Ladies and gentlemen, today I stand above you on these forums with something of a story to tell.
You see, I had originally planned to let this day go by with little fanfare beyond a quick braggarts line in The Empire on Coldfront. However a number of weeks ago, as this day approached, I was convinced to make something of a spectacle of it. After all, he said, you'll never see another new digit again. I found myself in agreement, so here I am.
On this day, NTRabbit reached the milestone of 100 million skill points. ôWho?ö some of you might ask, because quite plainly people who do not post away their lives on the forums simply do not exist as ingame entities. With my 914 posts in 2016 days I barely register as a whisper to these people. But then, being known and understood by the unwashed masses has never been a great aspiration of mine. Instead, I have preferred to maintain a level of import that outstripped the amount of fame accorded, as opposed to many of my compatriots and contemporaries. Were it not for the EVE TV tournament broadcasts and my recent û and first û trip to Fanfest, knowledge of me would be practically nil.
Today, however, is a different day. Today I have elected to share with you a brief summary of my time in EVE Online, from beta 2 until now, the history of the outside man.
I began playing EVE in late 2002, at the opening of beta phase 2. My own application had not been accepted; instead, I used one of the four accepted accounts that my CEO had in his possession. We had come over to EVE from a web based game known as Planetarion. We were Xanadu, we were proud, and I was in charge of the military. For weeks I cruised around the Medusa Constellation in a shiny bantam, using an alt in order to spy on my own troops, and generally cause mayhem. I still wonder if I caused that poor pilot to quit, not realizing at the time that a rather nasty bug meant that any pod killed characters were corrupted. Thus forcing the player to make a new one from scratch. There is little to say about the beta, really. Most of the forum garbage was of little consequence to me. In beta phase 3, the best of the phases, I met such luminaries as HellGremlin û the colourful CEO of Endless û and Deathwing, the battleship pilot who could not dock because the lack of a battleship skill meant he would not be able to undock again. Phase 4 never existed, never happened. The remaining phases only served to increase internal tensions in Xanadu, as I, a rather angry young man, butted heads with a director I had little regard for.
By the time the game went live, and I received my box via Fedex from a director living in California. It was never released here in Australia û I was essentially on the outer. In the first week of live, I flew my pulse laser armed Ibis all the way down to Aridia (quite a journey in those days). Discorporation and I made an ill-fated attempt to find the Double Hydra Implants û a fictional implant which allowed 2 skills to be trained simultaneously. Instead, I found myself fighting random people in the middle of nowhere, saving bounty money for upgrades. I finally lost my lightweight Ibis to the very first NPC Cruiser gate groups the day they were added. However,I got it straight back again, in the one and only rollback to ever happen in EVE, as CCP quickly realised those cruisers were just a little too powerful.
I still have that Ibis, in Penirgman. The replacement Punisher however, my first ship upgrade, was annihilated by CONCORD in an unfortunate smartbombing incident.
I was forced by my corporation to mine for my first cruiser, a Moa, and I have never mined since. I find the activity to be distasteful at best, and uninteresting at worst. I managed to skip past the Mara and Passari blockades of m0o on more than one occasion, saw the great chase of Lord Zap, two dozen vessels trying to chase down the first Dominix in game. ------

