EVE Online: Quantum Rise 1.0.4 has been deployed on Tranquility today, Tuesday 16 December, in order to address performance issues regarding memory leaks that were affecting some of our players. Our team will continue to monitor Tranquility until weÆre fully satisfied that the issues have been solved. Patch notes are available for review and we would encourage anyone who is still experiencing any game play issues to submit a Bug Report and we will investigate the matter as soon as possible.

So, I've spent the last 40 minutes or so moving between systems, docking, alt-tabbing, looking at market & stuffs, and generally cramming in lots of that stuff that made 1.0.3 eat all my rams.
I've managed to lose about 4mb of memory between "blue" memory (whatever that is) and python memory along the way.
But essentially speaking, given the same ship in the same station with the same windows open and after giving eve a few minutes to flush any caches, memory usage is stable.
I'm also getting between 11 and 19 million pagefaults
Is this awesome? c/d

Pretty funny that the whole "Ctrl + Shift + Alt + M" monitor was already taken out from the players to access and now that it has returned it has already had more features added into it.

Something's been nerfed regarding cap usage. My Golem was holding steady at 49% cap yesterday with a permaboost fit (confirmed by EFT); today the same fit on the same ship is dropping below 33% cap remaining. I haven't finished training any skills during that period, nor installed/uninstalled any implants, nor was I being neut'ed or NOS'd, so I can only think that something has changed on the server side.
Anyone else seeing similar behavior?

Server doesn't really seem to be working. Takes a long time to load in. Takes a long time to load the environment past the character select screen and once it has "loaded" - nothing works. No ship commands, no checking evemail, no market or even chat functionality.

We still have a small memory leak, but its really minor. At this level we should be able to play for hours if needed without a reboot.
So I am finally all happy that the most major problems of QR now appear to be resolved.

Well for my part, at the login screen Vista tells me that my graphics driver has crashed and resolved. Tbh it really looks that way too. If I don't hit the three finger tribute at that point (closing down the client), eve crashes the entire pc to hell and back.

edit: How to file a bug report
I've had the same problem since Quantum Rise 1.0.3. patch. See forum thread here for additional information:
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=945821
I've submitted a bug report, including dxdiag and logserver file, however wihtout more patterns and a logserver file replicating the bug, they said they couldn't isolate the problem.
Funny thing was, everytime I ran eve with logserver running, my client logged in perfectly everytime.
See the above thread for more information.

yes my caldari navy raven has gone from cap stable (permarun)at around 48% to below 31% in 7 mins of use. this test was carried out outside of a station with no enemies present and no launcher usage, no changes in skills or implants. i havent tested it for longer yet and will update this post once i have done. nb have a sneaking suspicion that it is no longer cap stable. not good.

also, i did a few lvl4 missions using my drone domi and i had no drone issues to speak of. just an fyi for those who posted above.

2nd test was about 23+ mins, went down to ~30%... starts to sound like reading error, or serverside slight lag]... still, might mess-up your day, if mid-mission crash causes tank to collapse.
I think this may be the answer (i.e. cap usage is simply displaying incorrectly in the UI) but I'm not risking my Golem to prove or disprove such a theory .

Someone said in another thread somewhere that they turned down antialiasing a bit and that solved their fuzzy text issue. I assume they were forcing it through their video card software as I can't find anywhere in the client to turn it on or off.

Ya I force a combined AA mode which makes Eve look beautiful. This mode has always worked fine ever since I started playing Eve in June of this year. Quantum Rise 1.0.3 introduced this bug when using this AA mode.
What was changed? Why am I being forced to use a lesser AA mode just to make the text bright and clear? And what about the people who have this same font issue but are not forcing any AA at all?
CCP? What happened to the rendering of text under certain environments? I trust the devs know what supersampling AA is. It's never caused an issue with fonts up until QR 1.0.3 was deployed. Why is that? Can I get an honest answer?

