My favourite Alliance? Oh that's easy!
My Favourite alliance would obviously have to be TGA.
The Godly Alliance, headed by J3SUS Corp, is an alliance of 1 person and two alts, that will scoure Eve obliterating Asshat miners that are charging Ungodly prices for minerals.
We ( I ) Also Declare war on all Empire space.

PRIMERS RANKINGS SYSTEM
Entirely my views on alliances/groups I've run into. My scales has poor[1], average[2], good[3], great[4]. I wrote this on the fly, so when you flame, remember that. Just adding to the discussion cos I know you people love to read this crap (as do I)
CFS
Stengths: Strong ideals of a free open space which they are most well known for. Lets face it, there are very few alliance following this noble policy.
Weakness: I don't think they actually control their own station (am I wrong?) and it seems to me that all revenue in the future will be controlled by there FA neighbors. Thus, the major weakness is that they are sometimes seen as a proxy of the Fountain Alliance.
MILITARY: poor-average (1.5) ECONOMICS: poor-average (1.5) DIPLOMACY: average (2)
Curse Alliance (C4 included)
Strengths: Very large group with a good core of PVP veteran making a very formidable military force. I think a large proportion of the strength of CA is in their almost primal war driven existence.
Weakness: Firstly, there aggressive nature sees them isolated politically. This is devastating in the long term. Furthermore, it seems that there is a clear division inside CA between PVPers and more moderate industrial corps. This causes internal problems when the second group starts to feel a war.
MILITARY: good [3] ECONOMICS: average [2] DIPLOMACY: poor [1]
Stain Alliance
STRENGTHS: Veteran PVPers fairly decent in diplomacy. A good round mix with no apparant significant weaknesses and only improving in time.
WEAKNESS: Nothing signficant. SA on its own, pound for pound has every bit the military power of CA. However they are smaller and thus isolated they have had their problems.
MILITARY: good [3] ECONOMICS: average [2] DIPLOMACY: average-good [2.5]
Moovolution (+atuk)
STRENGTHS: Per member, probably the most potent strike force in the galaxy. This groups is has extensive PVP experience with minimal supportive elements (most are PVPers).
WEAKNESS: Politically, they follow their own politics (with the exception of some favoured alliances although even could fraction this fragile union). They are classified as pirates by many corps although laterly, they seemed to be fighting a very alliance like conflict right now.
MILITARY: great [4] ECONOMICS: poor [1] DIPLOMACY: poor [1]
Fountain Alliance
STRENGTHS: Another long standing alliance with a good sense of economics to boot. BIG, XANADU are all powerhouse industrial corps and being found relativity isolated in the south western corner of EVE, FA enjoys good periods of peace and quiet. Military wise, above average.
WEAKNESS: Its hard to pick fault with this alliance. I do sense a degree of arrogance in some political actions however I can't claim they have a flaw foreign policy since FA finds itself in a very good position in the west with respect to CFS. I also sense a feeling of xenophobia (pronounced xanadu-phobia) within FA from the interal purges that had taken place there in the past. However, overall, not much to pick through.
MILITARY: average-good [2.5] ECONOMICS: good-great(?) [3.5] DIPLOMACY: average [2]
XETIC
STRENGTHS: Self proclaimed traders, so the strength is in its economics and production. As an example, Xtrading company was voted as the most well liked corp in the game which also highlights XIF's values in diplomacy and fairness. Also its philosophy to take a wasteland and turn it into a powerful alliance before stations were discovered.
WEAKNESS: The major weakness is its PVP abilities. This has steadly improved, however it is still considered by many to be on average lacking compare to the major alliances.
MILITARY: poor-average [1.5] ECONOMICS: good-great(?) [3.5] DIPLOMACY: good-great [3.5]
TOTALS
XIF 8.5 FA 8 SA 7.5 CA 6 MOO-EVO-ATUK 6 CFS 5
Note, I'm clearly biased here since I value diplomacy a lot more then others would. Furthermore, my information could be fubar somewhere. However, the above seems to summarize my view fairly accurately in terms of alliance successes (I put in moo-evo-atuk just for the hell of it).
Enjoy you date
