Having said that, Im sorry we didnt all get a good fight out of it, but its ccps game, rules, umpires and decision. I think its a bit odd that the problems occured, seemingly onesided all the time, but I also respect the fact that most of us werent there, and that in the heat of the upcoming battle watching the client clock might not have been more important than watching the opposing team =) I think they know the problem exists, they may or may not correct it, and thats that. If you disagree- stop playing or accept it.
Good luck Prime Orbital Systems in your upcoming battles!
Creating the channel has been suggested, although it wont do us or any of the other victoms any good for this weekends matches. As far as it being "CCP's Game", that kind of think is what leads to SOE. For many of our pilots, it was the first tourney match they've ever done and they where on an adrenaline rush. Also, I have no idea what was said to your team, maybe it was clearer for them.
Your guys probably should be as upset as we are about it as well. With our lower rank, its dragging your rank down as well. |

i posted this aswell in an other post..
we got our rules 5 minutes before the match it was a wall of text and as a none native english person it takes some time to take it all up. Then after a while a GM says goodluck and crush your enemy. we started getting locks by the oponent, so we started shooting. We had an tactic to get first lock and kill thats what we trained upon so we couldnt lose anytime. Then we got punished by taking out an paladin vs an iskhur..
communication wasnt clear at all. Mabe if you have some experience with the tourny or when yo you have done 10 team syou think its clear for your self but it was not..

Our wall of text was before our team was even moved. Then we had several minutes to stare the other team down. Then we get a count down in local after the last communication from ccp was to watch local for a count down. |

Originally by: CCP Claw Prime Orbital Systems opened fire early on the opposing team, destroying a Blackbird and a Kitsune before they were stopped from firing. This was due to a lack of understanding of the rules which are clearly communicated in the rules threads, by the GMs in fleet chat, and by myself in local chat.
After this, we were in the process of reimbursing these two ships so that the match could continue, despite the fact that this would have delayed our schedule; at this point POS would have suffered a points penalty for the infraction.
During this, POS also moved a Blackbird over 20km.
As a result of these two rules infractions, the game was no longer in a fairly playable state and I chose to award a forfeit win to Tenth Legion.
Prime Orbital Systems are not disqualified from the tournament, however they will receive 0 points and Tenth Legion will receive a full 125 points.
Dear CCP Claw:
You fail
Quoted from Official Rules Thread posted by CCP Claw http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=934209 Place & Tactics "6. When cameras are ready, the host will begin a countdown. When the countdown ends, the fight begins. The host will also set off a powerful ECM burst at this time. 7. If a player warps out/leaves the arena, his/her ship will be destroyed."
Key wrod ENDs the fight will begin.
Also for the blackbird going outside the areana, that ship should have been destroyed and not to disquilify the team.
You rules, you did this team wrong.
You need to fix this.

As for explaining the unexplainable.. nah.. just cut it.
Noone else can be blamed for this, but the guy/guys who phail to read a single word, especially a word written in capital letters.
As for the punishment. CCP has a long history of dishing out punishments on a whim, and making ad-hoc judgement calls. This i see no different personally. Last year a team moving would only have had the moving ships hp halved. This year it seems it worthy of a DQ.
There should be a clear book of rules THAT ALSO CONTAIN the standard penalties for rule violations and all this arguing could be avoided.
As for the countdown.. it can be confusing, especially if it is your first time. Confusing however is no excuse.
There would be ways to make it less confusing, but it does not mean its CCPs to blame, its merely the fact that they could make the tournament a little more seamless if they would act to prevent these things from happening and make the job of the FCs somewhat easier.
My favorite solution would be a special channel for each arena, where the fighters are invited instead of local. My post does not represent the general or official opinion of anyone else besides me. No matter what YOU believe. Phear the arrows of the HUNs >>----> |

The standard penalty for moving or coming in at the wrong range is to be half-healed - and this penalty has been applied numerous times.
I think we have pretty much said all there is to say on this, but I wanted to just clarify one point that seems to be missed by a lot of people.
POS did not forfeit because they shot first, or because they moved. They forfeit because of two infractions - one fairly major infraction, and then continued to break the rules while we were trying to fix the first issue.
As such we have to make a judgement call in these situations. If you want to see a list of the penalties that we may apply - that is available in the rules thread here. In the case we have here - the penalty given was about the most lenient we could be at that point. |

What nonsense.
1) "continued to break the rules" --- Basically the Blackbird was still in mostion from the initial error. No one said "get back to the starting spots", no one said anything except "stop firing". There was no "continued to break the rules" - you are just making that crap up to justify handing out a different punishment than what was handed to other teams which made the same mistake.
2) The punishment handed out was the most lenient that could at that point - holy cow, aren't you just the most gracious of people on earth. I'm glad you didn't send executioners straight to my house and kill me in real life. Merely being DQ'd from the tourney (which is exactly what the punishment was) was a really lenient sentence.
Don't get me wrong, I don't expect the ruling to be changed in the slightest - but the crap that you guys spew regarding the justification for the ruling is really ****-poor. Anyways, we all know it's your tourney and you'll run it as you please - but spare us the "we were being gracious and you guys brought it on yourselves" crap. |

As a neutral observer, I don't think this has been handled well at all.
It takes all of an extra few keystrokes to address who the countdown is for.
It's not hard to relay rules to teams prior to match starts to give everyone an equal footing. While I speak english natively, I appreciate there are a lot of people in-game who don't. I think it's somewhat unfair to not give them a chance to fully comprehend what's being said - especially in such a tense moment as the one these pilots are no doubt in just moments before their fight.
Sure, people may think "it's fine as is" but given it's not harder to make the information more user friendly - why not do it? |
