"
To the administrators of Wikipedia:
Play hardball. Block those 6 IPs from any access whatsoever, explain why, stick to your guns.
The worst thing that will happen is, people in the UK will become stupider, while those who are not participating in this censorship will be advantaged, so your enemies will diminish themselves by their own hand and your friends will become more powerful allies by virtue of the gift you have given them."
Best quote so far. -------------------------------------------

No it does hold Scientific value!
there is a proof and theorem site been developed to merge with Wikipeida to show mathematical calculations etc and problem solving.
Wiki has everyone on this planet donating to it.. from articals to funding. its the Biggest Encyclopedia on this planet.. its Humanity self regulating and constant update source of humanity achievements past and present.
Its the holy grail of a modern Humanity.
Its something that shouldn't ever be tarnished, how could people look down or even THINK of blacklisting this.

But the smart people out weight the idiots and for as long as there are physical books which can be used as sources and constant adjustments are made, from people whom are within those field (physics etc) it should be fine.
Its the most important tool on this planet. $200 dollar laptops + wiki + third world country = Educated people.

That is wrong, a figure of Authority is Not better educated, he or she went to college to study law, and moved into a political movement.
how ever if you was to hold a large collection of professors from all uk universities and let them decide political and future preparation, this would be advantage.
Better yet we would have a better education system in place then we do NOW, it is those people that *****ed about the dumming down of the English standards.
Having a collection of the most bright and educated within the UK seems much much better way forward. Those will understand everything we know. and feel the same way we do.

Shanzem you're continuing to sound like a raving lunatic, quite frankly. You go on about your intelligence but fail to look at things with any kind of calm or rationality. Or at least it consistently appears that way.
This is a case of ISPs choosing to do something, not the government. Sure, the government could ask/force them not to do it, but they have to know it's an issue first. I'm not the biggest fan of the government we have but you're being ridiculous with this. Complain to the government, or your local MP, or something, about this. Overreacting on the internet doesn't help very much.
Secondly, change the thread title to something less ******ed.

The IWF was started to stop goverment controlled censoring...By UK ISPs themselves. Is it going to far? Perhaps.
They are also reactive, not proactive.

wait, wait, wait....
How exactly does this in any way reflect ALL of the UK?
We're talking about the content filtering teams of six ISPs - that's a total of five hundred people at the absolute outside - deciding to be a little overzealous and/or not following up properly on the source for an image before deciding to block that IP.
That's less than 0.00001% of the country screwing up and suddenly we're talking about "the fist of opression!" or some such similar farm slurry? Please.

ahh i see what you mean now, well yes.
It makes no sense of having people like brown in power, his actions will only lead to bad choice due to the information present in front of him without the foresight of were this world is going.
People who study science, and aim for PHDs have a lot better motive and general willingness to move forward.
and a willingness to push education. but your right, that would put them in the position of power. and to be fair, i can find myself agreeing with the slash dot nerds alot.
so go figure, what ever there on i must also be on.
Ninja Edit: if you leave your idiots to there own demise, eventually you the educated person will not be respected and society collapses (see UK) Theres is a HUGE gap between what the people leaving school know (and can legally vote) and those of higher education.
if you was to make it those who have degree or above vote, having a large collection of informed intelligence vote.

no actually i enjoy my job i enjoy working in engineering,
this way i can work on my small projects and robotics.
social status isn't my gripe, its the growing trend in Anti intellectualisms i am seeing. i am by no means a genius etc, i was just a kid who enjoyed reading his books and loved his math [after leaving school going my own way , college etc] (note the job i am in )
A perfect little example of this is the following, ask a nice young fit and really attractive English girl on were words like "lol" and "rofl" and there language used to text there friends with.
She will reply its text langauge etc and act is if they made it up,
although it was actually geeks USING the same language years before them on the Internet.
Geeks in the western world as educated young individuals have completely fallen of the map. to the point if you go out and do something completely different, interesting or educated you get called a genius, this happened to me. i do not want to go through this all over again or worse let somebody else go through it.

Its just the practical application of having a tool, that can keep a large population (billions) upto date on world events, people, places , (Basic concept of science`s) etc all in one location that is interconnected so other areas on interests can be branched. out. and kept upto date (a book cannot do this) while adding a basic concept of mathematics and problem solving.
Which is free, EVERYONE on this planet should have access to, and puts us in the same page as each other.

