How about this one ccp.....
why the hell do you put very "touchy" and critical buttons RIGHT NEXT to each other on the menus? example - why the hell would you put the "put online" option RIGHT NEXT to the "manage" option on the pos menu????!!!! I just lost 21 days of research on ALL the BPO's that I had in research because I wanted to check the fuel level of the tower!!! Some more examples are the "leave fleet" option RIGHT NEXT to the "leave corporation" option on gang menus. How about the "self destruct" option RIGHT NEXT to the "eject" option on the ship menus. Or how about this one....the "reprocess" option RIGHT NEXT to the "show info" option, OR better yet, the "trash it" option RIGHT NEXT to the "view market details" option.
What the hell were you thinking. Whoever designed the menus this way needs a freaking dose of anti-dumb syrup. Seriously, who does that?
Mind fixing it ccp?

This is CCP and there no drink and pilot scheme. to make sure that everyone is completely aware of everything there doing.
I completely agree with you. It is really risky having these menus mapped the way they are.

Don't drink and manage POS's.
Seriously... I dont see the problem.... if you hit the wrong button and don't bother checking your work.... why bother blaming someone for 10 digit interface errors?

Oh, trsut me....after the initial....****mothergod****edamncrap...it turns to masochistic, sinister laughter when I realize that I lost about 1.75 bil in research on 14 cap ship component bpos. the whiskey is now helping.

I feel your pain brother. I've lost many bpo (rigs only ) because of the "trash it" and "make active" being so close. I was so sad and the Gm sad something to the effect of, we don't reimburse ships for any reason, including ****ty menu design. So now I just drag my ships to make active.
I agree, they should rework it a little.

i agree that it is a little dangerous to have such things close together, but it's nothing that paying attention to what you click wont fix

This.
I bore witness to someone in local being so drunk that he wanted to repackage his (then 1.5bil) Naven. He instead trashed it.
A week later it got reimbursed and CCP eventually moved the buttons closer to eachother for more lulz and to keep their GM team occupied.

I agree that this is a problem, especially the "trash it" one. Heck I don't even know why we need a "trash it" option at all. But regardless, I think CCP should fix the menus.
One thing I'd like is an option for clicking to open submenus. I often right-click in space to go to asteroid belts, planets, or moons, which is a two or three level menu, and the text is so tiny that it's often hard to select the planet and moon that I want. Making each submenu require a click would make it much easier for me.
............. Now recruiting like-minded pilots. |

Edited by: Tais on 30/12/2008 07:02:37 Actually this is your personal problem. Look were you clickin.
But yes, abit annoying. Lot's of time i turned off jump-bridges insted of jumping.
And most heavy result was when Atlas alliance member accidentaly turned off control tower. They lost station.

Thats actually pretty funny.

I actuaqlly agree.. And about tiny text- you can fix that if you bother looking through your settings, i am fine with the menu. If you missclick make windows larger in your settings. It is ok, since we have confurmation windows IMAO

I concur - they should at least move all the critical ones to the bottom that are about destroying something, etc.. or at the very minimum have a confirmation window :)

You guys do know there is this nice little popup that says are you sure you want to offline this pos, mod, etc.
Are you sure you want to selfdestruct.
Are you sure you want to leave this corp,
TBH its your own ****ing fualt you turned the warnings off, just to save your clicking yes. so get over it and stop being stupid.

I agree. I don't like having Self Destruct RIGHT next to Starbase password. Same with Eject, bad position on those context menus.

Sounds like people that complain about viruses and stuff on a windows computer... when they simply click ok on any popups or disable the warnings vista and the av throw up
The UI warns ya, but it's not the game or dev's fault if ya turns off the warnings... or always click yes.

OP is right on target. The selection of menu item placement for many of the items is just plain sheer stupidity. So stupid in fact -- that it could only have been done on purpose and just left "as is" for some idiotic reason that befuddles most of us. Aside from a few fan-shmucks on this thread, I've met no one who didn't laugh at the placement of few of the menu items and just shake their heads in wonderment at, "Yeah...what WERE they thinking on that 'Trash It' positioning" kind-of-thing.
Many of the placements are just plain laughable to anyone who has an inkling of UI design. Particularly in light of how easy it is to change them. Like I said, they must be done like this on purpose. Probably to find an easy way to help some in-game inflation to go "bye-bye" the humorous way. Hey! That's not so idiotic after all!

How about the "Create Contract" near "Sell Item"(I think, at least, DT at the moment), it annoys me so much when I'm trying to sell tons of loot items and etc., commonly opening the contract window instead
