BIG will once again host betting for the Alliance tournament.
This time the 6th Alliance Championships (AT&)
The AT6 website is now live, and you can start making your bets!!!
So - What excactly do we offer?
We offer the standard "bet on the team you think will win overall", but also a range of other bet types
We even offer "late entry" bets, which is bets made *after* the tournament has started!
- Who will be the top 32 ranked after round 1 (early entry).
- Who will be the top 32 ranked after round 2 (early entry).
- Who will make it to the semifinals (early entry).
- Who will make it to the semifinals (late entry).
- Who will win the tournament (early entry).
- Who will win the tournament (late entry).
Bets have to be made before round 1 starts (2009.01.24 15:00)
Bets have to be made before round 2 starts (2009.02.07 15:00)
On the site you'll among other things find the "Bet Calculator", making it a bit easier to determine excactly what to put in the infobox when you transfer your ISK to "BIG Games".
Make sure to use it, if at all in doubt about what to enter in the infobox.
Updating of bets is done automatically via the EVE API, so the text entered needs to be spot on for the program to recognize it.
Any mistake and your bet will be treated as a BIG Lottery entry!
(and any amounts above the max for the BIG Lottery will be treated as a donation - Thank you very much!)
On the site you will also be able to see the bets already made!
Apart from the betting we naturally also supply the full schedule for the tournament (Currently the times are a guess, as the official list hasnt been psoted yet)
Lots of info there - And all in one place!

I may have misread this - but as you are not offering a proper "book" in that there are no odds on offer, there is no point me betting high amounts of isk
Say for example I bet 20 billion on being in the top 32 at the end of round one. Three other people bet on several other alliances to the tune of 10 million isk each.
At the end, when my alliance is in the top 32 and theirs is not - I win.... 30 million isk? Exaclty the same as I would have won if i had bet 1 million isk instead of 20 billion.
I must have read this incorrectly please clarify. |

You're assuming you're the only one getting it right.
The ISK of the "losers" are distributed among the "winners" based on how much ISK they (the winners) have bet.
So a winner betting twice as much as another winner, gets twice as much from the pool of "loser" ISK.

Of note

This would suggest the gamer would have to pick all 32 top ranked.
A slight change to something on the lines of "Who will be ranked in the top 32 after round 1 (early entry)." would clarify the bet.
Good luck with your venture, I wish you could have run a proper book as (although this would have taken more work) people would be much more comfortable betting for a know odds, then betting with the possibility of no return at all
i.(player risks money betting on a team that nobody disputes and therefore recieves no isk return)
or worse
ii.(player A bets 500million on a team which loses, only one player B had bet a paltry 1 million isk on the actual winning team and scoops the lot).
So player stood to win a share of only 1 mill and risked 500 million.
Even if one wins one is involved in a battle with the other winners over what percentage of the losers pot he gets.

Quick Question, If we place a bet on team #19 and they pull out and get replaced by another team, does our bet stay on whoever takes their place or is it lost?

Any way to get confirmation my bets went in? I placed them yesterday prior to the deadline, with the correct comments in the reason field, yet nothing is showing up on "My Bets" and the totals haven't budged since the day before yesterday, which seems very unlikely.

Sorry about the delayed response - But Mr. Flu and his rather large family (10 trilion or so) came by for a visit (bad timing... Aint it always?)
As you can imagine it has taken all my time to cater to their wishes during their stay - and it's taken me a 'lil week to get rid of them on their way again.

As a fellow punter, it's not really fair at this point for your ISK to be withdrawn, as others may have based their bets on it.
However, since the failure is BIG's in not sorting out the issue as soon as the team switch was announced, my suggestion would be for BIG to offer to forgo their admin fees on any winnings your "replaced" bet might generate for you.

nearly all my bets are beeing displayed now
but one is missing:
24.1. at 10:06
and i checked the syntax i used, but i cant find any difference in it to the syntax used in the valid bets
all bets after that time are displayed correctly, so only my first bet is missing

I've checked - The syntax for you're very first bet is in fact wrong.
"&" instead of "6".

It just so happens that you and Ar0a have made the excact same bet.
So if it shows for Ar0a it really ought to show for you as well.

As per the rules, your entries have been entered into the BIG Lottery as a consequence.

Hi, I've made a bet on 2009.01.25 at 16:43 on AT6-239 for 50 million. Apperently it didn't go in because I haven't noticed this part : "Bets have to be made before round 1 starts (2009.01.24 15:00)", or it wasn't there at the time, can't remember but I have my doubts, I am sure I'll be clarified on that. However since the first match of the team I wanted to bet on was starting at 19:20 I draw the conclusion that it should still be ok to bet since obviously I couldn't have known the outcome of the match. So I guess its only fair, that you should take my bet into consideration as its done anywhere else in this world at any agencies. Thanks in advance.

Conceivably, you only bet on your team after you saw that the only team that could defeat them wasn't going to make it to the top 32. It's almost certainly not the case, but there's no reason to start bending rules, given that it's your fault for not reading the instructions.
Of course, as always, the only decision that matters is TornSoul's.

Ok, i made a bet of 50mil for Cry Havoc would make it to the semi's, it was a late entry bet, though i made the bet couple weeks ago, it showed up on my bets page, but i went to check the page today, and now it saids i've made no bets, and Cry Havoc did make it into the semi's and i've recieved no isk.

Semi's = the last two rounds. We've not even reached the quarter finals yet.
Also, TornSoul has said that all the bets will be paid after the tounry is over including the ones for the people through to the final 32.

erm....I've just made a couple of bets and then noticed that the deadline is past 
Reason was that I saw the title for this thread saying [BIG BETTING] Alliance Tournament 6: BIG Betting site is live. (and also it's early..*yawn*

so whats the deal with those odds on the site? those are not the odds we'll get payed out on right? (the stuff about "actual odds will be closer to 1")
If i got that part right, when will the final odds be posted on which we'll get payed out on? And when will the payouts start? Im in no hurry but would like to hear a general timeframe, got a war to pump money in -_- |

Payouts will happen during the next week - Prob around wednesday/thursday.
But... Could be as late as the weekend (depending on RL) - But I don't expect it'll be that late.
I've got quite a few hours of spreadsheet work ahead of me....
And then ditto doing payouts...
Those are a real pain getting done... Manually... I'm guessing there'll be a couple of hundreds seeing as some favorites made it far.
As for the odd's, you can actually calculate those yourself now, as all winners are now known.
I haven't done the math myself yet (see above comment about spreadsheet work)

Where does it say that if I make a late bet it will go to the BIG lottery? Also, where does it say that the most that is valid for the BIG lottery is 10m???? Not much consolation when I bet 350m!!!

Your Alliance tournament betting website was still issuing bet codes......
MAYBE when the betting was closed you should have changed your thread to indicate this and change the website!!!
Now I accept that I may have missed where it did say betting was closed, but you could have done much more to make it clear.
I would appreciate it if you could get in touch so we can reach an amicable resolution.

Ok, did this and still not showing; nor did anything show for the lottery (although I do understand the lottery has 'rolled over' now).
