I'd go with the Scorp but only because it's the option that doesn't require me parting with 50 million ISK. Scorpions can bring down Ravens too.

Keep The Raven. While the scorpion is a good support battleship you need to focus on EW to much to fight other battleships effectivly. the Raven just blasts everything to hell and back :)

Sure...most any ship can bring down most any other in the right circumstances.
A Scorp is a dangerous foe...no question. Not to be taken lightly but a Raven is probably the best Scorpion killer there is. It tends to be less affected by EW trickery and if it is a straight-up slugfest a Raven will out damage a Scorp.
That is all broadly speaking of course. There is a reason you see plenty of both Ravens and Scorps about in fleets. Hard to go wrong either way...dpends more on your style I suppose than anything else.

Simple answer really...
Raven is a damage dealer Scorp is a ecm specialisit.
Raven is weak if you do not have support ships Scorp is weak if you are unable to jam your target so they can't fire at you

Raven is weak w/o support?!
Raven is pretty much the strongest all rounder. It can still kill while jammed (fof + drones) better then any other ship.
And while not being jammed? Amongst the elite in ability to dish out damage and still defend itself solidly.
If I was doing a lot of 1v1, I'd probably still opt for the Scorp since there are very few opponents that could escape certain death. Biggest problem is lack of punch, but that's fine because of the power of EW.

Edited by: kanix357 on 23/07/2004 22:32:51 I have this setup on my raven
High = 6 cruise launchers, 2 425 guns,
Medium = 2 hardners, 1 xl boost, 1 shield amp,AND TWO eucetric cap rechargers
low = 4 power diag II's, 1 ballistic cruise control, and a couple more cap thingies.(Sometimes on low ill stick like 2 more ballistic cruise control systems) and your missles will shoot way faster and always do awesome damage, but this is only if i have another battleship with me) cause i cant tank well like this.
I did one time put 5 ballistic cruise control system on my ship, and ill tell you what, that was like being on steroids. The missles just did uber damage, but for npc hunting its not good, but if you went on a fleet battle, i suggest tryign something like this, and being a bad ass missle boat.
This setup has about 230 cap recharge rate, and the damage is wicked, I jus tneed to get the FOF skill, and start to caryy those missles around. But lately i just npc hunt to bring down my sec status back to zero.
The megathron is just one hard ship to equip correctly, i feel as though if i use 2 co processors, im wasting space, and i just end up using it for mining with armor tanking.
So far raven is the best battleship out of all the ones out there, mayve a arma is better i dont know, i havent flown it yet.

When I was flying Scorp , I really hated it. Now I fly Raven and want my Scorp back But I know as soon as I get it , I would want to jump into Raven again
Go figure
Arguing with EVE customer support is like chatting up stewardess on the plane - you know you're not gonna get any , but it's still hella fun trying |

I love my Raven, until I open "fitting".
I have electronics 5, engineering 5, weapon upgrades 5 and still it's hard to really fit a Raven well. You can do a lot with the ship though, armor tanking for example opens a whole new dimension (ECM Raven anyone? )
Scorp is a very good, versatile ship and a lot easier to fit. It's a lot easier to learn PvP in a scorp than it is to learn in a Raven. ------------------------------------------ I am a love machine, feeding my fantasy, give me a kiss or three, have fun!

Edited by: Dash Ripcock on 24/07/2004 16:28:57 The Scorpion is a fantastic ship if you're new to fighting in battleships - those 8 med-slots give you a myriad of options, and allow you to fulfil countless roles in small skirmishes or fleet engagements. It's only real drawback is its lack of firepower, but then that doesn't matter much if the enemy is jammed or losing cap fast. Also, correctly fitted it can drop a Raven, although note 'correctly fitted'.
The Raven is more of a specialist ship, and requires heavy fitting skills to be kitted out properly (I have Electronics, Engineering and Weapon Upgrades all at 5, although the latter isn't that essential anymore with the CPU-changes, but I'd train it anyway to squeeze every drop of CPU out of your bird. Energy Grid 5 is also a good one, since you'll be using PDUs a lot). The Raven hits very, very hard, especially if kitted with Ballistic Controls in the low slots. It can also shield/armour-tank like a beast, although the latter limits your offensive set-up some-what, and as a result is well suited to ECM.
Another advantage is it's ability to achieve near maximum offensive capability even when jammed through the use of FOFs. Only real problem with the Raven is, at range, its dependence on missiles makes it somewhat vulnerable, since they take so long to arrive and the target can just run.
Personally, if you have low skillpoints and/or little experience in a battleship as far as combat is concerned, I'd go for the Scorpion - it's versatile, forgiving and a lot cheaper to replace if you got shot down. When you're feeling confident, then you could consider the transition to the Raven

What the Hell, they are both good ships. I'd pilot either one of them. They both however, take a lot of skills to run properly...
Your 650mm Artillery Cannon I perfectly strikes Serpentis Guard, wrecking for 340.0 damage |
