Since no-one has mentioned these things here...
March 10th is named as when the expansion arrives. Whether that means the patch will be deployed on that exact date has not been said. Assuming that March 10th is used for deployment, it's safe to say that Apocrypha won't go live until March 11th. Why is this relevant?
Because retail copies are out on March 12th, not March 10th.
That gives CCP about 24 hours (possibly as many as 48) to find the critical post-deployment bugs and have them fixed before the purchasers of retail copies log in to try the game...assuming nothing else goes wrong.
(On a small sidenote, it would be great from a PR point of view if the retail package contained a small note somewhere informing the purchaser when exactly Downtime occurs. People totally new to the game will be completely unaware of this fact and may not react kindly to their first play experience being ruined by DT, even though it's (normally) just 1 hour.)
Which reminds me...an older player can propably answer this question for me: Has CCP ever announced an expansion 4 months in advance and given an exact date? Could be important in regards to the discussion here. |

When was the last time CCP missed a ship date by more than a few hours? It's been a while. I think they have some idea what they are doing.
Far more interesting: If you rearrange the letters in 'Bellum Eternus', you can spell 'Men Rue Bullets'. Which is nice.
You can also spell 'Rebel Mule Nuts'. I think I'll call my next ship that. |

boo.. i would much prefer to get to play with the new T3 stuff with crappy/incorrect/filler models. hell, even no textures.. as long as they still work properly i dont care how they look for testing. |

Originally by: Xailia I imagine they already have the shelf commitment for the boxed version though, so something will come out March 10.
Why is the assumption that this mechanic hasn't been in development until after fanfest 2008 showed it? This game mechanic has LIKELY been in development since spring of LAST QUARTER, if not when trinity began development. A month of beta play for a change like this is probably more for bugs than balance.
Will the T3 ships be pwnmoblies? maybe. They'll certainly cost something on the order of 500 mil to buy one AT LEAST (100mil for each part.) and they won't even be in the game until mid month April at the best given invention times, the times it will take to acquire new resources, and the time you have to assemble all the parts. At best your looking to see them in general circulation some time before ambulation. By then there will likely be a patch out to balance the things.
I really don't feel like CCP is rushingit. |

Believe it when you see it, and not before. Until then the cake is a lie, and so is M10.
For now. =)

March 10th is a Tuesday, CCP has already stated that almost all expansions and patches are released on a Tuesday.

im not sure wat I have to say about this.
1. Ok it was pushed forward a bit... march is unusual. but they kind of didnt do anything in QR.
14 features in QR 2 werent anything 6 are useless; yet so far. 4 were fixes; not features. 2 were actually good.
Kind of the definition of a booster pack.
2. I was reading dev posts... and a dev(not anyone particularly bignamed) said that we could expect tech 3 in mid to late january. That's reasonable i think. Given still that it is pushed forward; with "holidays" being over.
but damn... mid to late february... possibly even march? Whole thing could be completely broken... scratch that... it's going to be completely broken. ------------------------ To make a megathron from scratch, you must first invent the eve universe. ------------------------ Life sucks and then you get podded. |

I have never considered EvEs expansions as true expansions only either booster or big patches. They are usually adding a couple things, balancing issues, and a buttload of bug fixes. Though iam not complaining there free so eh.