Edited by: NTRabbit on 05/01/2009 19:51:57 I once used my 'neutrality' to smuggle an SPVD blackbird past an Evolution blockade on one side of a gate, only to almost be destroyed by the SPVD blockade on the other, finding out as I traded the ship back to its owner û my friend û that I had just flown through a pair of blockades manned by the best combat pilots in game with a clone 2 million skill points out of date. I never made that mistake again. Even going so far as to remain docked for almost 2 months during the ridiculous period many years later when CCP took their time adding bigger clones for the hundreds of players who had exceeded the limit.
Instead of mining, and against the express wishes of Xanadu, I elected to do agent missions, long before any serious rewards existed. Suddenly, 3 months later, the very first implants were added to the game, and what a surprise, they were agent rewards. I quickly earned myself a full set, then went about making a small fortune selling the others. My corp went from threatening to fire me for wasting time, to demanding their share of my profits. After refusing to turn over money they had demanded I never earn in the first place û and purchasing my first battleship, a Raven û Xanadu elected to dismiss me for insubordination, and failing to pay a ridiculous corporate tax that was dropped by the directors only two weeks later. Although I had been a part of the earliest portions of Fountain Alliance, I departed before the actual founding. An astute move really, since FA became the first of many *****es to Evolution.
After a few months alone, at the suggestion of Discorporation I moved to a new corp û Jericho Fraction. It was, shall we say, entertaining at times. When away from the forums and ôpost-humanismö Jade was, at the very least, an interesting person to talk to, as was Miso. I had some good times there, engaged in all sorts of wars, including epic battles against Mercenary Frigates in the first interceptors. Ultimately I could not stand some of the shadier elements of Jericho û waking up in the early morning to change a skill, and logging in to find a male and a ôfemaleö corp member, alone of the corp online, engaged in cybersex in the corp channel was the finishing touch. I quit the corp before the end of the week.
Thus began my self-imposed exile from the community. For almost two years I played alone, in a series of humorously named one man corps, often talking to my drones and insinuating to the outside world they all sat on the board. I cared little for the ôgreat alliancesö and their ridiculous wars. Venal, Stain, Curse, Fountain, all came and went, with little to show for it other than doctored kill boards. No method for genuine conquest existed, therefore I did not care to participate in that which could not be recorded.
After these years of solitude and missions, where my greatest interactions came in IRC with players from all corners of the galaxy, forming many contacts and learning many things, I was approached by a mercenary. Istvaan Shogaatsu offered me a position; I took it.
The Guiding Hand Social Club provided me with opportunities for destruction on a grand scale. I participated in many... ventures. Theft, murder, more simple mercenary work, but always with a grand objective and an even grander tale at the end. Sometimes it even got to the point where my presence in a system would scare entire gangs, even the erroneously vaunted MC, into docking, just in case I was ôpulling some more bsö.
Eventually Tyrrax Thorrk realised the utility of my skillset in the tournament; since then, I have participated in all, with mixed results. I was in the Curse when the Imperial Apocalypse was destroyed û a disappointing result, but quite epic to watch in person. ------

Edited by: NTRabbit on 05/01/2009 19:54:51 To this day, I remain in the Guiding Hand Social Club, in the role of operations, and Tactical Brewmaster. I will also, once again, be an Alliance Tournament participant, though no longer for IAC. Something to do with a Wyvern I was flying for a few weeks.
Now though, I have ascended to a higher plane. I am close to, if not the, premier combat character in the game.
Whilst I do have more wisdom and history to share, I am electing not to share it with you. Much of it is still secret, or a trick of the trade that I would rather you learned from me the hard way.
I made this post, a rare post, to celebrate myself reaching this achievement, and to use what benevolence I have to share some of my greatness, history and wisdoms with you. I am sure that many of you have enjoyed it. To conclude - don't hate me now, I have always been better than you. Now I just have the ninth digit to signify it.

Just a question:
Is that also a character, that has higher average attributes then standard? (this is without implants and any learning skill?)
I do know they existed long ago, but the person, that had such a character left game and I forgot his name.

There's a difference between 'premiere combat character' and 'premiere pvp pilot'. One was said, the other was not. You're essentially putting words in his mouth when you imply the latter, when there was no discussion of pvp prowess. Don't get all grumpy and bitter now.

For the life of me I can't figure out what it is that your character can do well. You're average at best, with some unnecessary variety.
He's good at stealing ships. ;-)
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

You might want to browse a little of that site you linked to, you'll find more than a few characters with better combat training that yours.
With hubris like that you must work for Cricket Australia :P
You'd probably do better ignoring the SP and talking about the things you've *done* instead.

He doesn't just sit in a station, he's one of GH-SC's more active operatives in fact and he's participated in multiple infiltrations, heists, hijackings, assassinations, wars and alliance tournaments. He is in point of fact our team captain for the upcoming tournament.

Originally by: Avernus Btw, to give an idea of just how much implants can change a person's total SP over time, not to mention paying attention to when the hell you should switch skills, and training skills according to your attributes...
I started at launch, I have 65m sp. Kinda gives you a moment of pause doesn't it?
Started at similar time now at 90mil sp, how I wish I spent more on implants over the years instead of saying oh well a few non updated clone losses never hurt.... Wonder how many people playing are now above 90mil sp?
Congratulations to NTRabbit, never crossed paths afaik and here's hoping I don't.

It is not every day that someone makes it to 100mil SP though is it? If he did not make a post though it probably would have gone unnoticed by the masses.

But wait! You don't have Targetting 5, and Multitasking 1 - which means you don't have the Core Targetting certificate to Standard. Which means you don't have Core Competency standard certificate. For shame!
Congratulations are in order, despite this shocking lapse.
