast when I was hitting them before, too.
It's a bit frustrating that posts like these are getting everyone to train amarr because my beloved race is just going to get thrown in the sewer for another 4 years, and I don't even think we deserve it this time. It's not like we're falcons or nosdomis or any of the truly broken mechanics that get left in the game for ages.

I'm still training up for a max 5/5 Blaster Rokh with Null ammo. The ranges I get mean I don't have to fit a web on my ship. Sure the dps is a little low for a turret BS...
Bah who am I kidding?!?!?
I've started cross training Amar myself (working on T2 medium pulses). How can I say no to Scorch ammo? How can I say no to no-reloads. How can I say no to doing more damage than my blaster ship at 2x the range?
BTW Merin - can you PLEASE stop talking about Sansha ships! It would be nice for people not to know the pwnage of shield tanking laser ships.
Current mechanics make close range battleships extremely pointless. Its all about midrange.

Good post. I blame the FOTM chasers. They train FOTMs, near-exploit the sh** out of them. When nerf bat hits they chase after the next FOTM. Get that nerfed. Rinse and repeat. All the while moaning and whining.

Just FYI; T2 crystals last for roughly 1000 shots before they have to be reloaded, that includes Scorch.
As for Sansha ships, how many people *really* fly faction ships into PvP?
Shield tanked Nightmare in PvP? Yeah, right...
I know only of a very few people who drag faction ships into PvP. And hey, if you need the extra thrill, then more power to you I guess. -------------------------------------------------- "Every complex problem has a solution which is easy, neat and wrong!" |
