I have a question about how Blueprint copies work. I have a BPC with the following attributes:
Produces: Bantam[1] Licensed Production Runs Remaining: 10 Production Limit: 30
Assuming infinite resources are available, how many Bantams can I make using this blueprint before it's used up?
Questions: 1. What does 'Production Limit' mean? I've had BPOs with a Production Limit of 30 but have used them to make 200+ items in a single shot.
2. How does Production Limit relate to Runs Remaining?

Production limit is if I made a max run copy of the bpc, that is how many runs would be on it.

I didn't think you could make copies of BPCs...

Copies of BPO's.
Produciton Limit is the max number of runs you can get on a BPC By copying the BPO.

Production Limit is misleading. It should be named 'Maximum Licsensed Production Runs per Copy'. It has nothing at all to do with production, only copying and invention.

Well, it is also the max number of runs you can make from a BPO in one job, if producing from the BPO directly, which is wher ei think it originally got it's name (before they HAD BPC's)

Not so. The Production Limit has no affect on the number you can manufacture at once from a BPO. The only limiting factor there is the number you can produce in the 30-day timeframe you are limited to for manufacturing/research jobs. |

I can attest that this isn't the case, as I once put a 30 Prod Limit Shuttle BPO into a manufacturing slot and cranked out 200 runs in a single shot. Took several days, though.

Wrong on all accounts.
a) It is not, the maximum you can produce from a BPO is 30 days worth OR 1 run, whichever is larger. b) The 'production limit' attribute was not listed on BPOs until after invention was introduced, which was many years after BPCs had that limit placed on them. And if there weren't BPCs that attribute has no meaning at all. The name 'production limit' is given because it is the maximum number of runs per copy you can 'produce' a BPC with. Thus the 'production' of BPCs.

Still, it's a bit confusing. They could rename it to "Copy Limit". |