Sorry, but I refuse to believe this considering that myself and 3 others in this thread (Kramnik, Kishmull and Vir Hellnamin) have experienced a change in cap usage after applying the 1.0.4 update. (...) I think this may be the answer (i.e. cap usage is simply displaying incorrectly in the UI) but I'm not risking my Golem to prove or disprove such a theory . CCP, something has changed regarding cap usage - you need to investigate what it is and let us know!
I checked all the changes in the 1.0.4 release and they are all client changes. The client does not control cap usage.
There was no new static data applied to the server and database updates were limited to the EVE API and the web site.
I don't claim to know anything about how anything client/server related works, but maybe some sort of optimization has changed some sort of timing/frequency of data exchange between the server and client?
And personally, I still can't start a 2nd client if I've had one open for any period of time (I need to launch them both simultaneously if I want to run 2), and one seems to stutter a bit now where it didn't before.

regarding being unable to log in
I have the same problem and after playing around abit, it seems this is connected to being logged out in space AND using classic graphics.
If I log out in station or use premium graphics, I can log in whereever without problems. However this is only true if I have been using premium graphics exclusively since last clearing of settings folder. As soon as I change to classic graphics I can no longer log back in (if being logged out in space), even if I change back to premium graphics. |

I can confirm this happening. My perma-run armor tanked Dominix used to hover around 50% cap at all times. Tonight it's hovering around 30-35%. At first I paniced thinking I was being NOS'd then remembered I was fighting Sansha...
As you suggested I loaded up EFT and put in my implants, skills, and exact equipment. I made absolutely sure everything was identical in game and in EFT. EFT shows cap stable at exactly 50% which is what I remember in game from before the patch.
What gives CCP? Something obviously has changed...
Edit: Removed pyramid quote.
Edit 2: If I remove my CC8 and CR8 implants in EFT I get the numbers that I currently see in game. Are my cap implants no longer being applied? ---

No changes were made to cap usage. Quantum Rise 1.0.4 was a client release only.
I am also having the same problem with my "CAP". It was fine until todays patch. I have the same config on my ship but cap has dropped from 37% to 13% which almost cost me my ship when running a mission today.

Yes, I have noticed the cap issue also, my mission Domi which used to hold steady with all guns running and armor rep running at 50%. It is now stable at about 32% but this would prove to be an issue on PVP side as a nuet would now ruin my day even quicker. Something has changed and i find it funny that the response from CCP is nothing changed. HAHA WE ALL MUST BE CRAZY...Well that is a possibility actually.
Previous poster said something about the text being fuzzy. I noticed this also kinda weird but it was quite annoying, havent played since the newest patch will check it out and see.

After some hours of testing and good support from CCP, thats what i found out about the log-in problem: It's happening when i log-out in space with cache-setting "NO". It never happened with cache at least "Low". It never happened in station. Removing the pc.dat file from my settings folder allowed me to login at all times.

Well for my part, at the login screen Vista tells me that my graphics driver has crashed and resolved. Tbh it really looks that way too. If I don't hit the three finger tribute at that point (closing down the client), eve crashes the entire pc to hell and back.
And second, I'm too lazy for any bug reporting. Hello "Dead Space", been long overdue (Really I'm not arrogant, just lazy)
This sounds like your drivers are not up to date, let us know if updating them resolves the issue.
Well for your pleasure I updated the driver(s), everything else was up to par except for the Nvidia 8800GTS 256Mb card and whatever onboard sound chip driver.
Didn't help.
Hope you get it sorted, but I'll be going over here now and start worrying about something else.

I run premium on windows xp, both clients running from the same directory. No command line switches or anything, just "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe".
To be perfectly honest, I've seen performance degrade quite a bit over the last few months. When trinity was freshly-released I think is when performance was at it's best; I could stably run 2 clients using premium and get about 30fps sustained on each, regardless of being docked/in space/cloaked/etc. Now it's really picky and I find it not even worth running 2 clients at the same time unless I'm just checking market orders, because things are very stuttery and there is quite a bit of delay between me clicking on something and then seeing visual feedback on the screen. WinXP sp3, all latest drivers and stuff as well...

