This is indeed a problem atm. Providence region used to have some dark ochre and gneiss but now has no Zydrine giving ores at all. Is Providence only for NPC hunting? Come on CCP, sort the ore distribution out!

Problem is many greedy miners mine all the crok and there for the ore distribution goes up the creek. It's difficult to respective mining when everybody is so crok hungry.
And 0.0 space is unregulated, as it should be, so access to these rare minerals should be difficult.
Happy ore hunting ^^ ---------------------------------

Prices of zydrine have gone up because of northern war which discourages mid-range miners to mine in pure-blind (namely EC-P8R). EC-P8R was one of the greatest suppliers of zydrine. There is usually lots of crokite (even 20 roids per belt), which yields highest amount of zydrine per m3 of any ore.
On the other hand.. alliances which fight the wars, have access to arkonor and bistot and are mining only that.. flooding the market with cheap megacyte (they need money fast to replace ships, so they lower the prices). And that's why megacyte is almost twice as cheaper as it was 6 months ago.
Currently a jet-can (27500m3) of crokite is worth over 20mil. Bistot is only fraction more valuable at the moment...

I say they either make a little Gneiss and Spodumain pop up in low-sec empire from time to time, or remove the Mega and Zyd requirements on frigates and cheap cruisers, and their mods. I can understand needing to go to 0.0 to get ultra-rare stuff thats needed for tech2 and big battleships and stuff, but making people have to do that even to make little crappy stuff is just lame. (and IMO it gives the rich people a bit too much control over the poor people) _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

if u want to help increase supplys i ay stop hoarding loot u dont use and recycle it. From named smart bomb in medium to large sizes, U get a good 45 units per medium. And this applys to structure repairers to.

I think whats needed is to drastically increase the ammount of zydrine available.
ATM it is selling for more than 4 times the NPC cost for it. This clearly shows a huge supply problem.
I would suggest that they put something similar to Pyrox into higher sec space where it can be mined, even as high as .5-.6 space. say 500 units or ore per refine, and lots of tritanium, pye, but maybe 3-5 zydrine per refine, and make it similar to kernite in the unit size.
That way it becomes much more available, the trit and pye shortages people seem to also be having lately are corrected, (because lets face it, people will mine the hell out of it to get the zydrine they need) and zydrine prices come down to more acceptable levels where it can become profitable to produce again.

why is the answer to every shortage "lets have more of it".
Lets try to retain some element of challenge in the game.

Lets do that and make the systems that yield rare ores less static.

Zydrine (or Megacyte for that matter) will never be mineable outside of 0.0 because that would undermine the politcal and consequentally the PvP importance of the 0.0 regions.

One of the reasons that some regions don't have much Zyd producing ore is the stupid greedy miners pop the roids instead of leaving them with a few hundred units in them. The seem to grow faster if they don't have to spawn back but try getting good old Roidy McOrehumper to not just mine every little thing he can get his grubby miner 2's on.

Thanks for all the feedback. I started this topic because I spend most of my time in the 'southern' regions of EvE. Some time ago, as has been mentioned, regions such as Providence had Dark Ochre and Gneiss which have been removed completely, not mined. Regions further out, like Tenerifis, had some Crokite aswell as some Bistot. These got replaced with Spodumain (no zyd) and Arkonor. The problem here is that anyone mining these regions will not be bringing in the larger amounts of zydrine that are required by a growing number of the EvE playerbase. Megacyte is, imho, probably at the right price now, NPC valuation being roughly 2/3 of player set prices. I have no idea why Dark Ochre and Gneiss need to be rarer than the megacyte producing ores, especially in the 'southern' regions. With 0.0 space only a few jumps away from my 'base' system, I have difficulty understanding why I need to travel to the other side of the map to mine for zydrine. If I am prepared to go into 0.0, give me my reward. Even if only Gneiss distribution was increased, that would help a lot. And NO, no rare mineral giving ores in empire please. I enjoy the challenge of bringing the stuff home.

Fto Cruise, you are in the wrong bit of 0.0.
As has been pointed out, it is likely ore distribution within 0.0 has been created to give alliances a reason to try to hold regions of space and also fight for other areas.
If all the rare ores were available in all the 0.0s then it would get cozy quickly amongst the bigger alliances and they would slowly/quickly squeeze everything else out of existence but themselves and a few non-alliance members mining Veld in Yulai.
