Does it make him Hawaiian-american because of his mother? As the Irish have already claimed (as they always do) that he has Irish roots does that make him africanirish-american? Dont get me wrong, I wanted Obama as president (the alternative was too scary to even consider) and i'm pleaseed that america finally saw past 'race' as an issue but I must admit i'm getting a little fed-up of people ignoring the white heritage that also makes up the man known as Barack Obama. If you are a product of your upbringing (rather than just birth) then surely he should be more properly known as mykenyandadfukedoffandIwasraisedbymywhitemotherandindonesianstepfather andmywhitegrandmotherwhodidallthehardwork? Lets hope he lives up to his promises. If he only achieves half of all that we hope he will, then he will have done 10 times more than any president since the 50's.

What funny is people thinking that being somebody's 8th cousin matters... Obama and Cheney may be (I can't substantiate it on a reputable news site that has more than Lynne Cheney's word as truth) 8th cousins. That means they shared a great great great great great great great, yes, that 7 greats, grandparent. So 9 generations, for expediousness, call it 20 years to a generation, that means President Obama and former Vice-President Cheney's blood relation ended approximately 180 years ago. Now, since it is common knowledge that good people can have horrible kids and horrible people can have kids who are angels, why does it matter that Cheney and President Obama might have had a common ancestor 180 years or more ago?

Of course not but if you join the military you can expect to be sent abroad for different reasons (humanitarian, intervention). If I were in (and I've kept the option open tbh) I would really like to be able to help others in a slightly unconventional way. There was a huge fuss a few years ago when Dutch troops were being sent to Afghanistan and crying moms and dads appeared on tv appealing to the defence minister not to send out their dearest kids to a warzone. I have no problem with being deployed to fight a war or otherwise, however; I hope that I will never have to fight. I know the likelihood of me spending my entire career doing nothing but training is very low, but that would be ideal. My reasoning for joining is that I believe that, despite its flaws, the US is the best country on Earth and I feel a duty to defend my country and my people. To put it in the words of one of my cadre at the end of last semester, "You are being given the skills necessary to kill people and break stuff, if that doesn't scare you, there's the door."

I was totally against the wall street bailout was actually really ticked off that they gave the OK for it. The automotive industry I can understand but wall street?