Seeing the CCP response to previous posts regarding this issue i'm feeling kinda disapointed.
btw 2 other ppl i know have noticed the same problem. Obveously something has happened after the patch and it needs investigating.

I'm also seeing a decrease in cap stability. My normal raven permatank never dipped below 34%. It has twice now capped out completely during a mission (Sansha and EOM, no neuts/nos on me). Nearly cost me the ship the first time. <3 Damage Control.

Confirming that there is indeed some cap issue in the new patch. My perma running Hawk is no longer a perma run
I had to throttle the shield booster while doing plexes.
Regarding Dev response as nothing has been changed regarding cap. I suggest you rather go check your versioning system for code changes made in this patch. Also check the changes if made any to displaying of cap on client.
Though I too am rather disappointed that a Dev is replying to this issue without even checking it thoroughly in game.

There is serious CAP issue now for most of ships and i suggest CCP should get it checked thoroughly and correct it. Its not necessary that due to the recent patch this problem has come, may be there are some server side changes also which are not part of patch.
In any case the problem is there, denying it by saying that we didn't make any change in some particular code so this can't happen doesn't help.
Being a developer myself i know many times when QA reports a bug and i think "I Didn't change that part of code, this bug shouldn't come" but the bug is there and that is a fact and after carefully checking the code i find the problem and fix it then. So just saying hey we didn't changed the code for that part doesn't completes your responsibility. You have to check why is this bug there and fix it, and in process don't care why the code is changed or not changed for that part. -------------------------------------------------- Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves. |

I am having the connection loss problems as well. I go into the "logging in as" and then connection lost error. Also when I dock or exit in most stations I get connection lost error. This is a new and very annoying problem.
As for the drone error 5 out but showing 4 re dock the drones and send out again seams to fix them.
Telling drones to return to bay SPECIALLY the mining drones. All they do is come back and orbit. you have to tell them again to get back into there bay.
Spasming drone on recall seams to happen when you are close to a collidable (like asteroid). Tell to orbit the tell to dock into bay.

Not tested any ships in combat yet (cowardly, I know) for the cap issue, BUT, as far as memory use is concerned :-
1. ran 3 accounts all night last night - memory use never above 1.2gb (before 1.0.3 two accounts would eat away up to 1.6Gb at which point logging in the 3rd made the screen go white in any 3D texture area - using the old trick of reset grafix on one account eg window/full switch would clear it)
2. I didn't get any d/c's during long periods of inactivity
3. FPS are all good
4. Market and corp screens respond in good time
All on a 2 year old Viao with only 2 gig RAM, running XP home premium, with only 7400 go grafix hardware.
Yes, I am using classic client, and yes I have all the grafix frippery turned to off (for me Eve Classic is immersive and attractive enough at these settings - i see no point or use for the fancy stuff. Besides, I like pink ships ). No, I do not have multiple clients installed - I have always run off a single install (in truth I never understood all that /LUA/off/up your end/: nonsense), and yes I always run in windowed mode at the native res of my laptop screen and alt-tab between accounts.
So, with modest hardware, I am now (finally) back to the performance pre-Trinity. I do accept that Eve is becoming more a personal experience - I hope those ppl still having problems get their fixes soon.
I have to say, for me this patch is the best in a veeeeery long time (so far). Over the w/e i will try out for the cap issue and try to see if it is real bug or display bug. Who knows, it may even be sorted by then.

As I previously posted, this seems the most likely case. But we'll never know unless CCP actually does due diligence and investigates, instead of issuing a blanket denial.

Strangely, I've got the reverse. My alt's mission Raven (pretty standard XL booster/boost amp/3 hardener/bunch of cap mods&rigs) that normally hovers in the 33% range is currently sitting in space with everything that uses cap running, and is gaining cap - currently at 99% indicated. I'll put in a bug report via that account once I can pin it down a bit more.

