Sure, a petition is the most useful way to deal with this but a post is appropriate, too. EVE culture is something that affects us all and discussion about it shouldn't be hidden away from public view. Talk about it as much as you like. I, for one, am waiting for CCP to take the issue of their degrading community seriously. Sure, you may still make bucketloads of money with servers full of racist, hateful retards - but why would you want to support such people. EVE can be a better place than this, goddamn, half the replies in this thread only reaffirm the OP. |

Hate speech? Really? Of all the politically correct fads of the past two decades, this one is the most idiotic, especially if you live in a nation where free speech is a right (that being said, CCP is a private company and can enforce whichever regulations they want). I am so sick and tired of whiny people crying about hate speech.
Here's an idea, how about you put on your big boy pants and just ignore it. Really? You're getting offended about a bunch of words, in a video game? There are many rights you're entitled to, but being offended isn't one of them. |

He is dealing with it: he is talking about it with others and asking whether everyone is fine with such things. The assumption that he'd be terribly upset about it, and that his cause (rather than talk about it with the community) would be to stop someone being mean to him personally on local is not really warranted based on the OP.
He is in fact dealing with it way better than someone who just stays quiet and hopes the smacktalkers go away (or blocks them). After all, it is just internet words. If he calls for better community standards against such words, what are they gonna do to him? More words on local? So what? He can petition and block them too. |

The category to petition under is Rules&Policies, and under that either EULA&TOS (that forbid such language) or Harassment (if it was directed to the petitioner personally enough).

Free speech, moreover, does not mean you can go anywhere and say anything and not expect to be removed from the premises.
