Let's see. Someone trying to float a gigantic, unsecured IPO. And a very wealthy ! as the only one interested. Well dang, this ain't no scam at all! Business plans which amount to
1. Post a quick note on M&D 2. Hope to raise an eye-popping mountain of cash 3. ??? 4. Profit!
are always welcome. However, I'm not wealthy enough so I'll be taking a great, big, vast, endless pass on this as well.

Anyone seen the South Park episode with the underpants Gnomes? You statement reminded me of that. Here is the Underpants Gnomes Plan just incase:
Step #1 - Steal Underpants Step #2 - ???? Step #3 - Profit
Just thought of it while reading all this negetivity in this thread.
Enjoy, Loney
PS. I don't "hope" to do anything. I had an idea and wanted to see what everyone else thought. I could care less if people raise 1 Trillion isk (but of course would like to see it happen) to participate in a expirement with potential for greatness. |

Well, to be fair, it doesn't take much to use lemmings for manipulation leverage. I managed a 2% buy order increase totaling approx. 16 billion on ~5 items today using maybe 600M in capital at any one time.
And this is a fail day. Some days, just for fun, I throw the lemmings into a complete frenzy with just 200k worth of stuff.
Yes, I know. Waste of market orders and capital. Still, it's at least as much fun as roaming and ganking ratters so v v

And this too is part of standard Jita Price Manipulation 101. You get people to buy from sell orders at other hubs, truck stuff in, and... cancel your buys. They wind up working their butts off to move the inventory, .01 undercutting until they're blue in the face. Then you swoop in, buy it all cheaply, and re-price. For bonus points put up higher buys in the remote hubs and see if they'll truck it all back in preparation for the next cycle.
Well hell, maybe this can work. Not sure I'd want the guy who failed in the highly profitable cap ship market at the helm of the effort, but the idea has potential.

I could be interested in a market manipulation cabal but some very simple math will tell you that one trillion is not enough to manipulate all of Jita. Hell, it's not even enough to buy up the stock sitting in Jita. It would have to have a much more narrow focus. Furthermore, unless this were very well planned and coordinated across the hubs (which would take a lot more than 1 person) this doesn't stand a chance.
Get some more trusted people involved in running it and a real business plan and I might be willing to buy a share or two but for now, no thanks.

Read it more carefully! NOT COUNTING IPO's it clearly states! The latest IPO was also clearly defined as 11.4% over 5 months time.
Your last IPO started in Feb 08 was stated as 43% over 6 months, but you did 11% over 5 months.

You are mixing the numbers. 45-65% is CDRD's Standard profit, it has been since its start. CDRE's "IPO" Profit has been be 78% and 11.4% for the 2 times it ran. The Projected 43% did not meet it goals BUT YET still made profit, the 70 billion Isk investment was voted closed by the shareholders only after 78 billion in Profit, its that simple. |

78B profit. 7B profit
11% return.
It was voted closed as you held a gun to investors heads. Take your money back or hope to hell to maybe get a profit in some future.

I think when cosmoray says 43%, he was referring to CDRE's first IPO which offered 43% over 12 months.
But regardless, cosmoray is right, you do run both CDRE and CDRD right? If one of them doesn't pay out as it should, shouldn't you have used CDRD's profit to make sure it does? After all, CDRD doesn't answer to anyone but CDRE has to answered to its investors. |

Edited by: Darkrftr on 17/01/2009 03:59:57 Let's assume this isn't a scam. Jita is the center of eve trade, the man hours it would take to hold even the basics, would be stagering. Once the manipulation crashes you will have a huge amount of assets in jita. I could go on for hours. I wish you the best of luck, but I don't think one or five really experienced traders could pull this one off. |

The summary is this: You say you've run a highly successful business yet we know, factually, that you managed poor returns in that business. So, it doesn't make a difference how much you say that you were profitable "over there" at the "same time", you can't prove that and you've never, until now, mentioned it.
So, are you lying now or were you lying then? More importantly, does it matter any longer?

