Shield tank on Amarr ships is fail. (Unless certain Khanid T2 variants).
Why? Because Amarr simply doesn't have midslots for boosters, extenders, rechargers, hardeners et.c.
What Amarr has alot of is low slots. What fits in low slots? You got it, armor repairs, armor hardeners, armor plates.
Most ships barely have enough midslots to support propulsion+ewar/tackle already. |

So you'll let your enemy go through a ****ty shield tank, only to get to a sub-par buffer.
You can test it out on me if you like. |

Bolded your mistake. In pretty much every circumstance i've come across its always best to fit your ship according to where it is strongest as apposed to improving the parts its not so strong.

Only two amarr ships can be effectively shield tanked and thats the harbinger and arbitrator. The plus for shield tanking the harb is a capless 60~70k ehp omni tank that lets you easily fit and permarun a full rack of three heatsink boosted heavy beams or pulse. A bit better for pve than pvp due to no mids for ew but as the harb is a damage dealer you normaly have another ship tackling anyways. Arbitrator has a really good pve shield tank that lets you run missions all the way up to level 3 though a select few might be just a tad too much to tank.

ok ill think bot that then. so 'not good sheild, great amour' as opposed to 'not bad sheild and not bad amour'?

Arbitrator hulls can do it successfully. But its not much point since they have very little use for damage mods in the low slots. (Exception would be a HAM Curse)
What you are looking for are Sansha ships.

Definitely. One task done well is better than two tasks done poorly.
For the same reason, don't mix short range and long range weapons |

for PVP it's popular sometimes to fit a harbinger with the largest guns in the highs (Heavy Pulse Laser IIs), a MWD, warp disruptor, and 2 large shield extenders in the mids, and in the lows 3 damage mods, a damage control, and some other stuff. shield extender rigs or resist rigs in the rig slots.
It's popular because it has similar effective HP to an armor tanked ship, but is much faster since i doesn't have any plates to slow it down. |

In general Amarr ships got too few mid slots to effectively shield tank. Some ships can do it however, like the Harbinger and the Pilgrim. It all depends what you want to achive really. |

And another advantage is the speed you get with shields. |

Unfortunately your Harbinger setup is useless for pvp and pve. For Christ's sake, drop at least two of the LSE's and go with MWD and scram. 4 Heat sinks is a waste, use 3 max, and pulse w/ scorch already has kickass range, so drop the TE's. Also, please don't fit 6 guns. Everyone will laugh at you.

Shield tank your Curse. Works for me 11000000% better than an armour tank (provided you have the skills of course). |

Unless you want to use more than 1 td (in my case 4 atm) then you tank armour, but it doesn't come close to shields |

Whut he said - good at one thing is very much better than mediocre at two. As with all such things, there's exceptions, but they're uncommon, and when you know them you'll know and understand why they exist too :) -- 249km locking? |
