And if you can't stop yourself block all your cookies and disable java & javascript
Oh and use Mozilla Firefox instead of ie

Upgraded from 1800+ to a 3400+ recently.
Did it help? Heck yeah.
Load up faster, more FPS and less trouble with lag.
Dudes blanking? All they cause will be more lag because of client checking out the stuff files in a couple of weeks. You bet they will implement checkups on clients to catch cheaters.

also Gundog... You should try this website look under the guides section there are many little tips and things you can do to improve your pc performace. I am assuming you are running WinXP though =)
