I have a great idea. Let me represent it to you.
All new chars should come with 100mil sp of their own choice! And 250bil isk in wallet so they can use whatever they want. But only on one char per account so they dont exploit it. They should earn 1 bil per each mission in case they want to put some effort in game.
Also their training should be 200% faster all the time. Not just to the poor 1.6 mil sp. I mean there should not be reason why the people who played and paid since start should be better then newbies. New players should catchup as soon as possible, why not from start?
Meanwhile why not use the chance and p i s s in the mouth of all the vets who started with like 50k sp and mined for days for their frigs. For the people who had corp mining ops to get first battleshpis back in `03. For people who made Eve become what it is now.
It`s true that they were in solid part a reason for this game achievements. But now when its all about the money rush You dont need them anymore.
In the space no one can hear your scream, but whats next. Those screams will become lalala songs in the lalalend called wow-inspace...? |

Signed. New changes for easymode suck.
With the attribute redistribution, why not just give everyone 30 to all stats?
With the 6 month attribute changes you can min-max to effectively get that anyway.

Also, I agree that the game is infinitely easier than it used to be. This isn't WoW; you don't need to have high-level SP chars to make money/pvp/whatever. That's half the appeal of Eve. And the game is a fair bit easier than it used to be, isk is inflated and easier to acquire, and the increase in population has resulted in a decrease in overall prices. Ships are throwaways now, versus previously a status symbol of wealth or experience. Having a few billion isk was at one time unheard of, now it's commonplace.
tl;dr: stop catering to carbears/industrialists/noobs. For the 123412351st time. |

I for one want there to be tons and tons of new players for me to dominate and rule, so making things easier for them / making eve more attractive to starting players is all good with me !

PS: ETA on the hud tickbox to enable/disable pvp? Sometimes people just want to freighter stuff through low sec or during a war and those pirates sometimes get in the way forcing the pilots to logoff. It's most unfair.

^^ what zola said.
new players have it way to easy already, and the last thing we need is to make it even more easy..
maybe ccp should for once think about rewarding those of us that have been here for years supporting them |

Edited by: Lee Dalton on 09/02/2009 15:12:56 I'm a new player (Oct 2008), I do not support these changes.
The biggest complaint I have is the attribute rerolls, it's basically letting you buy {skill points}/{accelerated skill training}.
By maxing Memory/Int first and training all Engineering/Electronics/Mechanic to 4, then switching over to Perc/Will and training Gunnery/Missiles/Ship Command, you'll basically have 40 mil+ SP by the end of the year and be able to fly a T2 fitted BS in a couple of months.
Additionally, you can basically buy ISK direct from CCP now - so it's not like the cost of the ship and modules is a barrier to you flying one. (Before someone comes in about how it takes lots of time to learn the ins and outs of EVE combat, it really doesn't take that long. EVE might have a steeper learning curve to WoW, but almost anyone can work out how to PvP in a couple of months.)
What these changes do is basically devalue SP and ISK even more and is a giant **** you to anyone who actually thought about how the game worked and how they wanted to roll their character.
What this means, is new toons get a lovely easy game to play, where they can avoid PvP with no effort, get SP very quickly and ISK without the grind. This isn't the EVE that was advertised and sure as **** isn't why I signed up.
(While I do see why older toons might want a stat reroll due to the changes in the game in the last 5 years, that is a different argument.)
(No, I am not ragequitting and you may not have my stuff.)
Edit: I see that the aim is obviously to give new toons a kickstart so they arn't totally eclipsed and to give older toons a change to reroll bad stats. I just think that this goes too far. (Giving everyone 1 reroll when the patch hits would be completely sufficient - unless the RL money for attribute rerolls is the real reason for this.)

I can partially agree with you mate.. i can remember when i first started and had like 80k sp's.. lol.. the 1 mil sp's mark seemed to be ages away
But the game changed alot since.. it only grew in complexity, and what seemed to be than a huge task for a newcommer, now it's an even greater one.. it wouldn't be easy for me to start again from that lvl if i had to do it.. for a true noob, with no game experience whatsoever is simply ridiculous..
Attribute respec is a natural, decent step forward.. and it helps both new and old players. Imo an even smarter step formward would be the complete elimination of the learning skill tree along with the charisma attribute, very unlikely tho |

The issue isn't helping new players - it's that these changes go too far. (Yet again.)
With the double SP gain until 1.6 mil SP, you can take learning to 5/4 (ignoring charisma).
Then you take into account the cheap +3/+4 implants and how rewarding missions are.
New players have a massive leg up already - within a couple of weeks of play they already get +12 or +13 to their stats.
Can you really say that they don't have enough help when starting? |

What the hell???
One person told me of these "changes in SiSi" and I told him he was a ****** for thinking CCP would do such a thing. "Think you fool, no way in hell anything like those is going to happen. So don't be an ass!"
Are you sure you're not victims of some trolling? Did you see these YOURSELVES in SiSI??
I can't seriously believe this ****...

This thread really lacks something constructive. I suggest that the people with opinions log onto Singularity and try it out, both as a new player and as a veteran player. Then return to this thread with some constructive feedback and examples of what can change, how and why. That is, after all, why we put it on singularity for public testing. |

I don't have access to the test server, but I want to ask, does race/bloodline matter at all anymore? From the pictures I've seen there seems to be an attribute minimum of 4 regardless of the background of the character. Are we going from varied attribute distributions and backgrounds to a situation where everyone effectively is an achura(except less ugly)? If the option is there I'm going for it, but I kind of wish there would be some meaning in my choice of bloodline/race.

it's max 3 points into something dude.
and you only get 5.
hel think about it, as a new players your not going to get +5 implants,a nd your going to have to wait FOREVER for learning skills.
This new change is nothing more than "max out learning skills so it takes less time then play normally"
seriously, the sky is not falling.

I take it your not a pvper. the faster ccp makes people able to do things, the more targets us pvpers get. I applaud any changes they make for making isk a bit easier, or training skills for big ships easier for noobies. very few people are willing to spend the time to max their skills for large ships so personally i tend to have the advantage.

Disagree.
As someone who has brought about a half dozen new players into that game over the years I currently tell new players: "If you want to pvp start training for an interceptor now and we can fly together in 6-9 months."
It is not exactly the best way to get friends into the game. I have also had friends not subscribe after the trial because they felt like they could never catch up with people that have been playing for years.
Anything that allows me to bring new friends into the game and get them flying with me quicker is a step in the right direction. |