Actually i am supporting the idea of a collection of the UKs brightest in order to get a new goverment setup which runs without the need of one single man making decisions.
and the decisions are spread over all the Educated people (professors) within the UK on a vote of policy.
Yup like I said a very sligtly differnet version of those you disagree with...Just differnet people in charge, I would guess you expect to be higher up the chain than you are now...
no actually i enjoy my job i enjoy working in engineering,
this way i can work on my small projects and robotics.
social status isn't my gripe, its the growing trend in Anti intellectualisms i am seeing. i am by no means a genius etc, i was just a kid who enjoyed reading his books and loved his math [after leaving school going my own way , college etc] (note the job i am in )
A perfect little example of this is the following, ask a nice young fit and really attractive English girl on were words like "lol" and "rofl" and there language used to text there friends with.
A lot of study right about now is going on to understand intelligence and how geeks fit in. Geeks Virgins c/d (im not .. geek got laid.. another story lol - was with girl )

Agreed it was started by mainly Usenet just at the beginning on the Internet. and then spread to things like texting(SMS).
Lol do some research, and start here Usenet.
and please read this
Rise of the Alpha geeks
"But the biggest change was not Silicon Valley itself. Rather, the new technology created a range of mental playgrounds where the new geeks could display their cultural capital. The jock can shine on the football field, but the geeks can display their supple sensibilities and well-modulated emotions on their Facebook pages, blogs, text messages and Twitter feeds. Now there are armies of designers, researchers, media mavens and other cultural producers with a talent for whimsical self-mockery, arcane social references and late-night analysis." -------------------------------------------

Better yet i would like to know what achievements you have done in order to show your appreciation for the country you have been raised in.
So if i built a Nuclear fusion device (a small Nuclear fusion reactor, with the abbility to produce x-rays and a small plasma reaction (same seen on the sun), and its something that my little town can be proud of, are you saying respecting things like that are bad?

If I read the way you are replying correctly, perhaps if you want to put yourself in the same group as Isaac Newton, Michael Faraday, Alan Turing etc (all English btw) then maybe you should achieve something significant yourself first. Yes you could overcome all the barriers that prevent nuclear fusion from being a viable source of energy, that could give you some pretext to having your attitude. You'd probably still need to get a girlfriend though.

you must be quite old then
"Sophocles (496 - 406 BC), the Greek poet and tragedian, claimed that dice were invented by the Greek, Palamedes, during the siege of Troy. Herodotus (b. 484 BC?), historian and acquaintance of Sophocles, said they were invented by the Lydians of Asia Minor. But dice date back further than this. Egyptian tombs, dated to 2000 BC, have been found containing dice and dice reputedly dated to 6000 BC have been uncovered in archaeological excavations. Dice were developed independently by many ancient cultures all over the world and did not simply originate and spread from any one place." -------------------------------------------

So if i built a Nuclear fusion device (a small Nuclear fusion reactor, with the abbility to produce x-rays and a small plasma reaction (same seen on the sun), and its something that my little town can be proud of, are you saying respecting things like that are bad?
Contrapositive reversal. You fail.
you have me there

wow, you actually do that 'looks like I got a cult following lawl' whenever someone trolls you for being banal faux-intelligentsia white noise. For some reason I thought you were better than that. I'm mainly doing this for the same reason I invented dice all those years ago. By the way, fix the dice wiki, would you?

Ok troll, i will bite for the laugh, if you invented the Dice, what purpose did you intend for it? and what made you decide to use 6 sides as a standard rather then 3?,
and why only start from 1 to 8, why didn't you use different numbers? why not prime numbers? -------------------------------------------

it doesn't offend me. it amuses me that you elevate yourself to such a lofty position and view yourself and others like you as necessary for humanity. it amuses me that you project this tired 'unwashed masses' archetype onto anyone who isn't convinced that you're an intellectual or impressed with your underwhelming achievements. it amuses me that this thread that was about the merits of wikipedia and the effect it's censorship would have on britain has become about you and your entitlement complex, although I think that was a group effort highfive.

Depends if you can get hold of it. I only ever noticed it when I was living in Cov. Also, you tried Tribute and U.B.U? They used to consist of most of my beer consumption simply by virtue of being the two ales the pub at uni served. ____________________

i would be so bold to say you studied mathematics at uni
your contrapositive statement kind of blew me away. i know mathematics is such a vital tool, but for someone to use it even when dealing with words and alphabet (a completely different tool and mindset) was rather impressive somthing new to learn

yeah thats probably a part of the English heritage actually like, small quite pubs, little to no people in, its a nice warm environment. drinking real ales after doing some hard work,
me and my old man (Engineer like myself) visits one during Saturday afternoons, sit down and have an ale while discussing work or one of my current projects. -------------------------------------------

No, wackipedia has banned edits from the ip addresses that are a side effect of the IWF blocking the image. ========= "I am not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why can`t we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem fix its self |

The disruption to wikipedia isn't as significant as some people have made out. You can still register and log in if you want to edit pages even if your ISP is forcing you to use the same proxy for wiki access as all of their other customers. It just means that those affected can't make anonymous (i.e. IP-only) edits. --- Can't afford that BPO? Look here. 20:1 mineral compression The EVE f@h team |

Haha, I clicked on this thread, read about Shanzem being a "raving lunatic"... Clicked over to page 4, first post is about BEER.
Still, I can get straight onto the page here... It is a bit risquT I'll say that. But considering other things on the internet like "2 Girls 1 Cup" which is highly publicised and even worse... well.
Far be it from me to expect society to have any sense of priority.
And yes the UK and the majority of its population that don't notice the state of the country are slack-jawed ******s that really need to look up from their cellphone or beer glass to notice.

Please.
