Ok comparing eve to real life is pointless, but tell an actual combat pilot that his craft must be easyer to hit going very slow than moving at over 2000 km/h,he will probably and then
Edit: Uh yeah 2000 km/h not km/s lol
Ok,heres an easy solution
Say your running a microwave k?
Say im running a huge ass furnace for smelting iron.
Which is gonna show up more on a heat tracking goggles,my furnace of course,im putting out loads more power than you are.
Thus its understandable reasonable to assume that MWDS use alot more power than ABS and thus give a bigger signal out of where you are and the ships targetting computer can get a better lock on you.
Ps. anyone careing to comment on wht ive said go ahead,i'll be back tomarrow to respond to it.

Quote: I really wanna hear what the devs would like me to do with my frig after the next nerf?
can't use it for speed.. i put on a mwd and i get insta locked and killed in 1 hit, and AB's are pretty much useless if i can't mount a 10mn. can't run blockades anymore, drones tear them to shreds if u can't outrun them. Same with missiles, even with the missile changes you get hit like a BS if u have a mwd active. so wtf is the point of having a frig or cepter?
have you ever tried using a mwd on a frig? its not that bad. sure, you can get targeted faster... but unless you are 70k out from a bs and go directly at it, you wont get hit hardly at all. you'll have a sig radius of 262 max(some caldari frig... kessie i think with catalyzed cold gas mwd) most others will be down near 200 or so. but the speed you get DOES make up for that... i use dual heavy beam lasers on my arma... my tracking speed is .02 rad/s(the fastest long range turrets i believe)... so at 70k, the max transversal velocity i can hit with these turrets is 1400m/s. think you can go faster than that in your frig? of course you can.
now if you're webbed and have a mwd active, thats a different story. but outside of webbing range, you really dont have anthing to worry about if you pay attention.

have you actually TRIED using a 1mn mwd in combat?
i use it all the time (sacrifices for 10mn ab are too much anyway) and i'm always seeing "xxxxx misses you completely" |

Are you kidding me? What am I supposed to do with my battleship after the drone and proposed missile changes go through?
I'm glad I trained for interceptors now, bring on the 40 vs 40 frigate lag fests again!

Why do people always ask questions like this?
Everytime a "nerf" has come around people have adapted. Every single major or minor patch in the last 7 months that I've seen, people ask the same thing: "oh my how will I ever do <insert fav moan here>".
Seriously, don't worry about it, you'll find a way to use that frig.

several things:- a 1mn mwd gives a rifter a sig radius of well over 500 a claw, with interceptor 2 about 150
now.. when npc'ing, it's easy to take apart cruers with or without mwd, thewy stll can;t hit you, and with their missiels can;t either
but the frigates will eat you alive
with 10mn ab:- 1 50k caracal and 5 saboteurs, no damagre, slight shield denting, dead spawn
with catalysed coldgas mwd, same spawn, warped out first time, with 50% struct damage, warped back after repairs, got another saboteur, and again, had to warp out to let cap recharge and armour repair
repeat untill what? it's taken so long to ge ot he last saboteur that the first has respawned.. **** this.,. where did i leave the v-s8 ab?

I'm getting REALLy tired of dumb-ass frig warriors who think fitting an MWD makes them get insta-ganked by large turrets.
You're meant to be frigate pilots yet you don't have the slightest clue
I know what you can do with your frigate, Exarch, but I'm afraid you'll need to bend over and buy some KY.

I'm almost exclusively a frigate pilot, so this is should be of great interest to me. Guess what? Its not. Why? Cos I'll adapt to whatever CCP decide to change. Why? Cos I'm an adult.
Deal with it, or fly something else.
The secret is to evolve with the game. -------------------------------------------- Dead

Edited by: CKOZUK on 30/07/2004 11:13:36 I was in a Battle last night in my frig using mwd, I held down and scrambled 3 BS on seperate occasions and all the time I had an Amrageddon and a Tempest shooting me and not once did they hit me. So you sir know nothing :p The above text is my own views which may not represent my corps views.

It just ocurred to me, would't it make more sense that you just couldn't fire any weapons while using the MWD? So it could be used for getting in, getting out, evade, but not agressively? Not something i really thought thouroughly...

Well, maybe it's like this:
The MWD creates some sort of magnetic field around your ship to speed you up and this field, as a downside, pulls everything towards it, so Shots fired at you get pulled towards you, thats why they hit you better if you use a mwd, or something like that.
orbiting a bs in a frig with mwd active is the same as having it inactive. its only if you are stupid enough to be using a mwd to aproach or fly away in a straight line.
And really, when games become realistic they become boring, i know i perfer a more challenging game and frigs were way to easy to be effective with before.
Additionally:
Train Interceptor skill to lvl5 to knock a bit off the sig radius
Train Acceleration Control Skill to lvl 5 to help max out your speed
Fit A MWD II, more boost, same sig penalty
Be in a gang with someone has the skill trained to give you the speed boost (forget name, at work)
Fit an overdrive / nanofiber in one of your low slots.
I do all of the above and although not invulnerable - I stand a good chance.

I swear... The sig penalty is 500% not 500
You have a sig radius oflike 100 in a frigate. Jesus --
