Why should Trit be balanced?
1) Of 16 ores in the game 13 provide varying amounts of Tritanium.
2) Most items require about 1/3 to 1/2 mins to be Trit., yet it is the least sought after ore?
3) Recycle of NPC loot gives back larger quanities of Trit then any other mineral. (see item 2)
Ok how does changing this solve some problems? If fewer ores gave trit then people would be forced to mind Veldspar, even in 0.0 space.
1) By being forced to mine Veldspar for tritanium, you reduce the amount of Planet size Veldspar asteroids. This in turn should decrease the "sticky asteroid" issue. (Note I said DECREASE not FIX).
2) As people will have to mine more Veldspar (which happens to make up over 50% of every asteroid belt) Other ores will have a chance to respawn.
3) Low end pirate loot increases in value if for no other reason then the amount of trit it yields on recycle. So less whining about loot tables being jacked. (which they are IMHO, but according to a lot of people they are not)
4) Battle losses will actually start to hurt the larger corps and in return make buying Trit more important. Therefore making it necessary to actually MINE VELDSPAR instead of just mining all the Scordite and Pyro out of every belt.
Now just to throw some numbers out there for you to think about:
Base refine quanity per CCP(more skills get you more quanity)
Veldspar = 750 Trit Scordite = 624 Trit and 312 Pyerite Pyroxeres = 633 Trit, 44 Pyerite, 90 Mexallon, and 8 Nocxium
Looking at the above is it any wonder why everyone strip mines everything but the Veldspar out of a belt? Market wise it would go a long way to balancing some stuff out. I don't mind that Mega is 8K and Zyd 5K. What I do mind is that someone mining Arknor is getting 250 Trit on top of the Mega, Zyd, and Morphite. That is 1/3 of the amount of mining just the Veldspar.
Compensate this by increasing the amounts of other mins found in a particular ore. For example remove Trit completely from Arknor and increase the Mega by 1 - 5 pieces.
This will force more trade between Empire and Non-Empire players. It will also have the side benefit of either forcing alliances/pirates to mine themselves or hire mining corps. If they start mining more themselves there are fewer people camping the gates, therefore opening up more chances for smaller corps to mine the high end ores.
This would also allow CCP to seed more high end ores because they will not be the only thing getting mined in Non-Empire. Thier value will not be reduced and it should not effect the price drastically. TRITANIUM WILL STILL BE THERE IN LARGER THEN LIFE QUANITY, YOU JUST WILL HAVE TO MINE VELDSPAR TO GET IT. 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

Dont forget that you get more veldspar per minute then you do scordite per minute.
And for that 250 trit you get from mining ark/bistot/whatever it takes a while to mine a refinable amount of it compared to seconds for veldspar. ................. |

You missed the point, not asking for Veldspar to be nerfed. Asking for Tritanium in other ores to be decreased and therefore increase the need to mine Veldspar.

Exactly my point, since you get large quanities Tritanium mining Veldspar, reducing the amounts in other ores will not upset the balance of the game. In fact in my opinion it will reduce some of the imbalances. 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

Heh, well, miners like some balancing (A.K.A. NERFing) just as much as a pvper wants to ensure there is some kind of balance between turret types.
This suggestion is beneficial. I like it. Send it off to the idea labs.

How will this increase the money made off Tritanium trading? Instead of getting 600 Trit from Scordite, a person will have to MINE VELDSPAR to get Tritanium. Something very few people do. You of all people should appreciate this change as it will reduce the "sticky asteroid" issue for you when you out hunting NPCs.

tbf, guys, Tritanium is trading at DOUBLE it's NPC price anyway - Zyd is at quadruple, mega is just under double.
Wait, here's a better idea - NERF megacyte!!
Seriously, I see what you're saying, I just disagree.

Edit - nStuff, another well thought out remark, I see.

Edited by: Archa on 22/07/2004 00:10:11 you have to be joking? Nobody will mine veldspar in 0 sec space because it is to hard to transport the tritanium. Why would you fly 20 jumps to transport tritanium to empire if you can mine it IN empire. Tritanium is already pretty expensive so i don't see the problem. The amount of tritanium given by high end ores are neglectable, it is petty cash. Simple because you have to mine 3200 units of ore to do 1 refine of arkanor (200 x 16) (250 trit) while you only require 33.3 units to refineone batch of veldspar (333 trit) So in the same time you mine 1 batch of arkanor (250 trit) you can mine 100 batches of veldspar (33300 trit)
