I am just about to get my first battle ship...
I have most of materials for Mega and im only lacking iso for Dom, I dont like to use blasters and have just seen railThron post and was wondering...
What battleship do i get first? Dom or Thron?

Depends on what you intend to use it for and your skills.
You already have drones 5 and drone interface 4 ?
Go Dominix.
You are going to be doing NPC hunting and lack high fitting or gunnery skills ?
Go Megathron.
You are going to mine in it ?
Megathron if low drone skills, Dominix if high.
Missions ?
Either will do fine.
PvP ?
Difficult, since you're not into blasters I'd say Megathron since that one has a better fleet, long range setup possibility. But the Domi can do some EW....

What Rod is saying is correct, I would just add that since you are going with gallente Battleships you really need good drone skills anyway... So I would recommend getting a Dominix first:
Its cheap to buy and insure, probably about 60 mill isk cheaper when you consider the insurance into the calculation.
Train your drone skills if you havent already done it.
* The dom can rival and apoc in mining when you use drones.
* The dom is a nice fighter and it has one midslot more than the Megat which is nice in PVP... and 13-15 ogres are not to be ignored by opponents.
* The dom has 750 CPU with electronics 5, much more than the megat
The only real drawback of the dom is a limited powergrid that wont allow you to stick on 6*425's without some compromise in the low-slot loadouts.

Well this argument is used way too often IMHO.
Drones 5 + DI 4 + Gallente Bship 4 = 13 max drones, more is overkill.
Difference from megathron -> 13-9 = 4 drones.
4 drones = ~34 dmg/sec
Sure, 34 damage per second is really nice, but to be honest it doesn't make the dominix better at anything, when comparing it to the megathron. It's better with the bonus than without, but it doesn't make it beat the megathron in damage output.

If it's your first battleship, fly a dom. It'll hurt less when you get that 99% insurance payout in a day or two.

For NPC versus Serpentis the Dominix beat the Megathron hands down. True it has less PG and so on, but, it tanks better due to the slot layout.
I can run a large and a medium 2 armor rep indefinatly on that and soak up quite a lot of damage. I could not do that with my Megathron. That extra mod slot makes a heap of difference in recharge ability. actually, I can run those reps an da LIf + guns and not break. That's pretty damn nice.
Guns, well, use medium neutrons and named if you ahve. They hit really good verus both BS and cruisers and have a good RoF.
I love my Dominix for NPC.
I am not sure how it works against Guristas or Angels/Sanshas/Bloods.

Well I did say damage output 
I'm sure the dominix is fine with NPCs too, but as long as I can kill 3 BS spawns now and then and almost always the 2x ones (easy with 2 cruisers as escort), I'm happy with my megathron.

If she plays it smart she won't loose it in a few days. Reason a lot of ppl loose their BS in mere days is their ³ber noobishness. Sorry to say, but it's true. They are on BS before they can even pilot a Cruiser properly. That's a bit like me deciding that if I can fly a Cesna I can fly a F-16, it just don't work like that.

get the dom.. I have a dom and a mega and I like my dom alot more.. Dont get me wrong the mega is a great ship.. but if you dont have the perfect skills to fly it you will just be flushing your 130mill down the drain.
My mega is parked until i get my skills where they need to be....