I've started getting the old "zero shields when you undock" issue again, so it wouldn't surprise me if that is related to the cap issue.
If it's related, then it's an issue of the client showing wrong, because the shield is at 100% server-side but showing 0 and then recharging in the client.

Thanks very much for the patch CCP my Eve is running a lot smoother now. There are just a couple of little problems that seem to still br around. I also from time to time still get vertical text when typing in rooms, but other than that this patch improves playability greatly. :)

We are looking into the cap issues, there is nothing in 1.0.4 that could affect actual cap usage of modules or setups. That doesn't mean we won't look into why people are reporting issues like this, it merely means that it is not due to a direct change of functionality in the 1.0.4 patch.
Please report bugs if you have any information that you think may help us narrow down the cause of this, How to create a bug report.
For those getting stuck at the "entering space" loading bar, filing a stuck petition should get your issue resolved, however we would appreciate it if you could file a bug report with logs so that we can pinpoint what is causing this. We have been unable to reproduce it ourselves so far with the info we have.
If your client is crashing at startup then please file a detailed bug report with information on your system setup and logserver output, this is a separate issue from the one above which is most likely connected to your system settings or drivers. Filing a stuck petition will not help in these cases so please do not file one. The issues and workaround forums are more likely to have solutions to your technical difficulties. ------------------

the module graphics (weapons and mid and lo slot buttons) appear as being offline instead of online even though they do work when u click them
lag still steadily gets worse over time (60 mins average time in between needed relogs this is only on my 2 xp machines running 1 ac each - no issue with my vista machine running two acs)
lag at gates (this affects all 4 acs) sometimes it gives a stupid random error message such as the time to undock from a station message when im trying to jump at a gate. but more often session change errors or preventing me entering a system cos fleet is handshaking despite me not being in a fleet.
skill training completed but reverts back to previous level..... a relog corrects this until next time a skill completes then u need to relog for it to take affect.

Edited by: Kulmid on 17/12/2008 12:35:43 has anyone experiencing cap problems actually ran their ship out of cap on a ship that says it should be cap stable and seen modules start to deactivate. maybe its just a graphical bug that is saying you cap is lower than it should be. so if you fit a ship that could be cap stable and it runs out of cap, and modules to indeed deactivate then I guess the "issues" you are experiencing have some merit. But if they continue to run while the ship displays it is out of cap, then its just a client display bug. Which easily could pop up with CCP messing around with the client.
Edit: please keep in mind this is intended for people experiencing their cap stable ships hovering around different levels. This does not apply to people who are just running themselves out of cap. (this is to stop people from going "I ran outta cap running 8 neuts and they shut off, not a graphical bug!")

This patch is crap just like the rest of ccp's patches. Full of memory leaks and glitches.
Care to be a little more specific ?
This thread is only 4 pages long so far so it is hardly as bad as you describe for everybody. There are people posting here (like myself) for whom the memory leak issues are dramatically better after 1.0.4 - if your experiences are different, enlighten us and CCP, and file a bug report. This way you help the game and potentially other people too.

However, i can't test really this memory leak problem because i can't have a connexion of more than 5 to 10 mn. Sometimes i count in second.
Since the 1.0.4 p atch, i had more than 70 connexion lost due to socket error. My network configuration didn t change since before the 1.0.3 where everything worked fine for me.
Thus, since yesterday 13:00 EVE time i couldn t play at all. changing skill sometimes required me 2 or 3 connexion. I just had 1 hour quiet yesterday evening without socket lost.
But Today after DT nothing has improved except that i can't play anymore.
And it is NOT a question of lag. I have no lag when the game is working.
And lag can't be the response to this socket loss problem.
And actually with all my petitions post i had no answer from anyone from CCP.

