I was just wondering if a titan has ever been sold on the open market? Anybody know? The answer is probably "no".

Yes. Well, kinda. You can't actually dock them to sell them, but I've seen titan sell/buy ads on the market forums. -- 249km locking? |

If by open market you mean the in game market accessed via the market button...no. They can't dock in stations, so it's impossible to sell them through it.
However, Titans have been and are sold, relatively frequently. Go look at the sell orders forum.

It is the same, afaik it has to be traded in space so often a third party is used to facilitate the transfer (i.e. Chribba) --

A meet up location is determined, and assuming that it isn't a trap, the Titan pilot ejects and the buyer boards...somewhere along these lines, ISK is transferred.
Or it happens at the POS it was built at.
Or (most likely), it goes through Chribba (a third party service that gets around traps).
And yes, same for motherships.

Only secure in the sense that we haven't yet heard of an isk amount that he is willing to backstab someone over. There is always the first time.
Like any escrow service he'll take a cut of the action. He makes enough off of this to keep him fairly honest.

His reputation is probably the most valuable reputation in EVE. I wonder if there's anything in EVE he wants badly enough that it would be worth burning his reputation to get it?
I sure can't think what. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

There are a few other lesser known escrow services out there, but by and large Chribba is the gold standard for getting undockable crap sold. |

Chribba just bought his very own titan, do you really think he cares what other people can offer him? He has no need for trillions of isk because he enjoys mining and enjoys making isk the old fashioned way.

There have been a couple of auctions on the forums for titans, sold using Chribba's third-party service. ----------------------------------------------------

Chribba is EVIL! Evil I tell you!
He is trying to monopolise every facet of Eve, first the Veldspar belts, then the infernal free file server for eve ralated material and now the 3rd Party service ... EVIIIL!
PS: Terms and conditions apply.
