Anyone else find it funny that the OP and Kublais response are 3 minutes apart? You really do live here Kublai. Grats on the scam although I wouldn't put it past you to make the OP so you could get the PR. Good or bad You keep me entertained.

Well, considering he posted this directly after the deed was done.

Originally by: kublai A-War is NOT a merc corp, we have done some merc work, and we might do again but it's only for fun and we would only consider it if paid very well, but no, we're not a mercenary corp.
After this, if anyone "pays you very well" or even at all to do a merc job then they deserve to be scammed .

Actually the irony is A-War collected payment on a merc job like 30 minutes before you posted this for a job we *did* complete, if you want details you can visit our killboard and deduce.

Well, it seems it's still a crap shoot whether you'll fulfill a contract or not. I guess you decide who's to fulfill and who's not. Still makes your "client" from 30 minutes ago a fool for trusting you with his isk. Even if "this time" you decided to honor the contract.

Edited by: Matrix Skye on 31/12/2008 15:40:43 Oh I see. If it's a scam, then the individual did it, not the corp. If the contract is honored, then the corp takes prop. Gotcha :P. Now it's just a matter of figuring out when Kublai is doing business on behalf of his corp and when it's on behalf of himself .

ABP played no role in this scam... Its not something I do nor would even try to really because im rubbish at it.
In fact we were going to be the victims of this individuals bloated wallet had kublai not come a long and relieved him of his hard earned isk.
I put my name in the convo because i was invited to by kublai and i like most in eve enjoy seeing the tears of my enemies.
The accusations in the op are being made by an alt of the ceo of our current contract targets, hes obviously upset his plan to destroy us has back fired.
Our employer however will be very pleased to hear that the plan has failed and cost his enemy 3billion isk.
So i thank kublai for a scam well done and AE Rivven for giving me something to smile about. -------

I'm enjoying all these people that are taking this way to seriously... the gist of it is pretty simple really.
Kublai was attempting to garner intel on the target of the merc contract, thinking it was himself. Kublai found out that it was instead ABP that was the target, being friends with gods rod of justice he then attempted to discover the identity of the person initiating the contract. the only way to do this was to be in a position of power, easiest way to do this, take said persons money.
This wasn't a scam, it was an attempt to garner intelligence, the only way he could do this was through gaining an advantage, and in this case it was through isk.
congrats kublai on a game well played
and side note: lol at the original merc thread where everyone was recommending ABP to the contractor as the best merc corp who has beat most other merc corps, when they were the target... i'm still giggling

pretending to be a merc for hire isn't a scam.
OP is a ****** for giving someone isk. Kublai is a ****** for claiming he 'worked' this.

Couldnt you have just said "sorry no they are friends of ours we refuse to attack them no matter how much isk you give us" As this is what a proper mercernery alliance would do. That way there credibility as a mercenery alliance is intact.
The way you guys went about it I doubt you will get many contracts ever again tbh
So bascially peeps, the moral of this story is Dont hire Art Of War as there is a chance you could be contracting them to kill a friend of theres and then screw you over for it and take all your isk

it may have ended up seeming as one, but the primary goal wasn't to take isk, the goal was to discover the identity of the persons behind the contract, kublai just ended up getting some money with it.

Thank you
Oh and very nice, why do people never learn and do their research before they go throwing isk around like theres no tomorrow?

Yea I wouldnt blindly dump billions of isk to a pirate corp, masquerading as a Merc corp without some kind of track record.. I mean cmon Kublai ransomed your corp without even doing anything.. If it was a professional merc corp they wouldnt have scammed for a mere 3 bil, that would cover maybe 1-2 fleets of BS, or 2 carriers. I think the op learned a valuable lesson to research a merc corp before they blindly try to get anyone to wardec thier opponent for them.
That said, too funny kublai. CEO For the Hull Miners Union [ONION]
