Edited by: Davelantor on 12/01/2009 10:13:55 how about a Mining ship which is bigger than hulk, lets say 4 turrets and larger drone bay, but has the shield and armor of a frigate :)
it would make mining lot more rewarding at a expense of lot more risky |

sorry if I seem to follow you in your posts and reply only negative comments, but I just try to speak out my opinion... I posted positive comments already.. believe me :P
ok... here my comment.
"suicide gank anyone?"
if it costs more than a hulk it would definitively be target of perma suicide ganking.

Edited by: David Grogan on 12/01/2009 12:26:24 Edited by: David Grogan on 12/01/2009 12:25:19 why not readjust the existing barge setups
currently a covetor takes 2-3 days less training time than a hulk making it a pointless ship
how about reducing the training time from mining barge 5 to 4 for the covetor and increasing the hulk to exumer 5 (reduce skill rank by 1) but add an extra high power slot (4 strips) and increase its cargo hold to 10000m3 also add 1 extra strip to the makinoff and 1 extra to the skiff |

I can't see the good side of this.
A ship than can mine more. Then to be 20,000 ships that can mine more. Then to be 16,000 ships that can mine more in empire. The market would overload, prices would drop and we'd all suffer. We're just getting back on the donkey after the Drone Regions Incident.
Group for more ore. Don't encourage deflation of prices. |

Just getting back on the donkey after the Drone Regions incident. Interesting. Rising Tritanium prices isn't good for ore miners, just like it isn't good for anyone else, since rising prices on minerals means paying more for everything else. Of course, most stable high-sec miners already have all they need in regards to Orca/Hulks/Haulers, so are affected little. At least till a new grand ship comes out :-D

Rising prices don't relly hurt the high-sec miner all that much, even a starting out one. If you figure that the characters primary income in mining, then it makes sense that it would take exactly the same amount of time to get a particular item as it did before. As mineral prices go up, the income per hour goes up, and the item costs go up at the same rate. The Miner is the only one that is unaffected by this phenomenon. His Effort required to attain a specific item remains unchanged.

If there is going to be a new bigger mining ship it need's to be a True Capital ship, that requires it's jump engines to get around, so that it can't mine in high sec. Personally if it's going to be built limit it's ability to mine to the none zydrine/megacyte ores so that it doesn't simply replace the hulk but fills a new role as the mega base ore miner.
