One of the new features in Direct X11 is allowing all rendering to be done by the CPU, where there isn't any good 3d hardware present (read Intel integrated graphics, found in most netbooks).
Performance is reportedly better than Intel GMA 950 or so, reasonable framerates even in games like Crysis. You'll need to put either Vista or Windows 7 on your netbook though. With Atom, you might need one of the dual core Diamondville chips rather than the first gen single core models though. Nevertheless that will probably be the best way to get Eve-Lite working on a netbook in the future, unless it has Nvidia's s****y Ion platform. |

Edited by: eladi on 26/01/2009 03:01:15 About time ... 3d analyze bin the tool for years to use when your hardware cant handle it. Unless in in the blank/black I find it just..strange that no company or genius has taken Video hardware emulation to the next level yet.
Anyways, if you have a real old someting and wana run some more modern games download this. For exsame, it alouws me to play Never winter night 2 on my Acer 110 netbook. enable TnL under the DX8.1 options and you might need a no-cd "fix" for some games.

OMG thank you for linking that - they mention the Toshiba "Libretto", a machine which I think I saw in a television show (Ultimate Force) but couldn't identify, until now. |

I'm defintiely thinking about getting a Samsung NC10, which is also Atom/GMA950 based.
Looks like the spec should support Premium Lite, but has anyone got general day-to-day experiences of these new Atom notebooks? Might get one for email/web, taking notes at work, and the occasional game.

I've had the NC10 for a while now, it can handle the classic client without any serious problems, though i wouldn't really try to do anything combat-intensive, it slows down quite a bit when there's a lot going on. Mining, trading, light ratting etc is fine though. It should in theory handle the premium lite client, but we'll see about that. |

Would you recommend it?
Thinking it'd be a good backup for photography, and general net/office usage when I'm away from work. Being able to play Eve is a bonus. |

from where in hell you got those ideas? Goodperformance in crisis? A NVIDIA 280 has about 16 times more processing power than the TOP quad core CPU from intel. Its only aterrible and untruthful propaganda anythignthat says otherwise. |

Definitely, it's really good at what it does. For the purposes of office work etc it's a normal computer in every aspect - i even have AutoCAD on it, runs fine - but the mobility is second to none. Hell, you could fit it in cargo pants' pocket ;). They somehow managed to keep the keyboard size reasonable, so typing shouldn't be a problem, unlike for example with the Toshiba netbook. Actually, now that i think of it, there's only one thing i don't like about it - the touchpad, which is a little bit too small and too wide. Battery life is very good, up to about 7 hours in low power mode, about 5-6 when watching movies.

Unless you can find one with a 22 inch (or larger)widescreen monitor, forget it, unless you want a really lousy game experience.

Ahh, screen shouldn't be a problem. 99% of the time it'll be docked to a USB keyboard/mouse and decent monitor. Was looking at these Dynadock things which use DisplayLink technology, but DisplayLink doesn't support DirectX. |

works fine here with compiz, don't pvp with it but thats due to the screen size not the frame rate.

After premium lite came, I`m getting 5 fps in stations on my EEEPC 1000H. This is not due to the fancy graphics or anything like that, but because they REMOVED the Do not load station environment tick.
If I warp to any Jita moon and zoom out, I get 20++ fps.