But if they continue to run while the ship displays it is out of cap, then its just a client display bug. Which easily could pop up with CCP messing around with the client.
Shield booster doesn't activate (with displayed warning message) due to cap being too low. Ran it over the stability limit with additional remote repper... seems like not to be a reading error.
Okay, ran another test today, and cap stays close enough to EFT limits (stable at 39%). Another setup slowly goes according to numbers (is actually far more stable than EFT says, due to staggered cap use / module timings).
Servers had hickups, someone else reported the same... if no other news appear I'd say fixed with the wait-until-next-DT cure again, or what-ever.
Prolly should go back to the old wait one day after any patch before logging in routine... -- V.H.

Quote: For those getting stuck at the "entering space" loading bar, filing a stuck petition should get your issue resolved, however we would appreciate it if you could file a bug report with logs so that we can pinpoint what is causing this. We have been unable to reproduce it ourselves so far with the info we have.
I am having this issue and have figured out how to reproduce it (and work around it)
If the following 3 things are true I get stuck logging in:
I logged out in space (not in a station) I am trying to log in with classic graphics client I am trying to log in with windowed mode.
If any of those 3 are NOT true.. I log in fine. This is tested with other accounts and other computers too.
The work around is to alt+enter at the log in screen to full mode, wait till I appear in space and then alt+enter back to windowed mode.
That should be enough data to track down this issue and fix it please. Also note.. if you can't reproduce this bug with the above info.. it might have been necessary for those things to be true when patching from .3 to .4 patch (because that's the state all of my accounts where in when I patched and now they all act this way unless I log in full screen.
One last item.. I filed a stuck petition yesterday and that got me in the game.. but when I logged out and back in from space.. I was stuck again. Unless you want the "stuck petition guys" to go on strike.. please fix quickly.

Posting to confirm that cap usage and/or readings appear to be back to normal. Just tested my Golem again and it's stable at 49% cap, exactly like it was on Monday. Back to mission running for me!
I'm glad this issue has been fixed, but I'd still like an acknowledgement (and explanation!) from CCP regarding it. Either something changed on TQ, or 10+ people across different continents experienced a shared delusion... hmmm, which one is more likely?

So far we have this workaround:
1. Dock 2. Repackage your ship
As before, if you are stuck at the loading bar then please file a petition in the stuck category. Most likely cause is inventory corruption when clone jumping, so please include info on your last clone jump if you are posting here regarding either the cap issue or the stuck at loading bar issue.
We are still investigating, any info you can provide is helpful. If you find a new workaround then please post it, if the one I posted above works for you then please let us know. ------------------

We had a chat in corp yesterday, and thought that this felt like old days, when you had all kinds of weird desync with servers when running missions or pretty much anything - sometimes had something to do with crap motherboard clock going at wrong pace compared to server clocks etc... all sorts of weird thingamagik stuffs - like all of a sudden during missions cap would stop recharging or you would not do any damage / receive any...

i just bought his rohk. had not even insured it, but had gotten it fitted and rigged. i warp to a gate and jump thru and was cloaked. i got kicked from the game, don't know why, cause all i had running was one client. when i logged back in, i warped to the gate and clicked on my cloak, and after a minute or so, realized i was froze. i logged on again frozen, unable to do anything and looking at 4 neutrals on a gate. i should have been safe, as i was cloaked waiting on a friend to join me, when the game booted me the first time. sad that i don't eve run my premium graphics and cannot eve functionally operate only one account running using the fullscreen mode.

