Originally by: NemesisNL out of all tier 3 cruisers the thorax has the worst loadout. it has the least total amount of slots (13). it has the worst grid (700). only the rupture has worse cpu.
and now you take away offensive/defensive power (depending on playstyle) by cutting the drone bay in half. in return you get a 5% tracking bonus which i dont think is enough. you can hardly get a decent setup on without fitting powerdiags/rcu.
I totally agree with you, the thorax has only 3 med slots, that's very limiting when you consider the problems you run into trying to fit decent guns on the thing with little room for much if anything else.
I have considered why such a change was made and have only come to one conclusion, was the frigate pilots who started complaining about drones, some specifically about the thorax. The ship according to description was designed to be a close range terror, people have never considered how to properly fight a drone ship and just complain, this isn't a good reason to make this change. The thorax is at the mercy of ANY long range ships unless it runs. It's only when dumb pilots, frigate pilots or not make the mistake of getting close to it or any other drone carrier do you hear the complaints. And that frankily is just bad piloting.

Originally by: Arud cbrooker, if you want drones, fly a vexor or dominix
and comparing a drone space of 1500 that an apoc has to a thorax that has currently 2000, and the cargo hold of the apoc is little over 675 and the thorax has around 250 so does that warrant that overall the apoc and the thorax have about the same amount of total space?
and everyone stop *****ing about the loss of drone space for the thorax, heavy drones take 250m3 each and they will be used against battleships! or do you expect to use a thorax against a battleship in the future?
Why not people use frigates to do the same go figure

If it would be fine with one less gun then just use the Vexor! The Vexor now has the big drone bay and has one less gun than the Thorax, exactly what you asked for.
uhh, you forgot about the base stats, I don't think those are the same

As for using rails...your actually not even supposed to use rails, rails are for caldari.
Really, then why are rails under hybrids ? Doesn't the hybrid bonus count for both blasters and rails ? Let's not take a favorite config and make it standard not everyone uses blasters, and even if people did their's a risk in using them.
