Got Doom 3 pre-ordered, same with HL2. Both games seem very nice, I just hope I can run them on my computer without any difficulties... Getting new 3d-card. BF2 looks very nice I must admit. A must-buy imo. And it will be better than all other games for one reason, which Wrangler stated, it's made by Swedes. Go DICE!

System shock 2 wasnt a happy experience..  scared ****ta outta me thou it was a very good game.

Well, the doom series was never really meant to be a multiplayer fragfest, that's what carmack did the quake series for. And speaking of quake, since quake 4 is being developed externally by raven software, I don't have high hopes for it. But, you never know, raven is not a bad games studio.
I think IMO, All the hype in the media is going to let some people down when it comes to doom 3 though, It never fails, they pump it up so much and get your expectations up higher than you normally would, then when you sit down and actually play through some of it, your left going like "Is that it?".
The latest game I bought for my PC, Thief: Deadly Shadows, was kind of like that for me. I had my expectations up too high, partially because i love this franchise, but, its only as i played through it more and more that i got to appreciate it better.

Well, from what i've seen on some news sites that asked him about the next game they are working on, it's supposed to be a totally brand new property, with nothing to do with either doom or quake. Great news indeed, i wonder if it will still have a FPS/sci-fi type role though. I'd guess so, as they can do that the best.

I'll buy Doom 3 just because I played the other ones. I agree about the hype though. Propaganda makes everything suck.
When it's all said and done, it's just another attempt at a scary FPS. I haven't been scared from a videogame since leisure suit larry  . I doubt Doom 3 will be any different.
Until we get to the technological point of manipulating brain waves and having some REAL VR, I highly doubt there will be a game that's actually scary. To me anyway. It's a shame too, 'cause I live for being scared. It's the best emotion you can have.
