Ok, so what's with the lack of zydrine producing ores? Once upon a time every 0.0 region had some ores that gave it up. A little dark ochre, some gneiss and if you got lucky some crokite too. The other day though, having seen the prices for zydrine go over 4500, I searched a few 0.0 regions. Crokite didnt exist in most of them, one region had some dark ochre but that was next to arkonor (tough choice on what to mine there) and one region had no zydrine giving ores at all!! Now it aint that I won't go mine it myself, because I will. I just think there needs to be more of the lower class ores, like gneiss, to mine.

Edited by: Laendra on 19/07/2004 16:16:00 I would tend to agree with you on this. Zydrine producing ores (ones that don't contain Megacyte and/or Morphite), should be in the closest 0.0 systems (i.e. right outside of Empire space), continuing outwards in higher frequency into the outer regions, while the more rare Megacyte and Morphite producing ones should be further and further out. I should ALWAYS be able to find more Zydrine producing ore in 0.0 than Megacyte and Morphite producing ones, just as the lower ores should be more abundant than the Zydrine producing ores... ------------------- |

Well iirc, PF-346 has some Dark Ochre, and EC-P8R has some Crokite.
Always hit the big red button whenever you get the chance.

I know it sucks.
I had to jump 40 jumps to find a little gneiss.
Good luck finding crokite.
Are all the good ores being mined by NPC's or something? Man I'd like to find that mother load of an indy filled with 1 million zydrine.

I used to mine about 2k Zydrine a day, it sold within an hour after putting it on the market.
Most 0.0 systems appear to be quite worthless and the ones who do have good ores always seems to be +5 jumps from a refinery.
Until shiva comes out, every alliance will set up outposts in systems with high end ores and the market will be flooded with them ---------------------------

I know where to find each type of ore I just think that having regions of 0.0 with NO zydrine producing ores inflates the prices of minerals to ridiculously high levels. At current values the zydrine cost of a tier 2 battleship is around 40% of it's total, not to mention being over 4 times the NPC valuation of the mineral.

Zyd's a pain the ass to get. You need nearly 3x more Zyd than Mega for most ships, and there aren't 3x more Zyd yielding roids out there.
It's harder to get Zydrine (in the numbers required) than it is to get Megacyte, the supposed "rarest" mineral in the EVE universe...

Yeah, Zydrine is a major pain in the bottom to obtain. You either need to purchase it at about 4,000-5,000 ISK per piece, which means you have to pay about 3-4 million ISK to buy enough to build a Thorax, or you mine it from 0.0 areas that are taken over by so many pirates you'd get killed before you managed to fill 10% of your cargo hold. You could do group mining, but it's quite a hassle to get enough people to organise it.
The only other way to get it is mining loot from dead npc pirates and zydrine is given up in as big a quantity as megacyte... ---------------

It doesn't matter. If there would be more Zydrine around, the price would be lower, so you would mine more Zydrine, but still get the same amount of isk for it. I know some of you guys just mine it to build something, but there is no difference if you mine the zydrine to build something or if you buy it. Because if you mine it, you are still NOT selling it for 4500. Difficult to understand for some here obviously, but then again those are the people I make money off. |

Well, the real bugbear is that it drives the prices of player made items above the prices of NPC built ships. It is actually much more cost and time effective now to mine up heaps of Megacyte, sell it to the NPCs, and simply buy the items you want for isk.
What with the messed up prices, it cost me little more to buy a Tempest outright, then it would have cost me to build a Typhoon. That's just stupid.