Hey, I just wanted to submit my bug/suggestion report. Take it or leave it. Just thought the EVE team would find it helpful.
Actual Bugs:
--For the beginning mission where you have to scout out the jump gate (for the Minmator) I am stuck because I can't approach the jump gate structure. It is stuck at 0 meters. When I go out of a certain radius the distance begins to fluctuate normally. I also difficulty physically approaching the structure. This makes it impossible for some reason to progress with the mission.
--Whenever I come out of a warp the game will glitch for a few seconds zooming in and out, or my ship appears to simultaneously transport from place to place.
Minor Annoyances that might be bugs or might not. Also Some general suggestions to improve the game
--I am able to warp through planets and other objects! This is quite impossible. It would be better if you could implement a kind of collision and "object warning". You also simply move the planets and other objects that you frequently warp through. Seems like it wouldn't be that difficult, and wouldn't mess things up too badly.
--weird sound played when jumping, which sounds disturbingly like evil laughter?? wtf
--if you try to sell a ship (like one of the ships that you are given in the missions) you cannot do it. However you can break it down into minerals and sell those, which is actually quite profitable. So I think it would be a good idea to make the mission given ships have some value equal to the value of raw materials that you can get out of it.
--The rocket trails won't follow my ship. They get bent when I'm turning. It would be nice if the trails matched the position of my ship. This is also a problem when I'm coming out of a warp.
--You shouldn't have to expend extra energy to keep moving forward once you get going. There is not friction in space. I know a lot of games don't do this, but maybe it would work to cut the burners once you've reached the max speed. Also, I believe that if you apply more energy you will go faster and faster to infinity. It is only the rate of acceleration that is determined by the hardware. And also the amount of fuel on board. Might be interesting to simulate this. Further more, in order to maneuver well in space you need more than one rocket booster on the ship. Forward, back and all sides. This is because, unlike driving a car, you can't just turn your wheels where you want to go because there is no ground and no friction. When you want to stop you must apply an equal and opposite force. When turning you need to engage the other rocket boosters. Once again, it would be awesome if you could simulate this.
--I think you should consider making it much easier to approach smallish objects. You should slow down gradually before you get there, and not fly fast it again and again!
--Why not animate the jump gates!!?? You have such awesome models and stuff. It's lame to just disappear and somehow get magically transported to some other place. It is glitchy too, and somewhat annoying. Why not, on activating the jump gate, automatically align the ship so that it is directly facing the gate, then go forward, then play an animation similar to the warp, but briefly, fade to black, show a loading screen and then briefly animate the player emerging on the other side. All in the space of about 10 seconds. I really think you should work on this, as jumping is a very big part of the game!!
--Targeting things in this game is somewhat of a chore, and difficult to do when in combat. I'm still just a newb, but I think you should find out how to make this easier, maybe through shortcuts/hotkeys. Double clicky the enemy could simultaneously lock on and start shooting
--Lastly I miss the ability to fly manually using my own skill from games like freespace. I think you could give us a manual mode where we can adjust our speed and direction of flight using the movement of the mouse and the arrowkeys.

While it has improved with what 1.0.3 gave me, 1.0.4 still has a lot of mem leakage, page faults, and really starts to gobble CPU the longer I am logged in. These are not problems I had pre-1.0.3.
As a hauling/trader, I jump often, stayed logged in for hours(active), and have the market and wallet screens open constantly.
One thing I did notice, that unlike with the mem issues in 1.0.3, docked inactivity will slowly cause mem usage and cpu cycles to drop. Although still not to pre-QR levels. -- Chribba's LoveQuest 17:00hrs Dec. 20th (Prizes!!)

1. You need to select the structure and activate it either via the "selected item" interface or by right clicking it. It may help to hover over the icon to separate the gate from the beacon as they are sometimes quite close.
2. I assume you are talking about how your ship will jump back a little when coming out of warp, not a bug.
3. Re-arranging planets to optimise a solarsystem to have no planets in the most used warp paths would probably not produce very believeable solarsystem layouts
4. The sound effect is not meant to be anything like an evil laughter.
5. You can sell a ship, but there may not be anyone buying that type of ship. Eve has a player driven market, only a small percentage of market items are NPC trade.
6. I'm not sure what you are asking for here.
7. Going faster and faster into infinity would not be feasible for gameplay purposes.
8. It is quite easy to reduce your speed manually to achieve this, I'm pretty sure we would not be able to create a system that could correctly fulfill your expectations for this.
9. Hold down CTRL and click the target, either on your overview or the icon in space.
10. No.

