Should I start complaining? With my security rating I can't enter empire space at all, I would be instaganked by uber Concord. You just lack the skills to enter 0.0 :) Nobody can enjoy 100% of the game, but except for pirates most have the option to do it.

I think you make a good point! But really when your job is based upon killing and maiming other peoples characters that they also spend time advancing then I feel thats a fair enough restriction on you but for the harmless we dont want to PvP or just plain noobish characters they deserve in my mind to be able to explore the game to the full! And you could always turn away from the darkside! And join the carebears annual Picnic.
I myself love the PvP aspect and want more more more! But its not really about PvP anymore its usually Player v 10 Players

Gav,
Here's how you explore 0.0:
Login to the game and on one of the empty slots choose create new char.
Select a race/class combo that gives good navigation. Brutor military school is a good one.
Logon on new char and go to the mouth of the system you are interested. Find the nearest cloning station and dock, move your clone there.
Buy a shuttle off the local market and go pick it up.
Most camping situations are only at one gate not both. So look at your people in space and get an idea where the blockades are.
Jumping into a system in a shuttle is fairly risk free. Jump in and if no one at that gate you must assume they are at the other gate. Warp to a moon or something and bring up f11 map.
Look for objects near the next gate. Warp to one of them. Bring up range scanner you should see if people are camping. You may have to talk to them about a toll or if you are lucky and there are objects on both sides of this gate.
If you are lucky then warp to one object first, warp to the gate at 60k and quickly add a bookmark and warp away before they can scramble you. Now go to the object that is directly on the other side of the gate and warp to your new BM 60k away. Should put you damn close to the gate usually enough to make a run.
Even if you fail what's the loss? 10k for shuttle? Cheaper if someone is offloading them.
That and you can always wait certain blockades out. Eventually there will just 1-2 people at that gate or none and you sneak through. Once past choke points 0.0 is actually quite peaceful.
Anyway there are always options as the game stands now to do whatever it is you want to do.

Very good point and thanks for the advice but one thing what about players wanting to take on some NPC pirates for a change in 0.0? Try that in a shuttle and tell me how it goes?
But still its good to see there are some options at least

Gav,
No you won't be taking on any NPC pirates out there in a shuttle.
While although I recommend two pilots minimum for hunting un-authorized in alliance controlled spaces. Here's how you do it:
As we discussed about the the throw away shuttle pilot. Use him to scout out a place to hunt. Create travelling bookmarks to this new location. Off of main routes is ideal.
Travelling bookmarks are also reffered to as insta-bookmarks. To create one you simply warp to the intended gate from your intended starting point (usually another jump-in point near a gate). Double click just above or below the gate and lock the gate. Once you have reached 7k from the gate (on the other side) and the gate is directly between you and the distant starting point add a bookmark. Name it appropriately.
Most alliance members, pirates and fellow travellers have these already created in their area of influence and can lend chase quite effectively so keep that in mind.
Create a decent safe-spot bookmark within the system you intend to hunt.
Go back to where your main is logged, find a way to xfer the bookmarks via secure can outside station is probably not bad.
On your main get into an indy. Put on some warp core stabilizers and anything else that can add a few hit points. I would recommend a minimum of two WCS. if not four. Buy two giant secure containers (most indy pilots can fit two) If not, a combo of huge/large/ginats to fill your capacity.
When tarffic is low or non-existant at the choke points make your run using you bookmarks. Anchor the cans in the safe spot (make sure you anchor them!!!) There is a bug where somtimes when you launch for corp they show as anchored. They are not. Un-anchor and re-anchor to be sure.
Now you have two options here. Either leave the indy here or take it back. If you plan on making multiple trips leaving it here isn't so bad. In fact if you are so inclined use an alt to fly the indy and only train him enough to fly an indy (you wont lose implants or much money in clones if he does get caught).
Now bring your main in to the area. If you are hunting alone the do your research:
Do max range scans from the different belts. What other objects come up? Are there any belts within range of the stargates? How many total belts in the system? You have to know how long it would take someone to track you down if they came in and decided to try and get you.
Don't ever hunt in 0.0 without drones or some way to kill elite frigates. Smartboms are not absolute there are frigates who orbit outside of 5k.
As you collect loot fill up the secure containers and when full make a run back with the indy alt.
Again I don't really like hunting solo in 0.0 just in case. But it too can be done. A friend in an ECM equipped scorpion just makes you feel warm and cuddly somehow.

any player that can solo 0.0 npc battleships has enough skills to easily get past the player pirates in 0.0 so i don't think that is really an issue.
if all you want to do is explore- then 0.0 is easy to fly around in and fun because of the danger to a solo player. with moderate skills you can get past most campers (mwd). if you are so new that you do not have these skills then you would be able to hunt npc in 0.0 anyway.
a new player should probably not be venturing into most dangerous space right away. best to be skilling up while exploring the lower sec of empire space and preparing for more dangerous space later. then as soon as you get moderates skills you should be able to go 2,000m/s or faster, so you can easily get into 0.0 to explore by yourself.
i imagine many folks try 0.0 too early and get killed , then are afraid to try again as if it were impossible to get through- which is not true. it is largely a matter of perception for a lot of folks. but certainly don't attempt to run a gatecamp if you have low skills and fly slowly as you described, that would indeed be suicide;)

Gav m8 there r many systems that i think are meant for people who want to fight larger npc rats, try Kpb7 or Ec-p8r,whenever i go there i find battleship rat spawns, sometimes even 2-3 in a belt, though when i go further into the 0.0's i on't find any until really far in,it might just be me though :) imho try a few systems 1-2jumps in if u want the rats

I hear ur points, but what of us players who have played for a long time, donĘt we deserve space that is dangerous and not forgetting when I brought eve it was meant to be a hardcore fighting game. So ok u noobs have ur space, but leave ours alone. ItĘs bad enough that a frig can lock down a BS or that drones which are meant to be small fast guns (me thinks) have trouble targeting u, not to mention all the gun nerfĘs auto cloaking at gates etc, now u want to hunt is 0.0 space with no dangerą come on be fair! U want to come into 0.0 train, insure, clone and pray like the rest of usąI was in 0.0 within weeks of playing eve and almost got killed by pirates, it was part of the funą
Good post, but u have it easy enoughą

I've sympathy with both sides of this argument, but there is one point I just have to question.
Some people have argued that they should be able to experience the whole of the game (i.e. explore anywhere) but in how many similar games is that possible ? Would you expect to be able to check out a dragon's lair during your first week in Everquest ? (for example) Eve is probably the most openly explorable mmog on the market atm.
Yes, I hate blockades too, and I'd much rather there were different reasons for 0.0 being dangerous, but if you have the skills and experience (or friends) you can get through.

I think 'noobish' character should not be able to explore the game to the full. No way, you should be able to explore it once you learn how to do it. And no, I can't turn away from the darkside, you can't get your sec rating up to 0.0 without getting bored and leaving the game. That is why I say pirates are the only restricted player type in this game, you can always turn to a pirate but you can't turn back, screwed for the rest of your playing time.

Being a pirate, or not, is all about who you choose to kill and how.
Sec status has little to do with it, poachers can become gamekeepers.
The lines are pretty blurred anyway given the pirate, anti-pirate thing is basically an unofficial war that rages constantly within the eve universe. And in war we all know most rules end up going out of the window at some point on the basis, "the end justifies the means" or some other self-serving statements.
