the patch just posted is 75883-77718 but the last patch to sisi was from 75883-73201. meaning the current sisi version is 73201, so hows the 75883-77718 patch gonna work if its the wrong initial version number? am i missing something? (im new to this) is there some kinda patch to patch sisi from 73201 - 75883?

Originally by: Lijhal btw ccp Mephysto ... whats the new option "ui_mipskip ---> skip 0,1,2 lvl" ? whats that ?
and btw, horray for SM 3.0 !!!!! thx for that
cant wait to test .... gogogogo :))
Mipmaps are the different "accuracy levels" of a texture. For example if the original texture is 2048x2048, that is mipmap level 0. Mipmap level 1 is the same texture downsized to 1024x1024 and level 2 of course 512x512. So that setting must select what levels of mipmaps are shown. Most probably part of the Premium Lite stuff for slower computers.

Edited by: Nemesis Factor on 09/02/2009 12:17:35 They took the patch down, so there is probably something wrong with it. I wouldn't patch yet, but download if you think it wont change.
Will wormholes have a dual timer system for mass and time alive, or a point system? For instance, the dual timer system would have one timer dedicated to how long the wormhole will stay alive, and another for the mass. If either one reaches 0, then the wormhole collapses.
Alternatively, with a point system (my preference), a WH would be assigned a random number. Over time the points will dwindle at a constant rate, and mass would also remove points, albeit somewhat faster. I think this scenario seems a little more realistic than a set time/mass route. Also, if there are not enough points left, a pilot still has the option to go through, however, he will lose armor and hull in the process. The WH would of course collapse behind him.
Another question: What measuers will be in place to prevent permanent exploitation of these virgin systems? I understand that sovereignty cannot be claimed, but will they be within range of a carrier/mothership's jump drive field? What keeps a pilot from keeping an alt with a cyno in the system and going in daily to gather T3 resources?
Last question; concerning the upcoming graphics (at least I heard another graphical update is coming). Are you planning on updating the texture maps of planets and nebulae (the spacey background stuff, guess its technically a skybox)? The game looks gorgeous until I warp to a station and there is a very nicely rendered extraterrestrial construction, orbiting a giant turd ball. Or blurry fuzzy thing. Depends on the color. Eve's planets Another space game's planets
Edit: Now that I think on it, upping the textures for every planet could potentially triple the client size. How about reason for a platinum client. It's a 5G download, but I would get it. I'm in the US, no bandwidth caps here. |

You can't cyno in a WH so that closes that question |

From what I understand, a wormhole will take you to a completely random pre-existing solar system (as opposed to a procedurally generated one). Since they are already in existence, they occupy an area of space on the galaxy map. Won't these systems potentially fall within range of a jump drive?
Edit: used my alt (Nemesis Factor) |

yeah, i read in a question and answer thing they did regarding M10 that the only method of getting to w-space is via the wormholes and any other method would be considered an exploit. |

Take it that way, there are on another plane of existence... so cynos just can't be lit up.
Something like that or whatever explanation suits you as long as the result is the same: You can't cyno in a wormhole. |

No they don't appear on the map, niether does you approximate location (according to what I've heard). A dev hinted yesterday on the fanfest broadcasts advert videos that those hidden systems could be in another universe entirely or perhaps back in the "old universe" so its possible that jump drives are entirely out ranged. Or at least its a good excuse why you can't use them. |
