Greetings,
I think that there should be some method of renting a ship, most preferably from stations, as in another station service. Ships could be rented monthly, or on a pro-rated basis and include full insurance for the station. The only requirements of the player would be the isk, equipment, and the skills necessary for using the ship.
Ask for more info, I'll give it.

Edited by: Haratu on 23/07/2004 02:55:49 What happens if you loose the ship? Is there a penalty?
I can see it now... half the pilots in eve suddenly with -100,000,000 isk and trying desperately to get the money back in a rookie ship.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

No,
There would probably be a security deposit to cover such things... It really depends on how realistic CCP wants it to be.

It could work if you have to deposit the cash needed to replace the ship.. like: ship cost - insurance yield = deposit.. and a weekly fee for the hire of course.. Oddie KnifeEdge
What you call difficult, I call easy... What you call impossible, I call a challenge... |

I wouldnt mind a setup where you could "rent" a transport ship to take you to an area and then you unrent it. A bit like a cab. You pay for the numberof jumos you make in it.
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it... |

It is possible to do this in a way now with Shuttles. You pay about 10,000 isk for a shuttle at station "A". Fly shuttle to station "B", and put shuttle up for sale for max. duration of three months at 9,000 isk. The shuttle will usually sell within a few weeks. Result --> you have rented shuttle for 1,000 isk.

Yes,
I have to agree, there are ways to "rent" ships now, but what I am talking about is an actual station office that is devoted to Ship Rental.
Assuming that the current insurance system stays the same, that is where there is some gap between the actual cost of the ship and full market price of a new one, the Market Cost - Full Insurance Reimbursement = Deposit would be a great system. Plus the X isk a day/week/month/year rental fee.

Personnaly, I'd love to know how you pulled that off when an Arma has 7 turrets. Perhaps you mean an Apoc?
