i see problems in those things : - GUI (why teh hell i cannot turn off this stupid lights on it ??? and why making background total solid (w/o transparency) dnt give any improvement??
- memory leak ( after couple hours of play u have even problems with draging multiple items from cargo to can etc. etc.)
1 example from tooday bkg thingy ... we warped in on evol/m0o fleet at station ... and guess what? 1 min freeze (i closed all windows to avoid this but it sisnt help :/ )
and last thing is ... why we cannot change gfx details? O_o

Aye, I have ~1.5 gig RAM, decent comp, decent gfx card.
Prior to the RAM upgrade, it could take me ages to load.
Now, while my FPS didn't really improve (duh), loading of objects in space is FAR better.
Good times will always be remembered. Sleep well, old friends. |

Gundog,
Where do you live?
I've got a Geforce Ti4200 128MB gfx card I don't need so if you're in the UK I'd be happy to send it to you.
I've also got about 1GB of 333mhz DDR RAM you could have (assuming thats an improvement over your current setup).

That freaky lighthingy on the GUI cost ****loads.
They should set the ship models LOD's ranges dynamically so that you can in the graphics setting change the graphics detail just like all other games. (you basically change the lodĘs ranges, which means your ship will switch to a lower poly version at closer range then t0rfiFrans meant it to be. )
aye the client needs some lovin.

1 Gig of RAM will definitely help will all games - not just EVE. Less swapping means faster load time for levels/ships. The GUI is one of the reasons as some Moo members pointed out, it is rendered as 3D objects with alpha blending and that can decrease the FPS significantly if badly coded. CCP has to switch them to a single plane alpha blending ( you'd lose the sun lighting effect but frankly nobody gives a damn ) layer, to be honest...

In my exprience it is not the power of the PC that is the problem its Server/Client Lag my PC is a P4 3.2GHz Processor, 2GB DDR400 RAM, 120GB Serial ATA Hard Drive and Radeon X800 Graphics Card and i still suffer in larger battles from uber lag even with 2meg Internet Connection.

I have an Athlon XP 2500, 512 MB DDR Ram and a Radeon 9600, I think that should really be an okay system, not high-end but its sufficient for playing games like Far Cry with good graphics.
In Eve though, whenever warping/jumping/undocking and a lot of ships is around, it freezes for quite a while to load them.
I really DEMAND from CCP to do something about that, I was very angry when I lost 200mill in the T2 nerf but the only thing that ever brought me really close to cancelling my subscription is those unnecessary freezes (and I even haven't lost a ship due to it so far). Can't be so difficult to add an option to replace the ship models with 2D icons and it would make thousands of players very happy.

No problems - I'll send them on today by recorded delivery.
You should get them tomorrow.
The card is a AGP (8x) ASUS Ti4200 128mb V9280 - the drivers can be found here.
The RAM is DDR RAM 184-pin Samsung PC2700 (333Mhz) so it's basically only for AMD-compatible motherboards. I'll send it on just in case that's what you have.
