Lythane	Posted - 2009.01.01 00:08:00 - [1] After hearing about ambulation and figuring it seemed unlikely, and seemed to be planned for years, it occurred to me it might be a hoax. I asked about this in the help channel, and the answers were contradictory. So, is it a real, planned expansion, or a hoax that went completely out of hand?

Similar to tech 3, factional warfare foundations, a better tech 2 system (old lotto system wasnt all that great) and of course better graphics. CCP does have alot more work ahead of them and constantly have places to improve and expand, they have many more factions to add new ships for, they have plenty of unused classes of ships we may see in the future, they got more things planned and the next major thing on the list to be added is ambulation, and the super computer server farm. After that planetary interaction which may include colonization, and invasion and additional walking on planets ambulation. Pre Order your Sisters of Eve ship today

Even if they didnt do all the cool stuff with real arcitects for the rooms and a real designer for the clothes it's bound to take some amount of time and effort from programers and graphics dudes to put a playable, albeit very buggy, demo of the thing. Since you are here, can you (or one of the other devs) tell us if the WiS assets are going to be strictly limited to use while in station? By this, I mean is there any chance we get to see animated avatars outside of stations, that use the models and textures from WiS? I think it would be awesome if when I open a private 1 on 1 convo with another pilot that we each see the animated avatars from WiS, but they are seated inside our pods. Imagine being able to /emote raise_eyebrow and demand ransom from that hauler you caught with his pants down in lowsec! And of course for the truely evil, being able to /emote hearty_laugh after they pay the ransom and you start to fire on the ship anyway From someone that has started to learn how to make Eve videos, this would be invaluable for good storyline Eve movies.

It was not ccp's. They bought it from EA or licenced a version of its technology. Anyone from Earth and Beyond knows this just from watching the vid. I even remember a dev referencing Earth and Beyond in the demo or in a dev blog. Not that it is a bad thing, but if they took the technology from EnB they would still need years to modify it and redesign the artwork etc to fit the EVE theme.

You mean the demo that no one was allowed to film. You could have made them sign a NDA and threatened with account banning, if they ever revealed the truth. The part that was filmed could be all the ambulation that was ever made. That would explain all the bugs in it and why the new lighting system wasn't in it. Players don't join EVE because of a promise of ambulation. Hell, there is a sizable portion of current subscribers that don't even know anything about it. You would rather have more missions, space content and ships? Good, because t3, wormhole exploration, and epic mission arcs are coming in March, prior to ambulation. Having FPS combat wouldn't mean anything in dealing with station huggers and people refusing to fight or undock. Instead of staying docked they would not log in at all if you could kill them in a station.
