I'm out and about flying my happy Myrm doing level 3s when they throw me an occasional BS target. Ok, no problem I can handle this, BUT should I throw out 3 heavies OR 2 heavies and 3 scouts? My math-fu is weak and I this question has been bugging me. My proposed fix is to increase the bandwidth lol
fakeedit: I normally go for 2 heavies and 3 scouts |

Should have a medic and soldier on your team, no good just heavies and scouts running around.
But seriously, I'd suggest taking out the heavies from the Myrmidon completely and going with sets of medium and light drones. With rails and 5 T2 hammerheads with decent skills, you'll easily bring any level3 battleship down |

it used to 125 bandwidth but they took that out when they realized myrm was basicly a domi in a smaller package. |

Having 2 heavies,2 meds and 1 light scout does more damage than 3 heavy drones, you also get the limited benefit of half of your drones not moving at the speed of a tractor, that said the difference is not massive, but if you want to push every last dps point, then 5 drones is the way to go |

2x Heavy 2x Medium 1x Light for max DPS out of 75 bandwidth. *** Currently Playing: Trolls from Outer Space Current Equipment: VISAcard chain mail, +2 Amulet of Epic Whine, Self Banstick +2 WTB: +666 E-peen killboard stats |

Highest DPS with 75 bandwidth is in fact 2 heavy drones, 2 mediums and a light. Depending on your drone bay carrying enough drones to support this and other configurations may not be feasible so you might want to go for something in between. The battleships in level 3 missions are going to be the weakest ones anyway and they should go down to a flight of bonused mediums, so it's probably not worth changing your drone bay config to deal with these occasional ships.
And even if your maths-fu is weak, this is exactly the kind of question that EFT excels at and its maths is pretty good...

As fast as level 3 ship pop, the drones will be moving from ship to ship very frequently. 5x mediums might not have the maximum EFT DPS, but they will definitely make up for it from saved travel time. Besides, I'm never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down |

To my knowledge, you can fit 3 heavies, 5 meds and 5 lights in your drone bay on a myrmi (haven't flown one in a bit).
With those you should hit frigs with the lights, cruisers with the mediums and BCs and up with the heavies. |

Medium drones can handle 95% of frigates easily with decent drone skills (if you're flying a myrmidon as a drone boat, you should have enough drone skills).
I only use lights on the occasional extra powerful tackling frigates, which are pretty rare in 3's. |

The myrmidon needs 5 heavies again. Why should the ishtar (a smaller class ship) have a larger drone bay with nearly the same slot layout... |

Or at least 4 heavies. 5 would be awesome, but then the Domi needs something else :p
I use 5 T2 mediums as I don't have T2 heavies, marginally more dps in eft & given how slow heavies are, rather more in game I suspect. Could try 2 sentries instead of the heavies.

Because an Ishtar needs more than Gallente Cruiser 3 and Battle cruiser 2.

There's more to it than just skill requirements.
After all, the vexor and navy vexor both have 100m3 of drone space but the navy vexor has 100mb bandwidth to the vexor's 75mb.
Then there's the minor point that the vexor requires cruiser 2, less training than cruiser 3 and BC 2, and has the same bandwidth as the myrmidon.
Just some observations. |

You're right. Vexor should only have 50mbit bandwith. |

Funny, I don't recall saying that.
Besides, if you're going to talk about lowering the bandwidth of the vexor based on the info I posted then the navy vexor, arbitrator, and thorax should probably have their bandwidths lowered as well. Likely the sentinel too and perhaps the ishkur. Then the eos should have its bandwidth increased.
An awful lot of work, really.
Just increasing the myrmidon's, and possibly the eos' (at the loss of another turret I suppose), bandwidth to 100mb would be as good and less work. |

You are always better for going maximum number of drones first, size second. With 75m3, your optimal mix is two heavies, 2 mediums and a light. -- 249km locking? |
