EVEPV.com is a new EVE online auction site based on the popular Swoopo.comÖ. EVEPV.com is almost ready to launch but we need some volunteers to beta test our system to make sure its ready for live auctions.
We need as many people as possible to sign up on our site and bid on auctions that we have started. These are NOT live auctions and you will NOT receive the item you are bidding on. This is only to test the mechanics of the site.
When you sign up you will receive several hundred bids which you can use on any of the beta auctions that will be running. Again, these are only test auctions and NO items will be given out nor will we be asking you to send any money to purchase bids. Once we are confident in our system we will be launching the live site with real auctions. If you have any questions feel free to ask them here. Thanks in advance for you help! |

Not to worry. No scamming involved. Wait and see! Plus to beta test you don't lose anything!

No scamming after the beta either...what would be the point?
If we scam no one will use it and if no one uses it, its not very profitable is it?

That's why you don't scam people until they start using it. |

But then they would stop using it wouldn't they? The more people that use it the better. We stand to make alot more from running the site on the up and up then we do from scamming the first few users and then shutting it down. If you don't want to try it that is ok! |

Since you are playing dumb:
You let it run for like a month or however long it takes to get it really going. Then, once it is really going, that is when you strike. |

Lol! I think you may be a bit confused about what the site actually does...
How would I "strike" after getting the site running for a couple of months. Auctions will end likely on a daily basis and those items will be distributed to the winners. We make ISK from the site and the lucky winners get EVE stuff for super cheap! I fail to see your "logic".
Anyhow no amount of my typing will convince skeptics. I do hope the winners will post on the forums that they did indeed receive their items. Lets stop the flaming and keep it to the topic of getting me some beta testers. You can flame away if I do indeed scam somebody.
Thanks!

Thanks to Idun Asafar for signing up and bidding. I really need a few more. I fear the hijacking of my thread has turned away some. As Idun Asafar can attest to you really have no risk in testing this. Once we go live I will give beta testers 5 additional free bids to use. www.evepv.com EVE Online Auction site! |

Using the ingame auction system does not allow for what EVEPV will accomplish. When we get ready to go live I will happily announce all the details. Our auctions will all start at zero and have no reserve. More details on the exact operation later. Now i just need to hammer the server.
Those mysql errors you saw are what i need to see. I know why you got them and I'm working on fixing things so you dont get them. They do eventually go away. It has to do with a maximum amount of queries in a given time. Thanks for posting!
I understand that people are skeptical of this due to the amount of scammers in EVE but I do assure you I'm trying to set up a legitimate and hopefully enjoyable way of buying eve game items.

I don't understand.
So I create an auction for an state raven, somebody then bids on that. I guess then you go to game and set up a contract. Why not just set up a WTB contract? If you have a reasonable price on a WTB (not just knocking a few digits off) it could get filled.
I admire your work, but kinda seems like complexity for the sake of it.
Also, how do you gain anything from this? Am I supposed to donate a finders fee? Why on earth would I do that once I've hooked up with someone that has what I want... |

Go to swoopo.com and see how that site works. That is what evepv.com will do for eve items. All the details will come out when we get ready to go live. If we can fix these mysql problems. www.evepv.com EVE Online Auction site! |

Not that cheap... I am working with the hosting company to get it resolved. Could be a bad query somewhere. I'm looking into it. www.evepv.com EVE Online Auction site! |

From the information I can gather, $8/mo isn't that expensive either. Of course, you could only be paying $6/mo if you're using the host I'm led to believe you're using.
Sure, that's no cheap cheap, but it's close.
Of course, MySQL settings and the like are all host dependant and what they feel like using for security/cpu use etc.

No hostility, merely comments. Good luck with your endeavour, I shall now go and pester someone else.

So I press the Bid button and it just goes up? What about reserves? What if I wanted to bid a maximum amount and go to bed? |
