Being somewhat of a newb, I am mining to build my first cruiser. If someone could please tell me where I can find Gneiss and Arkanor, I would be grateful.

it would probably be easier to buy them off of the market. that's what I had to do for Megacyte and Zydrine when I wanted my friend to make a Mark 3 for me.

Edited by: Scoobee on 27/07/2004 16:37:27 You won't be able to mine those minerals in a frigate...I would say cruiser with battleship support atleast, But I would think people only use battlships to mine those cause it's much quicker, and you will need an indy, and there is no station near those minerals so you will need friends... |

I have two mining II lasers on my frigate and I dont need alot so I should be able to mine it. I do have a few friends for support, I just don't know where the best place to mine it is.

Plus a cycle of your miners will probably yield more than your cargo hold therefore you'll never actually mine anything

Ark is 16m3 Per Piece. You need 200 pieces to get a refineble batch. Thats 3200m3 Ark. And you wont find a system that has a station AND Ark.
Youll have to mine it and then haul it several systems to a refinery.
You get about 140 Zyd and 280 Mega Per 200 Ark if you have no refining skills. ---------------------------

It's not that you haven't got the gear to techically mine the ores, it's that you last about 30 seconds in 0.0 sec space with that ship because of:
- rock hard NPC's with battleships that'll hurt you.
- gangs of bored, twisted 'pirates' - PKers and gankers who think EVE is Counterstrike in space, wh won't even try to ransom you or ask you what you're doing, even though you're in a low level ship, and will hurt you.
- 'alliance security', who've been playing for about a year and have 10m skillpoints and don't like you in 'their' space and definitely won't let you join 'their gang' and once they find out you're going into 'their' space to mine 'their' ore, will hurt you.
Good luck though! |

Dude!
Honestly, and I do mean honestly, if you DO find the sacred system where you can just pop into in a frig, mine some mega/zyd, and then just pop back home into Empire again, I would pay a LOT of ISK for that knowledge.
Unfortuantely, there are no shortcuts with getting Zyd/Mega, byt the very nature of it being located in 0.0 space. You either have to be sooooo big and bad that you can afford to mount up an expidition to face pretty much every challenge the game can throw at you to "go get some", OR.......you got to buy it from the market. Ask yourself which one is more worthwhile, in terms of time and money, and for most players, its the market option.

Contact me in game. If you can send me, to my private e-mail address, a single, undoctored screenshot of yourself flying one of the setups you're proposing, and mining Arkanor anywhere in 0.0, however briefly, I will give you enough cash to buy the mega and zyd at market value for your cruiser.
It's not impossible, just fairly difficult. |
