If you could have any three changes made to EVE to make the game a better place, what three changes would you make?
My changes:- Add NPCs that destroy your newbship in the very first tutorial.
- Allow low security status pilots to visit any system they like, without navy repercussions, but also without Concord protection
- Reduce the ECM Optimal range bonus on the Caldari Recons to 10% per level of Caldari Cruiser.
Suggest and discuss yours here.

1. Force the change in EVE customer service policy that banning cannot be done without an accompanying email sent to the account holder explaining why.
2. Double the number of EVE GM's and more importantly, competent GM's, so petitions don't take weeks and weeks to get a first response and then only a stock cut and paste.
3. A FULL patch focus for one patch a year, on nothing but UI, Usability and playability improvements to the existing game "features", fixing long term bugs, an NOT adding more features, ships, fluff etc... -

1.) Add a more diverse and functional sovereignty system, including a POS overhaul 2.) Add a Combat Contract system for defining war victory conditions, mercenary contracts, killright trades and bounties. 3.) Add a intelligence network to replace local and reduce local channel to grid/station range.
Could add more but those three would go a long way.

1. bring back alpha
2. make pve more interesting, mining could use many improvements and npc'ing is just warp in and kill stuff, would like to have uses for specialty skills and FFS FIX MINING AGENTS
3. make ways to split up the blob, I don't mind blob warfare and tbh it's one of the great features of eve, but when it's ONLY way there is something wrong. 5 small blobs hitting 5 targets should be an useful option.
interesting thread btw

Even though this a stealth Falcon whine I rather agree with the first one. Newb ships are free and all CCP would have to do is have some sort of popup explaining that 'Eve is a cold dark harsh place and next time it could cost you real isk so keep you eyes open Newb' type of text.
1) Bring back low sec static plexs. Make them drop crap loot and salvage with only isk as the reward so we can have all the good times we used to have competing over them by ambushing carebears looking to score some easy isk or pirates looking to score on some easy carebears (both are tasty ) in low sec.
2) MOAR Exploraion. Yes I know that its about to get a buff but as I like to explore I know I'll run out of new sites to run so just getting it in now.
3) Give the rest of the faction ships in Eve the wonderful makeover that you did with the Sansha ships. I'd love to have a use for my Bhaalgorn past the pretty paint job and now useless bonus.

1) Remove learning skills. Give everyone capped learnings to begin with. Or make them run a mission or buy permanent learning upgrades.. anything other than a month of "fun tax" for new players. 2) Remove POS sovereignty, make it a dynamic influence system based on gates. Lose your border system influence? Lower refinery yields / higher build times, etc, on all your corp/alliance stations. Forces PVP away from centers of power (where one side can blob the other) to a more dynamic and constant fight. 3) Nerf CONCORD. |

1. Changing the structure of pirates so that pirate mining ships in belts will get minerals that are added to a big stockpile, and used to add more and better ships to the belt rats, meaning that you can leave systems alone for a long time and get cruisers in highsec, BS's in lowsec, or capships in 0.0.
2. Add some more variety to exploration, maybe some faction BPC spawns.
3. More varied mining things, ex: comets, dark matter, elements from stars, ext.

- stacking penalty for "cap recharge time" blah - probes working against cloakers - something like probing folks in plexes - extending scimitar/oneiros bonus to "benign EW modules" - nerfing tracking enhancers and/or adding falloff to t-comps/t-links only - revising every projectile ammo, like... (almost) same raw damage for all - further reducing signature for all minnies, especially caps - sov warfare moved to planets (not sure, maybe T3 production will screw that up though) - increasing bomb radius to 30km or (way) more - bomb velocity accordingly

1. Buff zydrine yields on lowsec to make it actually viable to mine there. 2. 1 extra high slot for a medium Turret and an extra low slot for all mining barges plus one single midslot on Freighters. 3. Agility bonus of 5% per level for Orca, Rorqual and Freighter.

1. Black space, white stars. No nebula. Or at least the option to switch the damn nebula off. I want to feel like I'm in SPACE, not inside a tinted fishbowl that hasn't been cleaned in a few years.
2. Ambulation NOW, even if it has to look like Pong until they get the interface right, I can tolerate crappy graphics I just want to walk in stations thanks. We WERE promised it "sometime in 2008"... the continued promise of Ambulation is the only thing that's kept my subscription going this long. Come on guys let's get it together.
3. Complete, permanent forum and game ban including account deletion and removal of ISK/items for anyone using the word "toon", in any context, ever. (Except for posts like this one pointing out how bad it is to use the word "toon" - that is the only acceptable context.)

