The small percentage difference between what I offer as bonuses in my Damnation, and what I will offer in an Orca / Rorq will add up quite nicely in large mining operations.
These ships are not designed to be used with one or two miners, though they certainly could be, and will be. They truly come into their own when bonuses are offered to many miners.
Justifying the usefulness of an Orca by using it strictly in large mining ops is a cheap excuse.
The people that pay for multiple accounts (I pay for 3 myself) who have kept paying their subscriptions (CCP's elimination of ghost training fuels this fire.) and waited for this ship to be released on the promise of mind blowing mining bonuses and revolutionizing the efficiency of mining ops have been greatly disappointed.
Again, I agree with the original poster on this. Everyone else who disagrees doesn't know jack about high sec mining ops or is satisfied with mediocrity and have no business posting in this thread.

I no longer mine ore in high sec, or anywhere else for that matter, I mine the market for modules and ammunition.
However, that being said, when you have a real mining crew, you used to need roughly one good industrial hauler for each two or three miners. These haulers are generally the less well skilled miners. With the Orca and/or Rorqual, you free some of these miners who would be hauling to mine instead, which has a much larger net effect on the yield of the mining op as a whole than it does on the mining yields of the individual.
When you have retriever/covetor pilots mining with good director bonuses, rather than hauling ore, it's win for the mining operation.
This "invisible" yield bonus will not be something the three account miner will see.
I can't stop you from feeling that the Orca might not be what you wanted it to be, but I hope that you understand that it is a great boon to those who run large mining operations.
If you want to start making a lot more isk than you currently do mining in highsec, you will probably have to stop mining in highsec. CCP has made it pretty clear over the years that they really do want people to move out into the more dangerous areas, rather than glom in highsec. They just haven't been convincing enough yet. Perhaps a POS structure to increase mining yields, which only works in .4 sec and below. Hrm. I detect a features and ideas discussion topic
