I'm also a U.S. player from the east coast and I have to say only one person I know plays or has heard of it besides me.
as for new players bring em all in, We'll all adapt or die right?

...hard to adapt if so many new players suddenly join that the whole server cluster crashes and you can't log in anymore... or maybe that was the die part?

 Yeah.. go ahead and advertize in asia. I'll just start an empire based gank-squad and the largest ore-thieving department ever heard of.
We'll set up cloaked ships in the roid belts. Have a survey crew rotating around.. find the macro spots.. and giggle as we say "KEKEKE PK PK DIE NOOB!"
Anyway, sterotypes and racisim aside, I think it's in CCP's best interest to fix the hardware problems, and major bugs before they market ANYWHERE. Oh.. and might as well start up a department specifically designed to investigate "unfair gameplay". You know what I mean.

This game won't get far in Asia without a strong storyline. The MMO market in Asia is exceedingly huge with games like Legend of Mir, Ragnarok Online, and Lineage. EVE also has too much time sinks---just moving from one place to another takes far too long. And you can't have this when you're playing out of an internet cafe or PC game room.

Archangel Sean from STK is Korean and I've never heard 'PK KEKEKEKEKEKE!!!! NOOB!!' from him. Admittedly he does like to mention that he's the best combat pilot ever but I'll just put that down to an emotional quirk
A lot of valid points in this thread, namely the language barrier and the skill points difference. The skill points difference isn't that bad though because the veterens will eventually leave anyway. The language problem can only be controlled by enforcing a strict 'local chat' policy of English only. If you can't speak english, don't say anything. Say what they like in corp chat.
As for the guy who would go pirate just to pod a few 'English challenged' players, I'd join ya mate. Not because the language barrier would bug me, but because I live in China and I'm fed up of the buggers staring at me 24 hours a day. If I can't lamp 'em one here, I'll do it in game.

I doubt the 2 sides would be split, a fair number of people mingled in FFXI. Heck i had more japanese people actually trying to create parties with me than i had western parties. Provided eve add in a language dictionary like they did in FFXI i think it would be great.
Besides it wouldn't kill people to actually learn a few things about another culture/language.

I think I would have to become a pirate. I think we all would, wouldn't have too much choice. The Koreans especially are even more bloodthirsty than the Swedes lol.
I have friends who played some of the korean games, notably Lineage I. They remarked that the korean gaming clans reminded them of the seagulls in Finding Nemo. The only difference was instead of saying "mine" "mine" "mine" they kinda gather up and all say..

but then, i dont know anyone who still plays computer games
without having any prior knowledge of these situations in other games, what worries me is the amount of partisan bu11sh1t on this thread. The last thing i want is real world national/geographical/cultural divisions being played out in the game
an influx of new players doesnt bother me, but in-game politics influenced by RL nationality would be enough to make me quit tbh |

It's a shame the narrowminded amongst us feel insecure about playing the game with people who don't speak the queens english. I've played Starcraft against Koreans, some are really nice players, some are egotistical weirdo's, others are cheating swines. Sound familar? Yes, your probably sitting on teamspeak with someone very similar no doubt in a western country.
Mass cheating? I'd be a fool to say that the majority of map hacks in starcraft didn't come from korea, but with that in mind i'd have to say that SC's success in Korea _MADE_ SC what it was, anyone care to argue with that?
I do have one worry, more players? Better servers CCP.