1. First person view from inside the ship/3d ****pits. At the very least some kind of dashboard that "feels" like I am flying a ship instead of running spread sheet. 2.Improve exploring, including areas that are new and unique. Landing/exploring on planets/moons, cites and moon bases, caves/mines, underwater, etc. Maybe even vehicles for surface mining, exploring, and combat. 3. A transport ship that transports ships. I have 3 ships for exploring. Instead of me running back and forth all the time from a home base in system, I would like to launch from a base ship in the system I am currently exploring. It's not really exploring if you never leave within 10 jumps of a station.

Boost ewars aside from jammers to make thier threats just a pronounced and introduce new forms of warfare such as heat injectors, module jammers and resistance scramblers.
Expand capital ship roles to be more capital while removing thier effectiveness against smaller ships and objectives and that enmass use does not furhter chances of victory.
Introduce new tools for the stock mechanics and possibly upgrade to full stock market. But if not possibel tools first.

Well since we are dreaming..
1) Introducde shield and armor facings. Allow a ship to trun a good shield after one goes down, increases tactical options.
2) Bring in hardpoint facings. Make it where each hardpoint has a limited firing arc, this again forces tactical combat options and makes combat more intense.
3) Allow gradual damage during fight. Allow for weapon and module hardpoints to be damaged during the fight as well as the ability to move. Imagaine a fight where a ship loses a few weapons and maybe a repper.
The increased complexity in the combat system would take EVE to the next level!

1. Allow people with negative sec into high sec without the fear of navies, this could create a new profession of pirate hunting as they can be shot at by any player who chooses to do so.
2. Change jammers so that instead of completely breaking your lock, they instead shut down all of the attacking modules on your ship.
3. Reduce the number of npcs in a mission and make them far more tough, make pvp fits viable in missions and reduce the gap between pve and pvp.
4. Change the minmatar dread to have only large projectile weapon bonuses and turret slots rather than keep its current split weapon systems.
5. Reduce the brightness of backgrounds by quite a bit, should be a bit darker.

1. Local - show up only when you talk, dissapear again when you cloak
2. Total revamp of sov system to be completely unrelated to POS presence (a slower, larger-scale version of FW occupation mechanics)
3. Remove sov requirements from outpost placement (so you can place them as a corp not in an alliance, and also you could place them in lowsec), remove "one outpost per system" limitation (one at every planet if you like), allow donating outposts to NPC entities (those player-built outposts donated to NPCs should be reconquerable by player corps, but it should take a significant number of days regardless of attacking force size to do it, and it should be easily interruptible).

On capital ships you can target their "hardpoints" i.e. you can specifically shoot their engines, their weapons systems, their reppers etc... 5. #3 is an awesome idea
one idea ive always had was to be able to contract agents
1.) in low sec or below ONLY 2.) CORPS can hire only 2 agents; ALLIANCES can hire up to 4 agents total 3.) you can hire "L4" agents and "L5" agents 3b.) "L4" agents cost CORPS: 50million isk per week and ALLIANCES: 85million isk per week 3c.) only alliances can hire "L5" agents, they cost 200million per week
the costs would give advantages to people in bigger corps, thus increasing large corp activity, your own personalized agent
now, since all agents can only be in 0.4 space or lower, there is a catch however, you must first buy a "Habitation Module" for the Agent to "live" in, they must be anchored around a POS only, and must be OUTSIDE of POS shields (to make them more easily destroyed)
L5 agents must also be put into "Habitation Modules" and anchored, and must be anchored at an Outpost, so again, they can be destroyed
would encourage alot more people to go to low sec, especially those lifelong high sec dwellers, i mean, your own personalized agent?
would increase population of low sec, and at the same give the pirates more targets to pew pew at
oh, and PS, the agents would only give missions to other low sec systems, kind of like how they made it so missions are no longer given out in jita, they could program this in the same way

yes, i also had an idea on mines a while ago to
1.) instead of mines being in the cargohold, or being modular, make mines take up drone bay space 2.) mines take up the same space as a heavy drone (25m3) 3.) you can deploy mines, they would be like mini bombs, w/ an explosion radius of 7.5km(sounds reasonable), and an activation proximity of 2500meters 4.) each does 2000 damage (and ofc, different mines for different damage types) 5.)there is a time delay between each mine deployed of 2 minutes (have to wait for 2 minutes before another mine can be deployed) 6.) mines stay active as long as you are within 1AU of the "minefield", and should you leave that 1Au radius, the mines go into a similar state as "abandoned" drones, when you leave that radius, the mines become "abandoned", but these ones dissapear after 5 minutse instead of the normal 2 hour period of wrekcs in space
this would prevent people from getting in small inexpensive drone boats and deploying a huge minefield that is anti everything, it would have to be done w/ more expensive ships (Myrms, Domi's Ishtars, ect.)
also, while the minefield is deployed, they continute to take up drone bandwith, so you cant deploy a minefield, then have someone deploy you some drones and you take in and still have a fully functional ship, lol there has to be a limit

1) Put enough rewards (or, better, goals affecting the game universe) into Faction Warfare to fix it and attract people back to it.
2) Personal structures, designed (several ways to do this) so they can't be easily destroyed, but the use of which can be easily interdicted during wartime. (The idea is that you can't kill 'em without a lot of effort, but your war targets won't be able to use/enjoy them while the war's on.)
3) Put in a working bounty/contract-revenge/tradeable-killrights system. This has been broken forever, and it offers *huge* potential for enriching and improving the game. I can't understand why it's been ignored at low priority for so many years. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

This makes eve casual friendly where other games are not, you still train skills while not playing. Other games take a shiet load of game play to compete and in eve two new pilots can kill a vet where other games the vet one hits for the win.

