Im sat in Baviasi looking at the market. Scammers are charging 75mil isk for Caldari or Amarr cruiser skills. They way the prices are laid out on the eve market its easy to get caught out.
Luckily this time i wasnt. But this is starting to suck. People are using alts to scam others, pricing basic items massively and assuming others wont notice til its too late.
No doubt some of u will say tough luck, should have checked the price again and again b4 buying. But thats total crap 75 mil for a cruiser skill is robbery..thats all it is. Lame players with 1 day old alts trying to rip others off. Not my idea of a fun game. lol just looked again chargung 125 mil for an industrial piloting skill
Come on CCP, stop the alts.

I think alts should stay personally, but that they could be associated with the other characters of the same player. It's fun to play a Matari EW specialist one minute and then a Gallente miner the next.
As for the scamming, I still believe it should stay. You find scammers in the real global markets in macro and micro scales. But, as with everything you are planning on making a monetary investment on, you should still always watch the prices.
Hell, just recently I bought a Stabber and had to move across three regions because the only prices in the region I was in were around 10 million. I headed over and found one for 4.5 million, which was still over the going rate, but not by far.
It's called shrewd business sense. ~~~~~ Eve System > Channel changed to Kehour Local Channel

Edited by: Del Narveux on 20/07/2004 00:19:10 I think the best solution is to use region-wide search and detailed price-list table to get around it. Even if youre lazy and use the buy-now on region level, the worst that should happen outside of 0.0 regions is you end up with a 30 jump trip to get your stuff. I personally have no problems with the scammers, I say if you buy without checking the price its really no different from going into Walmart, takin an item off the shelf without checking price, and then handing the clerk your credit card and say "Dont tell me what it costs, just put it on this here card."
Especially with the new above/below average warning dialog, its really hard to be oblivious to what youre paying for it. Scamming is lame for sure, but CCP cant and shouldnt do anything about the scamming becuase that basically tells people "You cant sell your stuff above market average, even if youre competing with idiots who price their crap below the mineral value, or you make a business out of inter-region trade."
Edit: Linking alts to their other char(s) would be interesting, and probably help with not just scamming, but crap like ore/corp theft and griefing. And, most people like me who legitimately use multiple characters probably wont care one way or the other if you can link them up (I would actually kinda like it if people could link my chars). _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

The thing is scams are part of the freedom of eve and a learning experience for people. I've been scammed myself and yes it hurts but the fact is it makes things alot more interesting and makes it feel like a real cut throat market.
Start putting restrictions on everything and slowly bbut surely you start killing the main feature to eve : Freedom.
That said somthing should be done about the use of alts in constant scams as its just a means to hide from the consquences of your actions. Maybe a name and shame sort of system where people can see others alts, would be interesting to see who is behind the alts making the scams.
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it... |

Exactly. Sage advice indeed.
Certainly scammers suck...escrow is rife with them. I will never forget when I paid a million a piece for basic drones.

I got just the solution: A warrenty on what you buy in escrow. You can refund it within x minutes of purchase and the seller cannot recieve money until timer has run out; to prevent spending without redemptions. This would make it so if the product is not what you wanted, you can refund it.

Aligning the prices to the right instead of the left would make it easier to spot the difference between 10,000,000.00 and 10,000.00. Being aligned to the left tricks the eye into thinking they are same.

All it takes is a few banning from CCP then scaming will stop. Other MMOGs deal with scamers with 3 warning then ban policy, not sure why CCP don't. Consider scamers will cost the company custmers.

Scammin is like telling someone that they could buy a Ming vase for ú300,000 and then, after paying the money without getting it checked, finding out it's from Ikea.

Why would they do that? Scamming is a vital part of the overall gaming experience. Scamming is allowed by CCP,I have asked myself. Even Corp Theft is allowed.
Note: Scamming , not spamming is allowed. So everybody take your 50+ escrows of the same bpc off escrow, you might get reported for spamming. |
