Hi Are there any modules which increase lock time. For example: I'm sitting in space somewhere with "x" module running and someone waprs in and proceeds to lock me. But because I have "x" module running, it takes them longer to lock me, giving me a few extra seconds to GTFO. I have been told that modules like remote sensor boosters loaded with scan resolution scripts will do this but I need to target someone first for them to work, which is not what I want. Any feed back will be greatly appreciated

remote sensor booster will enhance your scan resolution, i.e. he will lock you faster if he's being remote sensor boosted.
there is no such module that you are looking for, your closest option is the remote sensor dampener with scan resolution script which will dampen your opponents lock time.
although, like you stated, you need to lock him first.
the only mod I can think of where you don't need to lock him which will break his lock is an ECM burst, although you need to be very close and you have a chance-based turnout |

Edited by: Somalian on 22/01/2009 09:45:15 the smaller your ships signature radius the longer it will take for someone to lock you. frigates generally have the smallest sig radius so fly one of those if you can?
using shield extenders increases your sig radius so dont use those and you wont get locked as fast
also warp core stabalisers will give you a good chance to GTFO even if youre locked |

Fitted to a battlecruiser or command ship when you are in a fleet with the correct mindlink can reduce sig radius by 25%, more if your fleet is getting bonus' from a claymore.
thats a lot of training though , so i'd recommend a scouts and keeping a close eye on local as a less skill intensive training option.

Thanks for the feed back guys. I actually meant to type remote sensor dampeners instead of boosters (trying to ninja post at work without anyone noticing :) ) Maybe auto target back with sensor dampeners running might help. Thanks

you need to lock first for remote sensor dampners to work especially the range reducing ones, lock time script won't save you. chances are you won't lock first the best way really is to scout and keep an eye on local. |

ECM Bursts sound like what you're looking for. They don't require a target and have a decent chance to break locks on vessels around your ship. Unlike a regular ECM they can immediately lock again and you can't stack them (only one can be active at a time), for a quick 'oh ****' button they're about as good as it gets. Wait to hit it until you're actually tackled though, doing it before you're locked does no good at all.
You can also fill your hold with ECM drones, when they break the lock, warp out (leave your drones, losing them is worth not losing your ship).
You can also agility-fit your ship. Nanofibers and inertia stabilizers will help you get into warp faster, ideally before you can be locked and tackled. This (combined with a cloaking device) is the best and most common option for running lowsec gate camps.
As for remote sensor damps will increase the lock time, but requires *you* have a lock first. Not really worth it as a last-ditch escape mechanism. |

Thats the closest you'll get to "passively" making them take longer to lock you |

if you want to Increase your lock time, I'd recommend fitting a few Warp Core Stabs! Doubles your lock time! |

problem is convincing his opponent to do so since he doesn't want to suffer from low scan res himself but rather inflict it on the other guy

As for Inertia Stabilisers, many people did yet not notice that, since QR, they give a signature penalty ;)
So, going nanos only is rather what you are looking for. |

I've been looking through the database and found this module: ECM - Multispectral Jammer II. According to the stats, it's optimal range is 36000m with an accuracy fall off of 18000m. It's description is: "An advanced multipurpose jamming system designed to offer blanket protection against all forms of targeting. Not as effective as the more specialized systems but is still effective against less advanced targeting systems" doesn't this sound like what I was looking for in my original post? From the description, it sounds like if you are with in the 36000m and 18000m range, you would find it harder to lock me, or take longer to do so? |

thats an ecm module if your not caldari its not gonna be very effective, and again you need a lock to use it on the enemy, and it is chance based if you wanna gtfo fit 2 warp core stabs or some inertial stabilizers and head for the hills the second someone pops up in local |

I'm sure there used to be a module way back in the dawn of time that reduced your sig rad. I think it was - confusingly - called a cloak or something. If it was ever even implemented it was before my time, which would make it a long time ago indeed. Could be one of those database only things.
I guess interceptors used to get a sig rad reduction per skill level too. So if you have a time machine you could check that and the old cloaks out.
Otherwise I got nothing. Just what people said - implants and gang links. |

Doesn't work how you think it does. There's no indicator that they have started to lock you, only when they've finished - at which point you start to lock back, but by then they'll have already fired/tackled.
OK, so if they're far enough away 'range' damping might still drop their lock, but I wouldn't count on it. |