1) Remove Local
2) Remove Jump Bridges
3) Remove Warp To Zero
The first one was a necessary evil in the initial days of the game, but is completely broken now that there are an average of 30,000 players nightly.
Warp To Zero was a very poorly thought out way to remove instas from the game. I mean how damn hard would it have been to make it impossible to have instas on the same grid as a station or gate? I mean if they can limit where you can use an MWD, or where certain classes of ships can warp to, then this must be simple to implement.
As far as Jump Bridges go; if I could meet the dev who first proposed this during the weekly developer meeting (or whatever they do), then I would tell him to his face that he single handedly ruined 0.0. The fact that the other devs all nodded in agreement just blows me away. It takes real men of genius to make EVE smaller and smaller as the active player base keeps getting larger and larger.

Because coupled with the other thingy you said it almost sounded to me like you wanted them to be logged out? Maybe I am just stupid.... Edit:Spelling strikes again. ~ The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on. |

This is what I would like to see:
1. Conquerable planets, instead of POS spamming for 0.0 Soverignty. Social and Corporation Management skills would have an effect on local planetary governments and morale. Low-sec planets wouldn't be conquerable, but players could effect influence to improve resource management.
2. Better Bounty Hunting system: Bounty Hunters would be able to take a limited contract against a bounty that would allow for non-intervention from Concord (though not from the local navies). Successes and failures would influence future available contracts. Local racial factions would give faction specific bounties and at earlier levels, NPC bounties.
3. Player customized ships, such as painted ships and corporate logos.
I only do diplomancy because I haven't found you.. yet. |

1) Increase Burst base cargo bay size by 5m3 2) Increase Burst base top speed by 40m/s 3) Remove one mid slot from the Burst and give it one low slot
Then roam the universe in my awesome ship. Trust me, these changes would make EVE much better. for me.

1) Remove Sov completely.
2) Add more NPC stations in 0.0, one or two in each region spread all over EVE.
3) Employ some customer relations dudes so CCP stop doing mistakes in communication; - like the ghost training presentation (give info earlier, don't do the stupid "it was a bug, not a feature" explanation, etc), - like not firing t20 (after all he failed at his job, and not firing him makes CCP look like they accept his behaviour, wtf is up with that), etc. The game is good, the devs are generally liked, but the way the offical communication goes out is horrible. - like starting to read what people actually type; filing petitions about complaints against forum mods/GM's and replying with (not even a blanket statement, that'd been more understandable even tho it's horrible to read) a reply that clearly shows they didn't even read what you typed is **** poor customer treatment.
It's pretty clear to me where CCP's big weakness is. Both in the office and in space, imho. Apart from that, this is an awsome game, the best on the market currently.

1. Remove SP completely from the game. Everyone has level 5 skills, and combat is determined by real skill and not who has been subscribed the longest. This will also remove a lot of whines about nerfs since people can switch to a different weapon system if they so desire.
2. Be able to tell an agent "I won't mission against any of the main empire factions". To avoid getting two empire hit missions in a row, and not being able to play for 4 hours if you are not in a mission hub.
3. Be able to covertly join factional warfare... Your ship has a beacon saying who's side you are on, but you are able to hide your identity from them. That way, I am not barred from friends high sec POS's in enemy space after I quit Factional warfare. Nor am I forever removing access to half of high sec.

Edited by: Gunzoid on 05/01/2009 01:32:18 1) When shields are taking damage, show some kind of visual of shields blocking the attack 2) A quicker way to clear way point destination. 3) Skill Queue (since one is unable to train while inactive, this shouldn't be an issue imho.) 4) Corp and/or alliance logo's on ships.

Hmm...
1) Fix the binary nature of high/lowsec. Make 0.5 and 0.6 more dangerous, make 0.3 and 0.4 safer.
2) Disable CONCORD in highsec plexes (they're deadspaces controlled by NPC pirates, FFS). Add size-restricted gates on the ones that don't already have them. Bump up the rewards a few notches.
3) Make sov. in FW actually mean something.
... bonus Falcon whine!
4) Make ECCM grant a flat ECM resistance bonus (40% for T1, 50% for T2) with no stacking penalties. Make ECCM useful for something other than countering ECM as well (such as perhaps increasing the sig. resolution of guns)
