Originally by: People Eater Now I didn't read through this entire thread because most people probably said the same thing. They are always full of the Raven gets a RoF bonus but the Golem gets a Target Painter bonus! Now that's all fine and dandy but the Golem has another AMAZING bonus: 5% bonus to cruise missile and torpedo explosion velocity per level.
Yes, I've said that twice already, as have others. |

Before flaming someone you really should check if there isn't an "amp" of some kind that goes into a lowslot and isn't quite so uncommon on mission ravens of any kind.
Please show me that Low Slot Shield Amp.... in my eyes it's no flaming telling someone that he writes nonsense, if he does

Not shield, but signal amplifier, like, passive sensor booster. But as I said, on re-reading I didn't know either whatever he meant. edit: man on 3rd reading, it does sound like he's talking shield... I shouldn't forum while half asleep...

again.. "All level V" profile, no implants if you feel that it's not a viable tank for any lvl4, you might need to rethink your missioning tactics. falling asleep with a full-stage aggro is not a good tactics, and never was.
Originally by: Kaivos Even after that I dont think I would call it a comfortable tank. I don't like to run missions with a constant sweat on my forehead. Some level of insurance is needed that my tank will hold in most situations.
ok, let's say it clearly now: Golem is for pilots who are even lazier than CNR pilots. and for pilots who feel insecure about their tanks. i agree.

Pricey setup there...Since I fly Golems I suppose that means I'm too lazy to add anything else constructive to this post.

Went quikly over op's first post, have not read rest of the thread other than skimming over it. So it's another one of 'those' threads it seems so far. Ie - 'can you fit cnr with torps and will golem painter bonus be better'.
I will just state that CNR can fit T2 torps, 3 missile rigs and enough tank to last thru missions without warpouts. However unless one is going way-overtop-expencive there is only enough room left for either afterburner or painter, but in most cases not for both. Or the tank will not be strong enough to do all missions without warpouts. (when putting price cap for whole setup at reasonable levels, say max 1.5 bil or so). Have not done math for 3 rigs + 1 painter vs golems painter bonus + explo velocity bonuses + 2 rigs.
One of the old threads about CNR vs Golem Chatter about CNR's Golems and damage with some actual numbers. Flare vs Rigor debate.
Those links might give you more or less overview what has been already discussed about CNR vs Golem and related issues to draw your own conclusions if this or that is comatible with your playstyle.

Yea, pretty much everything relevant in those threads has been mentioned here. It's a redundant topic really. |

Edited by: Gul Rashen on 09/02/2009 19:07:27 Keep in mind that a 4 Slot Tank on the Golem is stronger than a 5 Slot tank on the CNR. If you fit the same tank on the Golem you will have 3 free Medslots instead of the 1 on the CNR, so it would be possible to fit 2 TPs and 1 AB. When you use T2 Rigs for maximal Torprange you can only fit a Flare I on the CNR. But even if you use a Flare II and two T1 Rangerigs, the Golem has its 2 TPs, AB, still higher Explovelo, more Cap and then up to 12km higher Torprange in return. Let's take a look on them with an equal Tank fitted. CNR: Explovelo CN/T1/Jav on the CNR with a Flare II=127,8 Targetsig*1,375 with the 1 TP Golem: Explovelo CN/T1/Jav on the Golem=133,125 Targetsig*1,5156*1,5156 with the 2 TPs +AB Easy calculation

Thanks for the links, they provide good perspective when researching this topic. Ill be learning marauders in the next week or so, & good constructive posts are sometimes thrown out with the bathwater. My attraction to the Golem isn't as much about its tank, as much as its cargo capacity, and tractor bonuses. I can imagine salvage in bulk will sell quite nicely with new ships and modules coming around the corner. The other extras are icing to me