Problem fixed with a reboot. I didn't see any mention of a reboot needed when the patch was applied. It's also not particularly practical to have to reboot just to patch Eve so I hope this isn't going to be common in future. |

Since a few people already reported experiencing page faults, here is to clear up a common misconception.
A page fault, unlike its name suggests, is not a bad thing but something created by any software to indicate to the hardware that some data it would like to work with is not currently mapped to the physical memory. While the best case scenario is having everything mapped into the physical memory at all time, it is not feasable, you are after all limited to whatever amount of RAM you have and can not load everything in there. The strategy to determine which pages (sets of data) are mapped out of memory at what time is nothing any sofware, be it eve, windows or whatever you are running simultaniously, can control but is determined by the hardware level of you computer. A page fault is the interrupt to the hardware to (re-)load a set of data, not having them would create complete chaos and shiny bluescreens of death.
For a more techy description, wikipedia is your friend.

In the past we have seen how unrelated things affect each other here in Eve. And this might be one of these.
I have a hunch though, and that from seeing the updating seem slow. Since cap is server side, and it should be to avoid exploits, it might be there where you should look.

Hello Gangleri
Yes I seen the other posts, but for me the issue started today, haven't seen it previously.
Now I will backpedal somewhat though, it looks like I barked up the wrong tree.
Mostly looks it might have been some weird lag or desync issue emulating (making it look like while it isnt) the thing reported by others. After the post I did see shield continue to go down after all NPC's had been killed in one lvl 4 miss. Also cap and shield not updating after docking sitting in station a while and undocking twice. (Even unfitted the ship while inside second time.) All that point toward some kind of lag issues and not a cap bug. So yes you can safely disregard my previous post for the time being.

Okay guys, Has anyone else experienced a complete system crash since the last update?
On 12/19/08 during Eve game play my computer crashed. White and black diagonal lines went across my screen and my computer shut down. It will no longer boot at all.
A few days before, my brother's computer did the same thing, with the same graphic display. Very weird since we have completely different systems. He is able to reach the bios but when it hits the Windows screen it shuts down. He lives across town in his own house. The only thing we have in common on our computers is Eve. His is a gaming computer and mine is a work computer. We have played Eve together for nearly 2 years with few problems. All this has happened since the last patch.
This might have been considered a really bad coincidence with just the two of us until this morning when another player, living across the country experienced the same thing. Again the only thing that our computers have in common is Eve.
My corp CEO had the issue with the deleted .ini file from the coding error. Is this another problem like that? If so, what do we do now?

Originally by: Lifelongnoob i too get steadily increasing lag due to memory leak........if u plugged the memory leaks in patch 1.0.4 did u make sure the plugging material was not disolvable? cos i see a worse lag now than before patch 1.0.4... i use xp sp3 with a dual core intel cpu and 2gb or ddr 2 ram and 128mb ati graphics
Can you open up your in-game monitor (control-shift-alt-m) when you start up the game and then when you experience these leaks take a screenshot of the 'memory graph' tab and send in in a bugreport with a description of how you arrived at the leak.
Other than that, putting resource cache to 'off' is recommended if you are experiencing memory limitations.

I'm not having the cap issues, but I'm thinking this might perhaps be related to jump clones? Maybe if you make a clone jump the cap related skills are not updated properly. I base this on the fact that clone jumping is not always working properly right now as you have to log out and in again to actually see that you made a clone jump. If this doesn't work it doesn't seem far fetched to assume the skill update not to working perfectly either.
After a restart either of the game or the computer the skills might be updated correctly again and after that the people that reported problems don't have the problems anymore.
So those that reported problems: have you made a clone jump recently?

