You wont ever see it so why bother. They have no legal obligation to provide the item and the only company I have ever seen honour a 'limited' number of early purchases due to such a typo was Argos with 99p 14" tv's years ago.

specification of the card is identical though,
i just orderd 5, and its being prosessed as we speak, i work for a company similar to how dell work, once a order has gone through, it goes to the shiping warehouse, where it is 'picked' then the item is sent to the correct shiping department, they wont notice the price for a long time and under UK law they have to honour it or a full refund, so you wont lose out if you order now! some of us may get them still as a good will and if you dont take it to the max and gain compensation :)

i also got confirmation email, i orderd another 3 to sell, ill sell them cheapish on ebay
email says they wil be shipped within 24 hours and deliver in 7 so my guess is that they use a parts warhouse where a courier picks up fro so its all third party from dell,
what that means is everything after the website is third party so if you order while its 12.95 then its a high chance that it will slip through and we have our awesome cards ina week or so.

these cards are basically 1 step down from top end 3d CAD style cards.
i'm not sure how good they'd be at running say crysis (altho they probably could @ max)
but, they come into their own when it comes to creating and rendering geometry and all sorts of other wonderful stuff.

i don't care if they change the price afterwards.
thats what i paid for the card, and the warehouse won't know any different.
sure, they can change the price, but for all intents a purposes, i've paid the correct (at time of publishing) price.

Careful what you're buying. There are a lot of high end video cards out there that sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars (such as this one) which are not intended for typical gaming use. They're made for more specialized functions and presuming you have any support for your game with them at all, the experience may not be any greater than the current commodity cards. |

Indeed. If you're doing video or 3D modeling and animation work, these are fantastic. Using them for gaming would be ridiculous and you would get very poor performance. Anyone thinking of getting this card for gaming should do some searches on this card and others of this caliber (such as the old Oxygen cards). They will be SERIOUSLY disappointed (you'll be lucky to get the same performance as you'd get from an 8800 - and probably much worse depending on the status of the drivers).
If these cards are being intentionally sold for this price, then... well, that's really odd and I'd be curious to know the reason. The Quadro does have a good reputation, so it can't be due to flaws.

Well, anyway, it's obviously a mess-up at the Dell thingy, and it's not like they won't notice that probably THOUSANDS of crazed people have ordered it. Even if you consider the fact they're basically just slightly more rigorously tested 8800GTX with different firmware on them, and even if the price they get them for is one quarter of the 8800GTX retail price, that's hundreds of thousands of dollars they stand to lose in case this sale actually goes through.
Say hello to a pretty long waiting line for your refunds, people. I would advise against even jokingly ordering this, all you will get is a (hopefully) temporary lack of money on your credit card (if you're unlucky, perhaps not so temporary - or a refund without some fees).

Same, I really don't need another 8800 GTX (not that I could SLI these), even if my PSU and air cooling in my cramped case were up to it, and it's more likely that I'm going to lose money in fees than get the card. I also live in the US so eh :P good luck on getting an "order shipped" though to those who have ordered

They've patched the page, checked the order status a few moments ago and it said Canceled, so I assume this means it's an epic fail. Worth a try nonetheless, now to just make them confirm this via email and get my pennys back! :O |

It wouldn't flag if people only bought 1 or 2. It's when a lot of people buy 4+ that it starts getting noticed. |

I hate to say it, but the law is on your side. It might have been fun to try requesting 24hr delivery on one, though, to see if they'd have let it slip. |

I think the point when hundreds started being ordered overnight that it got flagged.

In the UK and the EU a contract is created when you authorise payment and it's accepted. Offer + Acceptance = Agreement and a contract. Had they removed funds from banks they would have been in tricky legal situations.
Invitation to treat is only an invitation until you agree upon a contact. ------

Friend of mine and his mate got themselves 10x 4gb flash drives at the equivalent of about $1.99/each a month or two ago; the barcode got crossed with another product that was selling at that price and the teller didn't know how much the product was actually worth, so they bought out the remaining stock.
That was of course an over the counter purchase, but I have heard of people managing to get free lunch type products ranging in the several hundreds of dollars through slip-ups in online stores before...
Amazon is one of the more frequent free-lunch delis.
*ninja edit* damn the .99 convention for finally having infected my mind... |

At Tesco, in the UK, the discount labels they put on food that's approaching its sell-by date are not item-specific, so if you're feeling unscrupulous it's possible to transfer them on to more expensive products. I wouldn't want to push it, though. --- Can't afford that BPO? Look here. 20:1 mineral compression The EVE f@h team |

The interesting question is at what point they actually bill you. Most of the time, a website will instantly acknowledge receipt of payment as soon as you've entered your details, but do they actually take any funds at that point, or is there normally a delay? --- Can't afford that BPO? They all seem to differ, some do a delay some are pretty quick. |

Edited by: AnonyTerrorNinja on 14/01/2009 22:12:01 Basically, Dell messed up the pricing on their site, as they do every so often, and were listing some nVidia Quaddro cards (the cheapest, and oldest available is around $100, to give you an idea) for about $20 or so.
In this case, the product's RRP was about $1,500.
