My girlfriend had been playing it since august, and was more or less oblivious to the world around. So I figured I might as well get oblivious with her ;)

5. Watched a mate playing it, over his shoulder. Over the course of the few hours he played I saw him upgrade from an Imicus to a l337 Tristan.
Next day I ordered a copy for myself

5. - Because it's the best MMO on the market in my eyes.
Plus.. I beta tested for so many months, I wanted to see what launch was like. Now that's a year gone.. I still can't leave. It's grabbed me by the throat and strangled me into submission.

I like the idea of owning a crop. and getting all the tools needed to make isk. Under cut the competitors create monopolies hire dirty pirates to make a mess of all the corp.Æs that get in the way while keeping a clean sec. status.
Issuing stocks on the stock market to to rise founds to buy that brand new space station
And all that good stuff
But the best part is being able to do all that against an intelligent real person not a dumb AI system that you can out smart in a few tries
but maybe SOON tm we will be able to do all the that
****ing off society one dumba$$ at a time |

I beta tested for a short while, then got caught up in RL for a few months. I had never played any type of RPG before, so I was a total noob.
Then right after release, I won a copy of Eve at a Q3 LAN party during a door prize drawing along with a case of Bawls and an AMD T-shirt.
At this same party, people were playing Eve during breaks. They had started up DC1 Coalition with me being about a month behind, and I am pretty much the only one left that plays daily out of the original 12 or so.
Come to think of it, I have a feeling that the door prizes were rigged, since they had been after me for a while to play. Hmmm.
So I would say I am a solid 5 on your list Alberto, PEER PRESSURE.
Damnit.

Was getting bored of counterstrike after 2 years, and someone mentioned this game on a forums, so I looked into it and it looked good, plus it was only ú10 from game with a months playtime
I also have a lot of time to kill and I like space stuff