I'd just like to put in my 2 cents regarding the patcher's forced-reboot that was in the notes for 1.0.3.
First off, I love the game and appreciate everything CCP does.
Anyway, I have always considered it very poor form to require a reboot after installing any piece of software. I understand the reason for this, but I'm thinking there has to be a better way.
I run Vista x64 SP1 and was told by the patcher it was going to reboot my system after applying 1.0.4. Without clicking OK, I pulled up taskmgr and found that ExeFile was still running. Is there some problem that precludes the client from properly exiting after launching the patcher? I realize you might not want the patcher to outright kill the process since somebody could be running a patched client while updating a second client, but rebooting is something I try to do infrequently.
As a workaround for those who don't like to be forced into rebooting, there is a solution. If you're not familiar with the PendingFileRenameOperations key in the registry, stop now. I'm not about to be responsible for hosing your system. I'm sure you may be used to ignoring this type of disclaimer whenever the registry is mentioned, but this is one of those keys that truly can bring the pain if you screw up.
Once the patcher has finished and is telling you it will reboot, kill the patcher process and ExeFile. Open up regedit and browse to the aforementioned value in CCS\Control\Session Manager. When viewing the RenameOps value, never hit OK since regedit has a bug that won't let you save blank lines in MULTI_SZ and will gladly strip them out for you. If there are blank lines they are needed (export the Session Manager key before opening if you are the click-happy type).
The value works in pairs of lines -- the first is the file as it exists, the second is what to rename that file. A blank line for the second line in a pair basically means delete the file in the first line. It is more complicated than that, but this should suffice for now. You should see temp files and what to rename them in your Eve folder(s). Manually perform these renames/overwrites/deletions. You can now safely delete the reg value if the only operations were for Eve and all were manually completed successfully.
Once that is done, you can run your patched Eve client without needing to reboot.

Edit: I forgot to mention that an even easier workaround is to make sure ExeFile isn't running before hitting Next in the patcher.
Yes, the problem was that some users were having issues with locked files. Most likely due to the client not being closed properly for some reason. This resulted in a lot of complaints about failed patching so the patcher was changed to require a system reboot if there were locked files. This has resulted in some negative feedback but less than before. ------------------

Thank you for your bug report. Your report ID is 67911
I have two examples: 1 which works as described and 1 which does not work as described.
1 case a char is in the corp 7 days and corp standings update 1 case a char is in the corp 7 days and corp standings DID NOT UPDATE.
example 1 picture http://eve-files.com/dl/182507 example 2 picture http://eve-files.com/dl/182508
Can I get an answer from CCP on what is different b/c I fully expected the 2nd corp to update?

It's the first one that shouldn't have been updated at that point. The second one will update at DT tomorrow.

Dec 21 at 01:26 until Dec 28 at 01:26 is 7 days.
Downtime is at 11:00 Eve Time on Dec 28 (today).
The character would be in corp for more than 7 days when downtime ocurred.
Every other corp has updated at 7 downtimes not 8. Therefore, the 2nd example is the error, not the first.

Well, Quantum suck still sucks. I have 4 accounts and have been able to play on two systems with no problems. Eve is still crashing on exit.
Here is the system even log error: Faulting application ExeFile.exe, version 5.20.1.5197, faulting module python25.dll, version 2.5.3100.1013, fault address 0x0002bf87.
It pulled a minidump for submittal to MS that I copied out. Windows XP Professional SP (x-64) AMD 64x2 4400 (21.21GHz) 2GB of RAM ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Motherboard. Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX

Only issue I've been getting is the odd pc lag spikes which I assume is this memory leak issue people keep going on about. Only hangs for about 3 seconds at a time though but after a few hours it seems to happen on a more regular basis.

After 1.0.4 something went really wrong with clone jumps:
- Pause training - Clone jump - Client hangs totally, you can see just that your pod has exited current ship -> log off & relogin - Now I'm in my new location, great
However, about 50% of time after this happens, my client is in total desync and fixed only after next DT. Following stuff has been observed:
- About 20% of random modules in all my ships in hangar are in offline state - Modules can be onlined, but they stay offline visually - Any further attempt to online module says "module is already online" - Modules seem to show themselves online and activate in space normally after another relogin. However activating module only seems to enable the effect but doesn't show module activated. For example, ships run with MWD speed but mwd is not on and no capacitor is spent and if I cloak, I cannot uncloak because cloak is not active and interference cloaking prevent me from activating cloak :)
Additional Relogins do not resolve issue and I need to wait until dt to fix state of client.
What is going on here? |
