Just before Cristmas the danish court made it's verdict in the case "Isk buyer vs. Isk seller". The Isk buyer did not recieve the isk from the Isk seller and sued the company and lost... Being rich doesn't mean that you have to be smart. Total fail... Hoped he learned the lesson of not buying isk ever again.

From the amount of GTC they're saying it would buy, presumably 13,500 euros.
Which converts to over US$19,000.

Well a little googling would reveal the RL name of the player. But it would be against the EULA to post it here...

Well, it was obvious that the case fell through because of the legal status of virtual goods and money.
Though I don't know if I am going pity or the laugh at the guy, because of his sheer stupidity that's almost tragic. |

Ruling that PayPal transactions are by nature so totally insecure that nobody on the receiving end of a PayPal transaction has any obligation to deliver their product, and that you can't utilize the bank's chargeback service in such a case sounds awfully wonky. Kinda respecting the exact wording of the law but not the spirit of it... I mean what is a credit or debit card transaction but the movement of electronic money? The court says that a credit/debit card transaction can utilize chargeback but not a PayPal transaction, or at least that's what I was getting from the thread with the translated ruling.
But then I traded in Pre-Law courses for anthropology like six years ago though so I'm no legal scholar 
Regardless, talk about incinerating bbqpwnage of an ISK buyer. 20k USD ffs.

Maybe it is the translation but I'm not quite sure what the issue was. Was this a loophole in the commercial code or an issue of who needs to make the refund?
The way I read it is that the person should be looking to Paypal for a refund, not their bank. His bank seems to basically be saying they payed the money to Paypal and Paypal payed the ISK seller. He can't claim a chargeback on the VISA card because it wasn't used (directly) to purchase the product in question, but instead to purchase a electronic funds transfer for the product. Since the bank honored their end, and Paypal sent the money, there is no reason for the bank to refund the money. But then there is mention of some commercial codes and regulations so I may be missing something.