Of course I don't feel the need to lie about my successes or failures and/or engage in the epeen blah, blah, blah or yadda-Veteran-yadda. It's a cool idea. If someone else was offering it I might go for it but not you. I don't believe you'll scam or a likley to get bored and just leave eve. This is simply because you've been doing what you do for so long now with large amounts of cash.
However, 1 trillion is a lot of isk for one person to hold. It would need to be at least partially secured by a third party for me to take the risk.
The market plan is a bit iffy... This could easily lose money.
The biggest reason though is that I was an investor in Cyberdyne R-E for the last IPO you ran. The returns were pretty rubbish. (Only slightly higher returns than a 1.5% per month ebank account.) My main problem was your lack of communication. I sent you several evemails that were ignored, lots of people posted in your thread asking for updates... we all got nothing until you deigned to contact us. That makes you the sort of person that I really don't want to be working with. |

Who the hell is cosmoray?
As 2004 player never haven't really heard about this guy.
Is he or she one of those MD 1337's who think that post count in MD means "I am the overlord of market!"?
MD is funny place. It's based on trust by spammers. Some really has profitable business going on. But there is only handfull of real industrial corporations in EVE wich are really making profit and having large scale production at the same time.
I there is a idea on this, but Loney just introduced it really poorly. Firstly the name... Experiment? What were you thinking? Secondly not enough half truths to fool possible investors. In short - your post is too short to convince anyone. Thirdly, shares cost too much. 1 B ISK would be possible to pull off. But 10 B ISK to just trading... Back to number 2...
Anyhoo there is already building up one of the possible largest jita manipulations... Might be good times to start buying... |

It won't work. The richest players in EVE are secretive, greedy, and control freaks. Think they'll share a mystery-flavoured pie with their peers? No chance.
I tried about a year ago to set up a cabal of sorts for exactly this type of activity amongst others, looking for just 2-3 partners each inputting 100-200B for some fun and jiggery-pokery. Lots of potential interest, but not one interested body that actually had the cash and the cajones to give it a shot. Now I just stick to occasional stabs at select Jita markets myself, just for ****s and giggles.
EDIT: I still fancy doing this so if anyone reading has the notes and the nuts, give me a shout. We could have some fun fun fun. Don't call if you don't have >100B sloshing around. |

This troll is starting to get boring. We have full fledged symptoms: completely unrealistic business plan, shills coming out of the woodwork, and the troll gets posting like it were getting paid by the post.
Here's my take. Anyone who has managed to sc**** together 10 billion isk isn't stupid enough for fall for this. There's no way that a mere trillion isk is going to "corner" the Jita market. Nobody takes this proposal seriously. And twenty day old trolls who haven't heard of cosmoray? My worldview is just shattered. Shattered.

Actually 1 trillion isk might actually just be enough. It should be ample to buy up ALL units of a certain T2 module in ALL Empire regions at the same time. Even with people dumping stock, you can easily buy up everything they throw at you, and once they run dry, invention will not nearly be enough, initially, to meet demand. If you throw in the system THE TERRORIST has been using lately, putting up Empire wide sell orders at 800mil-1bil ISK a piece, you need only a handful of people to fall for it out of ten thousands to pay you back at least a good part if not all of your investment. Once you dominate one item, move on to the next. If done sufficiently, you will be buying up more items then invention and dumping excess stock can cope with.
This plan is not sustainable however on the long term, it would get to big and collapse under it's own weight, but it could wreck havoc on the market for at least a month, tricking a lot of players into buying hugely overpriced modules, creating huge scarcity for a bunch of T2 modules, and of course countless of whine threads and petitions of people that cannot cope with EvE's hard reality.
Heck, if I had 1 trillion+ ISK, I would risk it all and just try it. It might fail, but it will be one of the most intense and adrenaline-pumping times one can experience in EvE. And you'll be one of the select few that will be able to say; "I had 1 trillion ISK, and I poured it all down the drain."

Actually, if I had a trillion isk, I'd go in for something with a lot longer lead time than t2 modules. Here's my trillion isk fantasy. When Quantum Rise came out, that was the time to corner the obelisk and charon markets (the most commonly used freighters). Start off weeks ahead of time by buying out the relevant component parts BPOs in contracts, particularly cargoholds. Have an alt make bids for the big producers' and copiers' BPOs to drive down supply over the long term. Hoard low end minerals in the trade hubs.
Then hire several big merc corps to suicide gank obelisks and charons everywhere in empire starting the first day of QR (they might expand to other freighter types, if they start flying in large numbers, just to increase the pressure). Buy out all the obelisks and charons in empire. Buy out cargohold parts and perhaps other selected freighter components as well.
Bam! There's a demand spike for obelisks, charons, and the materials that make them coinciding with your cornering of the market and the ramp up for orcas. Havoc happens. Tears on forums. Fun is had. Who knows, you might even make isk while you're at it.

Publicly announced market manipulation are doomed to fail for obvious reasons. So how are you going to pay back the 1 trillion isk, after your manipulations have failed ?
