Just some clarification... Can the 20k 1-point warp scramblers shut down opponent MWDs? Or does it have to be one of the shorter range 2-point scramblers?

Short range ones only.

Only warp scramblers shut down the target's mwd. Warp disruptors do not.

I thought it is always possible to crank up your MWD (MicroWarpDrive), unless you are in deadspace. Even though someone is scrambled, they should still be able to fly 1000m/s.
Or am i missing something here? I have been offline for months, but i believe this is the situation as i left eve.
Edit : I just checked the item database and you guys are right. What a disapointment, i better get rid of the MWD now. Was this always the case? -If the enemy is in range, so are you- |

It came in with the speed revamp in Quantum Rise. Shorth range scramblers provide 2-3 points and immediately stops MWD from affecting speed. Ranges are 7.5km-10.5km I think, longer range for some of the faction versions .. standard T2 has a 9km range. Unless the ship has an AB fitted as well it is stuck at base speed until it leaves scrambler range or the tackle is killed.

MWD is still very good, allows you dictate range, issue arises in furballs where you never know who has a scrambler and you can't keep everyone at 11km.
This change coincidently gave new life to the mothballed Gallente recons with their evil range bonus. Afterburners are now a viable fitting choice, though they leave you open to be kited by good pilots.

I don't mind this actually. Makes things interesting :) My number one pet peeve is still neuts/nos....it's like they are mandatory these days (I'm returning after 2 plus years). I just run from every Curse I see :(

Just a nerf to solo riskless pvp. Vaga's can no longer attack my Crusader with impudence, they actually have to risk their ship now. ____
