So are halfbreeds technically possible in EvE?
While something like the Jove it'd be reasonable to say that it's utterly uncompatible DNA that can't get the fetus to grow without massive amounts of technological help.
However the question that I'm asking is are the other races DNA similar enough to each other to form halfbreeds? Genetic drift, or prehaps tampering with DNA way way back when the EVE gate was still running to make planets more tolerable(maybe even make food compatible).
For instance the mimimatar race Tattoos aren't really tattos according to a past chronicle but rather complex biological reactions to drugs and their bodies reaction. There's probably a few other examples stuffed in the chronicles detailing things that "just aren't human".
So enough changes to make halfbreeds completely impossible? Or just soo much of a taboo that it just doesn't happen enough for us to hear about it?

I see no reason for halfbreeds not to be possible, genetic materail do not change that much by itself in only a few thousand years, unless you are jove.

Caldari state came out of the Gallente Federation relatively recently, i'm pretty sure they can breed just fine. |

Ummmm I don't think so. Sounds cool but TBH 1) there are more than enough customization options already, 2) doesn't make sense as a skill since you can't change base attributes after char creation, 3) doesn't make sense in char creation since there already more than enough options offering maxing out in one area or the other or balance across multiple areas or w/e.

interesting idea... pretty sure due to war, religous beliefs, politial beliefs and the number would be low (cept maybe gal/min).
also i want a halfbreed of chribba and a isk miner =) would make a great pet.

Crossbreeding between Matari, Caldari, Amarr and Gallente is probably still possible. The Jove by this point have probably drifted to far genetically.
Homo sapiens sapiens (you me everyone on earth today and for last say 10k years)
Homo sapiens matari
Homo sapiens caldari
Homo sapiens amarr
Homo sapiens gallente
Homo jove jove (In essence another species of the Homo genus).
I would at least be surprised if there are not half breeds of at least Amarr and Matari stock. After all it was not uncommon for slave holders of earth to breed with their slaves.
Now considering how far the genetic drift is it is possible all such hybrids are infertile. |
