I know there has been previous debate on the 'real' impact of becoming coprse-ified..
An Idea for a further tweak to the 'corpsification' process:
When killed; have all of your BookMarks lost. (RolePlay: the clone process doesn't back these up).
Note: You can still make 'backups' of your bookmarks at stations (using click, drag, etc).. by having you lose bookmarks, it makes you less strategically valuable 'quickly'. Yet losing bookmarks, is not as catastropic as losing your skill points.
Obviously, if you didn't make 'backups' of your BM's, then you may not be happy...
This proposed change would also temper the complains gatecampers have with 'instabookmarks' somewhat... and maybe strike a little better balance between all parties. (i.e. It now be *possible* to send existing BM's to /dev/null).
Flame on.

I say triple the prices of high lvl clones. Or better yet make them so that you have to provide some type of component, or something. Biomass maybe? Maybe them accessible at fewer stations? All in all make it so that when you do combat it's a risk involved.
At this point with insurance, clone cost, and turrent balancing. Chances are you will rarely loss your pod anyway. 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

i'd rather loose sp's or implants over my bookmarks..as there are too many, and not all are instajumps/instadocks
edit: i like the idea of making clones cost more. As if you have higher sp's it means you should be making oodles more isk. As of now, a 12M sp clone at only 2M isk is pennies.

omfg. I wonder how people get an N into turret as well. an it seriously ****es me off.
I'm not sure why it annoys me so much, but it does.
and theres REALLY no excuse or reason for it... it couldn't qualify as a typo, really, since "Turret" has only one letter on the right hand, and its on the top half of the keyboard. "turret" doesn't SOUND like there might be an N in it...
is there somewhere where people call turrets turrents? I'd really like to figure out WHY SO many people make this misspelling. it is totally nonsensical.
now about this issue... I could imagine that more expensive clones, or something like that, might work, but things like losing BM's.... nah.
possibly some sort of thing where if you don't allow enough time between ordering a new clone, and using it, there be some sort of issue, like temporarily having some of the advanced skills being unusable for a bit, not like losing SP, but more like... temporarily disabling them, or something, since the clone wasn't fully mature when it was needed... or some crap like that.

methinks this is a game to have fun, why add boring timesinks ?
i wonder if a hardware extension thingy which provides you with electroshocks when your ship gets hit would sell good
... on a sidenote, would 'current' be a valid alternative for the typo or did i just miss the joke ? ...

There already is a pretty serious penalty for getting podded. They're called implants. About 80mil for the four basic ones is the average price around give or take.
Hell in most cases it's more than the ship loss.
As Raynor once said: What's next you get killed and they reformat your harddrive?

on pod death- reformat hard drive PLUS reconfigure the bios of your computer so that it will not boot anymore, and charge $1000.00us to the credit card you used to pay for the account.
role play that the generation of a clone requires extra resources on the server-cluster in england and needs extra subscription fees.
or ... how about not change it at all.

Excuse me sir, but that's the dumbest suggestion I've heard in a good long time. If anything EVE needs the timesinks taken OUT and here you go suggesting new ones.
I think people podkill too often already and your 'solution' is abysmal.

I'd say the loss needs to be reuced, many people like me wuld like to pvp but I'm not risking 90 mil worth of implants, the high cost of death keeps many people fighting a ship loss is already expensive enough.

as long as CCP dont add aditional clones (a+++++++++++++++++++++++) i think we are ok cause eventuelly you will (hopefully) get to a point where you will have more SP then the best clone on the market covers then you will get a SP punishment when you die

Why?
Somehow my clone can remember how to fly a variety of ships, shoot lasers, shoot mining lasers, use all manner of modules, remember that he left a basic something-or-other in a backwater system thirty jumps away... But somehow, he forgets the coordinates to, say, a given station?
That must be wonderful! Unfortunately, I don't understand it at all.

Fear not, brave carebears! Though the inclusion of permanent death would make EVE the best MMOG evar(tm), it simply will not happen. It's too late in the development cycle for its inclusion - a game with permanent death must be, from the start, designed around the fact that a character can be reduced to providing worms with nourishment.
PD is not something you can just slap on a year after a game has been out in retail.
Quote: Oh noes 100 millionz!
If a person can afford a top-level clone and a hundred million worth of implants in the first place, they should have no problem replacing either in the event of their pod's destruction.
It isn't exactly hard to make money in EVE. --- Having recently acquired a lab slot (thank you, rental bug), I wholeheartily concur, there's absolutely no problem with lab slots! |

Here, do this instead:
You lose ALL your skill points (Role play: The clone is only made when you first start out and not since then)
And you lose all your money! (Role play: Looters take it after you die.)
And why not, you also get a -1.5 standing to every corporation (Role play: Ahh forget it, just don't die ok?)
Now THAT's a kick in the nuts. -----------------------------------

Greater losses ? You people want LESS pvp in Eve ?
My god , just hire someone to beat you up whenever you die , in fact , if you really must "feel the pain" I'll do it free .

A plain and simple "no" to your suggestion. Leave death as it is, there are more important things to change/fix. If "you" want to feel more pain when killed, send your killer all your isk when you died. ____________________________________________________

Lose bookmarks? More expensive clones?
That's stupid.. they should in fact lower price of clones and higher the droprate of implants (so prices would drop).. so dying would become much cheaper. And more players would pvp - less carebears.
Your propositions will make even more carebears.
Or are you guys all part of big wealthy alliance with access to arkonor and bistot, and you don't want anyone to try to pvp?

Get implants and stop whining. Focus on making some clones cover more than 19M points already. Clones are expensive enough. We're here to fight dude - not to mine.

If I would loose my bookmarks when pod killed it would take days to get them back in heir right folders, 2k+ BM¦s unsorted aint nohing to laugh at.
Make clones like they were planned in the beggining that was it would only cover certain % of the skill points, highest clone was I tnik 5% loss of SP.
just my 69 cents. Spawn of the Devil

Pods need to be indestructable. That way we can sit there and talk smack freely to the people who just blew up our shuttles containing one unit of data sheets. Plus, it could cut down on implant replacement costs and drive down the rediculous cost of implants by allowing the supply to exceed demand.

A chance to create more alts. Don't see any reason for it, tough enough as it is.
And Diablo II on hardcore was no prob. Just had to know, that you could place your money and inventory on ground, stock up on healing potions and go fight with nil loss if bad luck was out to get you. Even online.

i still would say having a max limit on clones (like keeping the limit we got now) or a default small % (5%) SP loss when podded is not a bad idear
btw sorry about the extra + orestes guess i went a little overboad (thanks for cleaning up my mess)
Thank You Paw Sandberg

I'm with FileCop on this one. More money for clones=more mining+more and less
If they capped my clone at say 18mil SP, instead of going beyond it I would just train an alt to eat up some skill points until they raised the bar. Also, the idea of losing bookmarks when getting podded is not a good idea. That is almost like saying because you got in a car accident and died, we are going to burn down your house. The penalty of the clone cost + implants is enough of a kick in the nuts if you don't have crokite falling out of your pocket. Even though insurance covers the ship, it doesn't cover all those named mods you may have on there.

The advantage of Internet and (any) message boards is it allows a vast amount of people to get their .02 into an idea. It also allows an idea to be 'tested' by peer review to determine if a concept is feasible or not..
In this case; the test is failed with the general feedback falling along three lines in rough order:
a. No way, don't touch a thing. b. Maybe a little more death pain is OK in the form of more expensive clones..but don't touch my #$#* bookmarks. c. Make clones cheaper...
#a seems to be the majority.
As the original poster, I withdraw the Idea and thank the community for it's feedback.
